I guess that he still hold some because if he doesn't have it anymore then he'll just abandon the project same goes with what Charlie Lee did.

I'm sure Vitalik has heaps of Ethereum, after all, he must have been among the first to begin mining ETH.

With that said, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't completely sell out the moment it touched over $1,000. This could potentially explain why his activities in the crypto space have died down in the last couple of years—likely because he's living the high life now!

Either way, the founders deserve a chunky reward for their efforts. If Ethereum becomes what he claims it will, it could be an incredible asset for humanity as a whole.

Vitalik still holds his ethereum and that's a lot of ethereum. ATH can't be achieved easily and that needs a lot of effort and hype especially when it comes to the price of ethereum and this time it's trading at the bottom price which mean the possibility for ethereum to reach the new ATH looks almost zero percent.
Remember there was no a lot of news about how much pre-mined coin that owned by the founder of ethereum but it will be the same as ripple or even lower.
But it's still worth more than 100 million dollars. I could be worth billion dollars.

Developers and teams usually keep a lot of tokens for themselves. It's not strange or secret at all. They have to keep some, and depending on the team it might be used for good or evil purposes.

Vitalik has a lot of ETHs for sure, but it doesn't mean that he's gonna dump it all tomorrow, bringing the price to $1 (I wish he did though).

What you are saying invariably is that, Vitalik is still looking for avenue to sell for he has left. Most especially when the price rises again. Well, we are all waiting for that time to come and I will be much excited about it.
I think the upgrade can make that to work out.

Ethereum's potential to reach it's all time high is not as a result of vitalik still having his stash of unsold Eth but in the potential of the ethereum project. But it remains to be see if it will ever reach it's all time high again.

I am also convinced that Ethereum will go up again as it goes by halving bitcoin 2020. Indeed the current price of Ethereum is again down, actually it's a chance to buy back. If the development team does it right, Ethereum would again cross that all time high to make a new record. And as of Vitalik, I don't think his holding of some thousands of coin would have any significant effect on the development and future of Ethereum as he has taken an insignificant role and is not the leader of Ethereum.
