So, technically the Senate can't stop the House from moving forward with the impeachment process steps. It can, however, stop a president from being convicted and removed from office. In fact, in several instances throughout history, American presidents have been impeached by the House, but not convicted by the Senate — meaning they remained in office.

Just like I have said in my earlier post, they will continue to vote along party line whether the accused is guilty or not. The Democrats would believe that they have done the right thing while the Republicans would continue to convince themselves that its a pure witch hunt and its a ploy for the Democrats to take over power in 2020 believing that Mike Pence who would become the president should Trump leaves might not be able to give them the grasp of power till 2024. The shame and joke is actually on the analysts and the reporters who made it their life mission to ensure that the reportage did not stop and continue to make everything news.

Nice reply there buddy ! Both of them may end up not getting loops hole in the Constitution so that the final  decision should be at the Senate and I believe that at the end of the day Trump will return from the current "Spam folder".

Trump nominees make up 1 in 4 U.S. circuit court judges. Two of his picks sit on the Supreme Court. And this past week, as the House voted to impeach the president, the Republican-led Senate confirmed an additional 13 district court judges.

I'm afraid this could backfire democrats in the 2020 elections.
And if Donald Trump wins the Office and Republican both senate and house, it could make him more overconfident and could weaken the democratic establishment. It's good to have some power to check others.

Absolutely agree. A lot of Donald Trump's power is based on him positioning himself as the 'anti-establishment' candidate, standing up for the regular man-in-the-street against the mighty powers that control the economy. Regardless of what Trump's real position and motivation is, the risk remains that the impeachment process simply entrenches Trump's existing support, and even draws in new voters to his 'anti-establishment' cause.

The question of whether a billionaire who literally has a tower of gold can be 'anti-establishment' is beside the point...

Impeachment is pretty much being indicted - It doesn't mean any more then the Grand Jury thinking they have enough evidence to proceed (the grand jury in this case being the members of the House instead of the jury in a regular case)

So the Senate can't stop Trump from being impeached, but they can change the outcome of Donald Trump being found guilty.

This stunts of the demo will really made them lose in the next election, the dominant rep will crush them all to finally make it peace. Trump is doing good for the US, he made it great as he said and so people likes him. The demo just react in a way they intend to but this will not succeed as its decided by the numbers.

I too thought this is the real procedure. He might be impeached in the house but he will be in the office until his term ends and then he will be reelected.
