What a sweet guy Trump is. Read the above^^ linked article. He's letting the cornered Dems off the hook by giving them the chance to save face. And they are going for it... LOL. Anything to keep government rolling. I wonder who is advising all these people - including Trump - in their silliness.

So, technically the Senate can't stop the House from moving forward with the impeachment process steps. It can, however, stop a president from being convicted and removed from office. In fact, in several instances throughout history, American presidents have been impeached by the House, but not convicted by the Senate — meaning they remained in office.

Remember this: Republicans control 53 seats in the Senate. Even if the Democratic-led House impeaches Trump, he will not be removed until 67 senators vote to convict him. Which, by a bit of back-of-the-envelope math, means that 20 GOP senators would have to side with all 47 Democrats (and independents who caucus with Democrats) in the Senate for Trump to actually be removed.

A simple majority of the House of Representatives (at least 218 votes) is required to impeach a U.S. President followed by a two-thirds majority vote in the Senate (at least 67 votes).

Cool

I want to believe that the Senate will be considering the facts and allegations against Donald Trump, also the power of party will  come into play, from the look of things the Senate may not support the impeachment , judging from the number of votes the president was able to get even from  the Representative  that have higher number of democrats, so at the Senate definitely, Donald Trump will not  be impeached.

While this is from ZeroHedge, it makes sense on why the Dems are going to want to further go into impeachment stuff. They want to (and need to) convince more people to join their team. They thought with their public hearings that they'd be able to sway public opinion, but it really didn't do anything.

Current aggregate polls from 538 show that support behind impeaching and removing the president is 48-48 (pretty much a dead tie)

To go further with the support of the people, they need to flip this. And if they can't, they've failed and Trump will be able to use this as a victory of his own.

It makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside attacking a source because its popular to doesn't it? Almost like a little mini version of virtue signalling. How many times do I have to explain to you Zero Hedge is primarily an aggregator linking stories from all over, in this case Politico. Of course if it was just Politico linked you wouldn't be able to take that opportunity to virtue signal for your dopamine hit now would you?

Most of the reason that I'm not a big fan of ZeroHedge mostly because of their doom and gloom relating to economics and the market. That's where the start of my hatred towards ZeroHedge came from. But after that, not a big fan of the fact that ZH doesn't publicize the posters on their site. It'd be nice to see the people behind these stories and where their interests lie.

ZH isn't just an aggregate like Politico, and they don't source as well as Politico. Just my opinion ya know.

I don't like to hear the doom and gloom of Zero Hedge, but I would rather hear it than be unprepared for it.

What I don't like about ZH is their website advertising. But they seem to need it to remain in operation.

The country is totally divided and there is no way that the Republican senate are going to allow them to impeach Trump with the elections coming up because Trump is very popular with Republican voters and if that happens they are going to retaliate by maybe boycotting the elections and the GOP will end up losing massively. No wonder Trump wants a Senate trial court he is sure to win it.
