Certainly won't solve the OP problem because he didn't even use Electrum for Bitcoin.
What was missed by everyone except HCP, is still unknown fact for BitMaxz. Posts definitely needs to be read very carefully, because only one letter can mean a big difference and take the discussion in a completely wrong direction.

Actually it's a wrong reply I just deleted it. Cheesy
I read a post a few days ago I thought that this is the thread that I was looking for because I receive the same error with electrum related to server just yesterday so I remember the thread with the same error I thought that this is the thread Sorry.

It supposed to be here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5210637.msg53385472#msg53385472
But it seems he already solved the issue.

Hello guys,

As suggested, I downloaded the latest version of Electrum (ver 3.3.8 Windows Installer) from the provided correct link and carried-out the wallet installation process. The wallet was installed, I input the same old password, and when the wallet opened, I could see my old bitcoin collection in it.

This time around, I also the Electrum wallet shortcut on the desktop, so the installation seems to have been carried-out in a more proper manner than in May 2019. I was also able to load transactions (from the Genesis Mining transfer) and view the details of it.

Under 'View Addresses', all the addresses now start with '1' and the receiving address is another new address starting with '1' but I think that can be understood that the receiving address is always an unused address.

So, just to confirm, is there any aspect of this concern still to look-at? Or can it be considered as resolved? I thank you all for providing valuable information and helping set this right so far.

Some questions that have arisen are as follows:
When I had used my installation file (ver 3.3.1) in May 2019, it seems like the Electrum bitcoin wallet was installed by default because I had not picked any special options or such. But when I tried to restore the wallet using the same file a few days ago, it seems to have installed the vertcoin fork of the wallet. I fail to understand why the same installation file installed 2 different wallets on the occasions, because I had not interfered in the installation process beyond the 'Next' clicks.

From the looks of it, this can be considered as "solved". You can lock the topic whenever you want using the "lock" button below (lower-left).

You might have downloaded and installed that Electrum fork somewhere in the past as it's impossible for the official site to have a mix-up like that.

I had one related question.

I now have 2 Electrum wallets, one apparently for bitcoins and another one for vertcoins, with 2 shortcuts present on the desktop. I know which one is the right shortcut for the now correctly installed Electrum bitcoin wallet. Since correctly installing the wallet, I have not used the other shortcut.

When I use the 'File -> Open' option in the newly installed wallet, it opens to the path 'C:\users\USERNAME\appdata\Roaming\Electrum\wallets'. Under the 'Roaming' folder, there continues to be a separate folder called 'Electrum-VTC' consisting of the wallet and other folders and files.

How do I remove the Electrum-VTC fork wallet and have only 1 regular Electrum wallet for bitcoins? In 'Control Panel -> Programs and Features', I can a program called Electrum from Electrum Technologies GmbH and a program called 'Electrum-VTC' from Vertcoin LLC. Is it okay and enough to uninstall the Electrum-VTC program?

I am especially checking because I thought I might have 3 Electrum wallets lying around now - one from May 2019, one from early December 2019 before posting here, and one that I managed to install correctly. But apparently, that is not the case. I seem to have only 2 of them. Hope that is fine.

I also wanted to understand how to shift the wallet from C drive to another drive on the laptop because I want to reinstall the Windows OS. Or do I need to do something else for the same? I don't want to loose the coins or the wallet in the Windows OS reinstalling process. I kindly request help with the same.

~snip~

If you do not need Electrum VTC then just remove it with uninstallation, and after that just manually delete any remaining files. After that, you will only have Electrum BTC and there will be no room for some future confusions. If that wallet is important in any way, be sure to keep seed, but mark it as VTC seed.

Seed words (12 words) are all you need for your wallet recovery, so it is not necessary that you move Electrum files from C partition to D or E partition. But if you want extra security, you can copy all files to another partition, or a USB stick. After you finish OS reinstalling you can move files to a default location or use them on the present location. You will not lose your coins as long as you have the correct seed or wallet files.

Don't confuse the number of Electrum wallets with the number of different pieces of software you have installed.
Electrum is a software wallet for Bitcoin only. You can create X amount of wallets with Electrum and all those wallets are opened with the same Electrum software.
Same thing for the Vertcoin wallet.
If you don't need the Vertcoin software wallet anymore just uninstall that one. This will not result in the loss of funds as long as you have a copy of the private keys or seed of said wallet.

Hello everybody,

Thank you for your help with my problem, including the reinstallation of wallet after the OS reinstall. Your posts and suggestions have not only solved the problems I was facing, but have also helped me gain a better understanding of how the wallet works. I could not have resolved the issues without your help. Keep up the good work and I hope to contribute to the forum.
