There is compromise everywhere, NSA leaks and Localbitcoin secretly aiding FBI, phone taps, bitcoin traders even arrested while trading.

I want to use Lavabit as an example and the hunt for snowden, the government can also take what they want anytime they want, you either give it willingly or you give it forcefully regardless of the protection law and your rights, this begs the question is there any real privacy protection service out there, for email services, mobile communication and many more, i know the encryption and others but then again when the government needs it they will get it and all our thought to be private datas will become public, what services do you suggest to have your data and yourself protected.

I suggest taking a look at the PrivacyTools[1] website. Listed on the website are non data-stealing software and services that you can use as an alternative to most services you're using on the daily(Email, search engines, browsers, etc).

Localbitcoin secretly aiding FBI,
this is what all the centralized services do, even this forum would help the law enforcement if they receive a court order to reveal a user's information. and it is not necessarily a bad thing to catch criminals!

unless they were trading in Bangladesh where bitcoin is illegal, there is no case of bitcoin traders being arrested for no reason ...

That's the reason why bitcoin trading depends on your location. Most especially, when you're an immigrant on another country. You have no rights to use bitcoin if it's illegal because you have nothing to do with it when you get arrested.

But data is important on catching criminals so FBI are only the one who have it.

Definitely not. Unless you really never used their services, even massive companies like Google, Amazon, Facebook, etc has your data. In fact, it's safe to assume that these companies even have more data about us than the FBI.

That's what we are made to believe and assume is going on but day in and day out we continue to hear about the compromise of users data on websites. We heard about the Facebook data leak sometime ago, i think users should take notice of this and make sure they don't share sensitive information with any platform because you can never be sure when the security systems of the platform is going to break.

True data protection is just marketing language if there's any company out there offering such services. You don't know what the insiders there doing and it's such a norm to see that centralized services hand out data to government when being requested because the company is owned by the individual that I could assume is not immune to law and punishment. even you won't know what kind of backdoor get installed to your computer or if there's any.

This is really one of the risk involved in bitcoin or crypto world. Data protection needs to be properly secured and monitored. So far I only trust to the passwords and codes as data protection. As to the data within it we really don't know who controls it. That's also the risk of being decentralized. We cannot demand to whom we can raise our concerns in case of data protection.

There are a lot of compromises that happen when it comes to personal data or private data. It's somewhat the curse of humans if you think about it because if you Check the history books with all things related to human interactions, there are rebellions and misunderstandings with conflicts and results in people destroying each other. There's nothing as pure as ”data” protection in this world, it could be solved or even be back-sided with the knowledge of it. Also, real partners stab each other back, and that could result from sabotaging.

where bitcoin traders are caught while trading, I think the arrest has a clear reason why was arrested, there are thousands of bitcoin traders but there are only a few arrests, I'm sure those arrested have committed violations.

what services do you suggest to have your data and yourself protected.

There maybe systems that could give better protection but there are no guarantee that it can offer us 100 percent total protection because all online entities are inherently  insecure and most of us can't do anything about it but apply the best possible defenses as much as possible. Smiley

If you want to be part of the modern society and not an underground cave fellow you can't really protect your data. I mean first of all if you use social media you are exposed to the world. If you don't wanna be a public person you can use all kind of privacy focused hardware and software, encryption, crypto-currencies, etc. But is that really a life when you hide yourself from the world?

Nice recommendation. It's unfortunate that many of these tools cannot be safely used on mobile devices or they do not even have mobile versions.

Other interesting tools:
Encrypt All The Things
https://encryptallthethings.net/

Gpg4win - Secure email and file encryption with GnuPG for Windows
https://www.gpg4win.org/

Find my Facebook ID
https://findmyfbid.com/

FreedomBox (Private Cloud Server)
https://freedombox.org/

Access Now
https://www.accessnow.org/

I wouldn't advice anyone to trust these tools 100%. I have used none of them.

Deep web is something we are not allowed to talk about and you know there are places where if you put the onion on for even 2 min, you get traced and then you get sentenced to the jailterm , it's super super weird , dark web is something else , maybe there is true data protection because the FBI and all are tracking it every second , but here on Google , your normal internet and browser , there is nothing like that .

Yes but finally all of these data go with FBI or they have access on it anytime they wish, just remember how kickass torrent owner was arrested (combination of Apple and Facebook).
I would say that there is no true data protection, even PGP had serious bug that was found recently. Data can't be protected well forever, current encryption things are valid for limited time because in future there will be another issue found in them, we are developing nonstop after all.
But still there are some services that have higher security than popular ones among population.

People perceive same things differently. The truth, privacy, protection and use all depends on perspectives.
Chinese face surveillance is just the start, Authorities around the world would start monitoring every steps of it's people. Our privacy would be available only on the constitution in the future.

I think OP is afraid that if the given information would put in the wrong hands and those people who have more money will easily get away with it except with the minorities. Well, as long as we obeyed the rules I think there's no problem of handing out our information since we are in a community who exchange services in order to live peacefully.

Some people may want to stay anonymous behind the internet or from the government but they are still part of the community who carefully obeyed the rules because they don't want someone is knocking behind on their door.

Pgp is insanely close to true data protection, but it depend what you want to do with it, if you’re sending just text it’s easy to be perfectly safe, media data would be a totally different league.

All data protection is aimed to make it so difficult to decrypt files that it will discourage thieves and hackers.

There's no protection that cannot be broken but some take long enough that you will be able to discover the hack and act or it will take so much time and resources that it won't be worth it.
