It depends on where you live. Another thing is that, as far as I know, almost all the people speak Russian in Ukraine. So I think that it would be much easier for you to find a Russian language school than a Ukrainian one.

Knowing Polish or Russian will help. Also living in Ukraine is best way to learn language. Also there was a government funded program to learn Ukrainian but I never attended it.

I learned Ukrainian good enough to watch news and understand most of it, read simple texts and answer in simple phrases.

From my experience it is very difficult to find a school and learn Ukrainian.
if there is not any specific reason to do so and Russian can help you as well then you should better try and find a school to learn Russian instead. There are more exercises and material for free that might help.

I'm not sure why some of you suggesting OP to learn Russian when he need Ukrainian language.
OP, you have too look for some online courses to learn languages. There is some apps like Duolingo which may help.

It's not very accurate comparison because in Ukraine most people understand Russian, but Ukrainian is only official language there. And after 2014 Russian language is becoming less popular.
