Me and my friends go over to asking the staff every time we have to pay a bill somewhere at the checkout if we can pay with Bitcoin. Of course the answer is always no. We are much more concerned with raising awareness among the general public about cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin in particular. Because we often see that shortly after this question, employees tell their colleagues about this presence, and they will almost certainly do so at home.  A single question can reach dozens of people and Bitcoin is becoming more aware.

So: go out and invest those few seconds during each payment process to push the Bitcoin!

Oh yeah, I love this initiative. This is extremely helpful to the Bitcoin community itself.
It will help the adoption and you are right that a single question can reach dozen of people since they will become curious about Bitcoin once they hear that, especiall you asking it for payment.

Good job! Keep it up!!!

there are several stores that provide payment with bitcoin, You can check it in this section https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=51.0 but in my opinion bitcoin is more suitable as an investment than payment, because the value of bitcoin is very volatile.

I figure you are doing that in Germany (looking over your posting history). There seems to be a bunch of places there that do accept Bitcoin there (play around with https://coinmap.org/view/#/map/52.51732782/13.38885990/11, although I do  not know how accurate the information there is), so one day you’ll likely hit a place that accepts Bitcoin, and you will be left with the dilemma of whether to really payout in BTC then and there ...

this is a good idea, I am a shy person sometimes I am embarrassed if I say something to the cashier especially I am a person who does not like shopping, I am not an easy person to say something in public, I usually ask some of my friends to go shopping sometimes I give tips for him , but I might try this idea to ask my friend to tell the cashier "Can I pay in Bitcoin here?"

I think we are very near to that. Bitcoin will be going to accept all over the world once adopt bitcoin as a legal tender and you are giving some curiosity about bitcoin because you and your friends are asking wherever you go shop something and you ask about accepting bitcoin so that will create some curiosity about them to know the bitcoins. I am also doing the same thing to give an invite to my friends to come into crypto world and use Crypto.

That's a great way to spread awareness at the very least, although I wouldn't do this because I don't spend bitcoin anymore.  There's more to be potentially gained by *not* spending it than there is to spend it in place of cash.  And I am not such a big bitcoin holder that I have so much to blow on things, nor do I have an easy way to buy back what I would spend like some people have suggested you do when you use bitcoin for things.

But as I said, asking businesses if they take bitcoin is good for keeping it in people's minds, or at least getting them to think about it to begin with.  I think most people probably have at least heard of it, but some might not have.

Of course the answer is always no.

it mostly depends on where you live but the answer is not "always" no. for example a couple of months ago i was pleasantly surprised to see a shop that i didn't even expect was accepting bitcoin. unfortunately i don't carry around any bitcoin with me on my phone or anything so i couldn't pay with bitcoin but it was a good experience.
i even asked about their experience and they said most people only ask about what it is and they had only a couple of payments so far.

There is a FOMO brewing...

i sometimes do when in some resto and hotel but suddenly all of them says NO but i am not losing hope since our country is crypto friendly .

but there are one boutique that i saw one time accepting bitcoin but when i ask about it,the manager says they have stopped the acceptance for some personal reason.

I have actually tried to execute this plan! When I visited a car showroom to book my first car, I indeed asked this question while paying the booking amount! The cashier looked at me as if he is looking to an alien! It became very uncomfortable to me as I was about to pay a good amount as booking!

It's actually a good idea to make people intrigued about cryptos, but we need to take a great amount of caution before doing it, especially in those countries where bitcoin is banned or banking ban is on force! So my advice is not to go all out, rather see first and understand if there is no risk of doing it! Otherwise you may get unwanted attention!

I've seen same thread like this before. I really find it interesting asking people at the counter cause it's like a new idea to promote Bitcoin. However I don't think they will bother to research about it just because a single customer asked about it. If you're going to ask every shop you go to, that's a lot. But with the worker's point of view, it won't matter because only one customer asked about it. I'm not destroying the idea, I'm just saying other situation that could happen

The question of "whether here accepts payment by bitcoin" would be very strange if I asked every store in my country Indonesia.
Bitcoin in Indonesia is only known as a digital cryptocurrency currency that has a high voting value and according to them it would be very risky if applied to payments at stores, shopping centers and other places.
BItcoin in Indonesia still hasn't got clear regulations.
I even tried asking my friend who owns a restaurant, whether or not to accept payments using bitcoin. the answer is NO.
Because he doesn't want to take risks with bitcoin.
It is very difficult to implement and adopt bitcoin payments in countries that do not support Bitcoin.

this could be great, atleast you give them the confusion of the terms that they aren't aware of, I can say that some of the businesses now are really unto bitcoin, they are planning to add bitcoin as one of the mode of payment, it will be like whatsapp pay, gcash(local wallet) , alipay and etc. Many people will start to buy to someones store once they accept bitcoin.

Someone who wants to get paid with Bitcoin. Only the rich can think of it. Small trades can take payment with bitcoin. However, he will have to convert his bitcoins into dollars immediately. Because the price of bitcoin is still very unstable. In this case, the tradesmen must protect themselves.

That's right. Merchants who accepts btc as a payment is helping bitcoin to push its capability to grow on the coming years. We as an investors will also help to make the people adapt to this technology. So everytime we see someone accepting btc lets use their service even with a little amount.

In my city everywhere I only get the answer-No.
exactly the answer what im seeking, there are places of ignorant people that will straight up saying NO and being ignorant to what they don't know and this method simply won't work. But, its still useful ton raise awareness of people regarding bitcoin and potentially increase bitcoin adoption if we talked that way to a company or services that are in the field of technology.

Once we start the New Year I propose myself to do this at least once in every store I get in. This is exactly how we can create adoption by the law of demand. If there is demand there should be offer. Wink
Once the store managers would find out about the demand of the customers to pay in Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies they will certainly look into ways to accept that method of payment - no doubt about that, but we need enough people to do this.
