Have done this in the past with many restaurants of my city but they were hesitant to accept because of the fluctuations. Only one or two shop managers thought about implementing Litecoin because of the fees but when they couldnt understand the market and couldnt hold for a day or week when the price went down, they stopped accepting it. For a month we enjoyed paying LTC.

Litecoin fluctuates the same and sometimes even more than Bitcoin, no reason to accept one but not the other... At worst they can use a payment processor, like bitpay.

The fluctuation is such a lame excuse, those merchants should take a look how life is in hyperinflation, where the price is permanently fluctuating (upwards, mostly). Perhaps they think a price never changes, but in fact price can be made to change everyday or even every hour. Only when you pay you get to know the actual price, that's the truth here, and in the end with electronic money it doesn't matter (as long as you have enough to pay).

Anyway if they are so scared they could also exchange everyday or even every hour (being their own payment processor).

Once we start the New Year I propose myself to do this at least once in every store I get in. This is exactly how we can create adoption by the law of demand. If there is demand there should be offer. Wink
Once the store managers would find out about the demand of the customers to pay in Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies they will certainly look into ways to accept that method of payment - no doubt about that, but we need enough people to do this.
Yes what you have said is a really a good idea and it is applicable if and only many people demanded about bitcoin or any altcoin as a modr of payment. But if you are the only one who frequently ask the question in every store you are entering if they are using bitcoin as a mode of payment it will not affect them. The only way to adopt bitcoin by many people is through the use of mass promotion.

You can't do that when bitcoin got banned or not accepted as a means of payment or currency, we know that regulation in each country about bitcoin is different, some of them are banning it. Even if in an area where bitcoin is legal, will it be effective? imagine you are in the queue and have to wait until the transaction on the blockchain is being confirmed or maybe you have to pay a higher fee in order to get faster confirmation, I guess it's not ready for that.

It may sound strange for the people who hasn't heard of BTC their entire life. When paypal was just new, I started asking my cousin if the bank she worked allow clients to send paypal funds going to the bank he worked for. She wasn't aware of it back then it was I think 2005. After few years she remember me asking about it and its now available.

The people you asked might remember you one day asked them about accepting BTC. I wouldn't be surprise that 3 years later, we'd be fastfood restaurant accepting not just BTC but other altcoins.

Yes, you’re right about that, when you ask people such a question they will be curious to know what Bitcoin is all about and they are likely going to ask others that same question to know whether they will get to learn it from them, and if not they will go straight to online to Google it out.

I have only been asking that question online, never asked it offline. Sometimes when I work with a freelancer I ask them whether they are accepting Bitcoin as a payment method and when they say yes I send their payment through Bitcoin. I’ve met a few freelancers that agreed to accept cryptocurrency as payment and I’m sure the rest would try to research about it, even though they did not accept it.

I don't think people actually pay attention to the inflation of developed countries' paper currencies when they spend their money. All they see is that things are more expensive and the prices go up. They are so used to dealing in dollars or whatever national currency they use that they automatically think in terms of dollars, to the point where some commodities in bitcoin markets are priced based on the BTC/USD exchange rate.

Which is why people are so concerned about the volatility of bitcoin before spending anything. Restaurant meals usually cost between 10 and 100 dollars. So suppose I had 0.005 btc which is about $44 right now. One month ago, this would be worth about $34. It's not a lot of money loss since the difference is only 10 but some people are conscious of losing even 10 dollars.

This is exactly it. Its a subtle form of raising awareness. Its also like when you wear the (BTC) logo in a t-shirt or a sticker in your laptop whatever. Even if they don't know what it is, they will remember in the future.

Originally paypal was to send funds (wire?) to people via email. The banks had no idea but it worked, i think they used the credit card system. The original paypal was an app for the Palm, which is the actual meaning of the pal at the end of the end ("Pay with your Palm").

The Palm was a PDA, a predecessor to the smartphone, a device long gone into obscurity.

Once you accept bitcoin, the rest of the altcoins become are trivial, for the most part anyway. Realistically the shop would probably exchange "whatever" into what they actually want to have anyway.

Your ideas are great, very good, I think I will tell my friends about this, but I think it should only apply to places like cities, because some rural areas they do not even know how to pay by bank cards, not to mention bitcoin.

With this great idea we can really create a marketing through the 'word of mouth' it's free but it is so much effective, actually I just heard Bitcoin from a friend, they are talking about it, so I search about it because I was too curious what it is, as they have explained it to me, but can't really understand what it is, so I did my job to do research.

It might be a bit intimidating or you might feel silly asking instore at places you know won't accept bitcoin. Chain stores normally. Individually owned stores are the ones you need to go and ask at.
Other then that the best thing to do is to email or message online stores asking if they accept bitcoin even if they clearly don't. If a few people do this they might check into it as a possible payment option in the future.

Hey guys,

I am very happy that the idea is so well received and imitated here. Please keep up the good work, because creating awareness is an essential key to the success of Bitcoin!

My latest idea is: While jogging, wear a large Bitcoin logo on the front and back of the shirt. Thus everyone you meet is confronted with the topic and think about (or at least perceives it subconsciously). I had one longshirt made especially for this:

I often do that from time to time when I want to buy something. There were some events that I go to a coffee shop or restaurant to order some food, and I see that they don't have QR codes displaying.

That's where I started opening up to them about digital payments and Bitcoin. Although not all of them are interested, but at least I let them aware about the positive use cases of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to restaurants and coffee shops.

It's all about massive adoption by giving them awareness.

As you can see, not everyone is interested in the value of bitcoin, even believing that it is a secure payment method, although some people may be interested but it is just a supplement to their knowledge and such superficial reactions, I think we should pay directly with the usual payment methods, it will not waste time from both sides. Do not worry when we do not have the experience of paying with bitcoin, with the pace of interest and development, the future is still very welcoming to Bitcoin to become part of society and the world.

I like the initiative here and you are spreading awareness regarding Bitcoin.

In my opinion, there are only few people who are interested in cryptocurrency and most of them? Well, either they don't know anything about cryptocurrency or they know a bit of it and they are not interested for some reasons. Aside from the one you are doing, there are some other ways too like social media or PTC ads in different sites etc. Wearing clothes with logos relates to crypto is good too as you stated on your last post here. To be honest, I really want to spread but I feel that the people around me aren't interested with this and I'm a shy type person too Cheesy

This is a brilliant idea that can spread and aware people of the potential in bitcoin. Here in my country, there are more local exchangers that merchants that accept bitcoin as a means of payment. In fact, you will see banners and posters of bitcoin exchange in many public places and even outside the bank premises. I believe the act of educating people about crypto will also help its acceptability because of many people, especially those within the range of 40 to 65 years that own businesses do not have an idea of the coin. I once asked a seller in a mall about paying for clothes in bitcoin, I was surprised he knows what bitcoin is but he was not willing to accept it because of the companies where he buys clothes from do not accept it unless he exchange it locally before using it and he said that will be a long process.

Oh yeah, I love this initiative. This is extremely helpful to the Bitcoin community itself.
It will help the adoption and you are right that a single question can reach dozen of people since they will become curious about Bitcoin once they hear that, especiall you asking it for payment.

Good job! Keep it up!!!
I'm not sure about this strategy. I am a person who has a very wide relationship and is loved by many people. and I say I am trading bitcoin and tell them a lot about the potential of this market. but most people just listen briefly and don't have any questions for me. even if I use bitcoin and ETH to pay for a 4K TV, I can't trade crypto with any strangers. I feel that it depends on the community of each country. so advertising like this is not very effective for my country.

I have done this before, but not when I jog, but when I buy building materials (ceramics, wall paint and bathroom equipment). At that time I used a T-shirt bearing the Bitcoin logo, while approaching the cashier I asked "what is the total cost I have to pay, can I pay with bitcoin"? while looking at the logo of the shirt that I was wearing, the cashier said "no". but at the same time, the cashier told this to his coworker, and finally it became an interesting discussion in a building shop.

This might not be effective but if you could see, each small step is contributing to the wide development of bitcoin and cryptocurrency. A simple question asking if they accept bitcoin will already induce a curiosity to their minds that, why people are asking for that kind of payment method, or if you are having a hard time for that procedure, try the other way around, build your own store that accepts bitcoin and cryptocurrency. There, you don't need to ask, you are directly showing people you are accepting payment from a new payment method/system.

It is a good idea to use crypto branded clothing. You could even print out your own on a blank shirt. You don't need an amazing printer like you normally would for a shirt since it is just a symbol and you just use that iron on sheets for the print. It is fairly cheap and most people have access to a printer. Even if you go to the internet cafe and have then print it there or get a custom made shirt online.
It would be cool to see people wearing crypto clothing. It would help strike up a conversation with ease.

This is really a good idea to let people know about cryptocurrencies and bitcoin, It's really a smart move to even ask if they're accepting bitcoin or not, because if they don't know about it, then in the most of times they will ask and you'll get their attention about bitcoin, so if he knows about it, he probably tell someone else and then it will be a loop, so bitcoin will be spread so quick in the whole country which it will gain more popularity and a lot of people will join this community so quick.

The idea is indeed awesome making bitcoin notice by other people just by the logo you are wearing while jogging.
This is actually one of the best features of bitcoin having a good transaction in the payment method. We all know that bitcoin has the capability to send money or receive money in just a blink of an eye. Just imagine if every country would adopt bitcoin and its features. Just think of it when we are buying something using bitcoin in the future. It is not possible to happen since technology is innovating as time passes by, what if the disadvantages that bitcoin has are being solved and every country recognizes it and accepts as our world currency.
