Some prominent cryptocurrency channels on Youtube have seen their videos removed today. It’s unclear how many major channels have been affected thus far, but three have been confirmed.

Could YouTube be cracking down on cryptocurrency-related videos? According to recent reports, such an operation is going on as we speak. Three prominent YouTube channels specializing in cryptocurrencies report that they have been subject to content-flagging today. The move was completely unexpected and has left many in the blockchain space wondering if this may be the beginning of a bigger operation.

Should I move away from YouTube?

I just don't know what to believe, but I honestly think that YouTube isn't gonna doing this by surprise. If they do flag YouTube videos about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, they should have updated their terms and conditions, and their rules about uploading content.

In the article, it also mentioned that there are a group of mass flaggers who might be behind this mess, especially for top crypto influencers out there. There are even cases that after appealing, YouTube reinstated their accounts because of false flagging.

What does this mean for crypto YouTubers like me? If I decide to move to another video sharing platform, I would prefer decentralised and censor-free type of platform.

What are your reactions to this one guys?

I've seen a lot of scam giveaways running on Youtube for a long time. Yesterday I even found a validated Ripple account with thousands of bots following and commenting at live-chat.

I think youtube has messed up a lot with their security I'm not sure if they have knowledge of these scams, although I have reported these a dozen times.

Perhaps they are trying to figure out the scams and they are so clueless that they are actually deleting legitimate crypto videos.

Here is the actual iink: https://beincrypto.com/youtube-allegedly-flagging-popular-cryptocurrency-related-videos/

Anyway, the article itself is poor. The author didn't even bother to contact YouTube to ask what is going on.

Well, this is not true in my opinion. YouTube has been just monitoring its content. It's normal and in my opinion - it's pretty great that YT takes care of their users' safety. Good content on YT isn't banned, check out for example this channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvg2metJsWiVXnT0bIOadvA where professionals talk about current situation on the market.

Because recently, there have been a lot of youtube crypto related videos that promoted ponzi scheme or blatanly promoting scams and phished link. See here: Scammers on Youtube. Don't fall into this scam trap and lose money, guys. And probably more on the Scam Accusations.

And those scammers video are being reported by many users that prompts Youtube to shut them down. And probably they hit another alarm here, so expect Youtube to change their ToS as far as crypto related videos are concern.

If this is real, that's very unfair of YouTube. But I don't think it's true since various contents can be found in YouTube and I don't think they'll specifically target cryptocurrency related videos. If ever YouTube will do that, they'll notify users and crypto channels of course. YT hasn't done any move against crypto so I doubt it. Maybe someone just reporting some crypto videos? That's more possible.

What wrong with bitcoin and cryptocurrency and not have allow by Youtube channel, there are many bad content upload in Youtube but keep allowed like violence tragedy but Youtube still available for every one earn money with their ads by promoting violence videos, its not fair if Youtube want to try not allowed bitcoin and cryptocurreny promote in youtube.

Honestly, there is no reason for YouTube to remove cryptocurrency content. Perhaps this is an accident, I don’t know for sure

Should I move away from YouTube?

Yes. You can try Dtube:

https://d.tube/

Which is linked to Steem and Steemit. To find out more, see the following article:

https://www.valleyarm.com/so-what-is-dtube/

Quote
To understand DTube we must first talk about and understand Steemit, a blockchain-based social media platform that launched in July of 2016.  Essentially it’s a Reddit-type service where anyone can earn rewards by posting, curating, and up-voting relevant content. Monetary rewards come via a cryptocurrency token named STEEM, and in US dollar-pegged tokens called Steem Dollars. So think of Reddit (i.e. users post links, and vote good content up, and bad content down) – but every user who participates gets a monetary reward.

Decentralized Tube (or DTube for short) is a YouTube-like video platform that is built as an application on top of Steemit.  So it’s on the same platform utilising the same rules but specifically for video content. Essentially, users post videos, and are rewarded for creating and uploading content.

And obviously you can post your videos onto Steemit and earn Steem for them.

Steem and Steemit have so much to offer the crypto space, I'm kind of sad that people don't use it, and instead stick to Youtube.

Sad to see this. I'm not sure yet what's the motive is for removing these videos. I don't mind if scam videos like "Bitcoin generator", etc are getting removed but this isn't that. I believe this is just false flagging. Shouldn't be happening again after this, I hope.

The idea of moving away from Youtube is crazy. There are just too much good content there. Right now Youtube doesn't even has a close competitor.

I think we need to make more investigation about the matter. Maybe a coincidence is the reason why the videos have been removed, meaning to say that the investigation should focus whether the content creator of the subject channels have violated some strict terms and condition proposed by youtube. Though, I have a youtube channel, there are some videos that they could restrict based on the jurisdiction of the watchers. There are videos not allowed to be watched by certain countries because it might violate their laws.

Perhaps you need to see how YouTube will act a week after these events. I think it was a mistake to delete a video about crypto. On the contrary, the crypto community is growing every year more and more, which means an influx of new users to crypto content. Blocking such content will mean losing a large audience.

Many of this platforms may not be able to function properly if their natives coins remain stagnant. Blockchain economy model is quite different in my opinion. So we should be mindful of deviating from it.
I think people should be thinking of a new ways to keep the economy of cryptocurrency sustainable long-term. I would even prefer communities of promising cryptocoins to voluntarily delist their coins from most Centralized exchanges and have coins on few exchanges they could refer people to buy them  from. I think this can restore some of the projects to their former glory.

Communities should also be willing to brainstorm on ways to attract hundreds of millions of people allover the world. This is one of the main advantage government-backed companies have over decentralized cryptocurrencies.

People should learn to be alittle tolerate of so called shit posters. They're probably the ones who need these decentralized platforms the most.  I believe they will learn to be a little perfect eventually with rewards and punishments.  This doesn't mean great writers should be discarded. Not at all. Would be better to have them at the top & as role models for poor writers/content creators. And they must have other good qualities like hardwork, skills, talents, passion...

YouTube does not prohibit crypto-related content, there are still many crypto campaigns on youtube videos, in my opinion the problem must be a misunderstanding, because I often see fraud on YouTube under the guise of crypto.

it is because of nonstop crypto scam promotion in youtube
it's reasonable that youtube will delete harmful crypto-related content.
there a lot of crypto scam content on youtube where they talk about coin prediction , coin offering and even add link to their description.
i think that is really harmful for their user its really reasonable if youtube deletes it.

I think giving suggestions and advises about cryptocurrencies on YouTube is not against the rules I have seen many Crypto related videos on YouTube and these kind of videos are still visible there because it was uploaded by following YouTube guidelines and rules so for example if I upload a video about cryptocurrency and tell the viewers about its advantages and disadvantages then I don't think YouTube will block my video but if I only talk about only advantages and ask to the viewers to invest in then my video could be block on YouTube so in my opinion we should create positive and decent content about cryptocurrencies on YouTube so that will be nice.

It's not reasonable because they have no crypto experts employed so you can expect that if they start censoring content it is not going to be done well.
Youtube is mistreating content creators and I know something about it. If many people flag your video they give you a strike but this opens you up to scams and extortions because there are group of people who will flag videos because they disagree with the content. Say something bad about an ethnic group or a nationality and it's going to get taken down because people are no longer allowed to criticize other people in the media. There's no freedom of speech.

Yesterday I even found a validated Ripple account with thousands of bots following and commenting at live-chat.
Most of the comments on Youtube might as well be made by bots anyway.  How many times can people write "who's watching this in [insert current month/year here]?" without it getting really, really stale.

I'm not sure if these are scam videos that are getting deleted, but the folks at Youtube probably don't know the difference or don't care, but it would suck if legit videos were taken down just because they're about bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.  I already can't stand Youtube's policy of silencing the more right-wing content, i.e., anti-feminism and other videos with those viewpoints.  It isn't that I always agree with the opinions, but I don't care for the censorship at all.

And man, there have been some great crypto vids I've seen, especially about mining and other topics that I don't have a lot of knowledge about.  I bet that most of them won't be touched, because there's so many of them and most are obviously not promoting scams.  Hopefully that'll be the case, anyway.

Maybe a lot of ponzi schema content on youtube so some say that youtube will adopt crypto.

Youtube is not so bad. Have your tried IG??? You can get a block for listing to music in the background of your video. It happened to someone I know and she had less than 1000 followers and like 3 people watching.
That's being a bully. I don't think youtube is quite like that. It sounds like a group of people with altered motives to try to pull down legit youtube videos for some reason. Maybe to be assholes or maybe they competition.
I have never know youtube to be pro-censorship and stuff like this so I can say I confidently believe this is not a crackdown but rather a group of people with some motive behind it.
