It is going to come down to what people are willing to pay for the coin on an exchange!!  If the coin holds value, and there are buyers, people will mine.  If there are no buyers, people will leave it for the next coin to try and make money on!!

Higher difficulty will result in more total BONES, but individually you would end up with fewer coins at the same hashing power. The estimated returns for a hash rate of 2MH at the current difficulty of 1.29 would be 150 BONES per day (give or take). If the difficulty were to ramp up to 100, the same 2MH would only net you around 21 BONES per day. So if you have faith in this little coin, mine it while you can and save them in the hope that others will soon join you. Otherwise, move on to greener pastures I guess.

Small total amount of coins = higher price per coin. In this case you cant even tell whats the total amount of bones. Either traders will start to trade it at the price like its going to be total 2 billion bones or its price will be in negative correlation with difficulty.
