I've seen that it's possible to interact with the Bitcoin blockchain using mesh network antennas, satellites and even radio waves. This is great, because it further decentralizes Bitcoin as we know it. But I'm wondering if it's possible to send/receive Bitcoin over Bluetooth? Considering that most devices of today are powered by Bluetooth, it's much easier for anyone to interact with Bitcoin this way than using satellites, and other means mentioned previously. Do you think something like this is possible these days? If so, how can I do this with my mobile device? Any recommendations or suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Is it possible to bridge the bluetooth protocol and the TCP/IP on which the Internet travels? I really can't answer this question.

When we make a transaction through Bluetooth the data gets transferred between the two devices, but there needs a connectivity that synchronize the data that's been received. For this active connection is a must, maybe this is possible but when we look for real time usage surely it'll lead to complications.

It would be possible if both of the parties are genuine to each other. The transfer through Bluetooth would be similar to sharing private keys between two users. If the sending party is to do a fraud, they can claim that bitcoin before the receiver and transfer away as the real sync occurs only on internet.

You are not the first one to think about the possibilities of using Bitcoin over Bluetooth. Offline Transactions and Bluetooth!. It was an old thread, way back 2013. But it looks like the project had died down. To quote: Probably the easiest way will be Bluetooth based: It is based on work Mike, Grazcoin and me started at a Bitcoin Hackathon a year ago. Basically, it saves one "pairing interaction". By scanning the Bitcoin request a Bluetooth channel is established in the background which is being used to communicate the signed transaction back. Because it is a labs feature for now, both parties need to enable the feature in the settings. The merchant needs to actively request coins, and stay on that request screen. As soon as the customer has scanned the request and signed the transaction, the Bluetooth channel is used for broadcasting, in addition to the usual Bitcoin P2P network.

Sending Bitcoin over Bluetooth? Really?? How will the transactions be confirmed when it is sent over Bluetooth? Come on, the transaction of bitcoin can not do away with the use of the internet. Transactions are done worldwide and should be the need for a medium that connects the entire world. Bitcoin exist because of the existence of the internet. Bluetooth can't be used as a medium the connects the entire blockchain network.

Airbitz wallet is one of the well-known have Bluetooth features to send and receive Bitcoin but it is only for Apple devices. Look at this old article from here https://edge.app/blog/bitcoin-nfc-tap-to-pay/It was implemented in 2014 and the Airbitz wallet is rebranding to Edge wallet which is one of the recommended wallets from bitcoin.org. However, the only problem of using Bluetooth your device might become at risk to any viruses and your wallet might potentially vulnerable this is a well-known issue on using Bluetooth. Read this well-known Bluetooth virus before that may affect your crypto wallet: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2172056.0

It may be a bit old-fashioned, but the point of sending the transaction via Bluetooth has to be to send it to a device that can transmit it to the Bitocoin mempool. An implementation via Bluetooth with a project like Locha, would be interesting. Just in case, Locha Mesh is a Venezuelan project that seeks to create a network to transmit Bitcoin transactions via wireless to be transmitted to the Bitcoin mempool later. The twitter of the project: https://twitter.com/locha_io?lang=en

Now I’m thinking about this one and will try to make research about it. Though I heard that some of the new project already have this one but I have no idea about it. Internet is badly needed if you are transacting in cryptoworld and having an option like bluetooth to send crypto is a good one, but maybe it didn’t work well since very few project offer a system like this.

I think this is possible and you could send on the internet and find a similar topic or project.

Anything is possible nowadays. In fact, there are no barriers to creating software with which you can transfer bitcoins.Simply if you take into account the fact that for the transfer of bitcoins you need in any case an Internet connection, then most likely there is no need for such a service.

for now it cannot do transactions via bluetooth, maybe in the future can do a transaction like that, but for bluetooth it seems outdated, even for now Bluetooth has begun to be abandoned, people prefer SHAREit because it has a high transfer speed.

This is the first time I am hearing about it and wondering the possibility of it. Sending Bitcoin through Bluetooth is more like sending Bitcoin without Internet or offline. With few research done, only a few have tried this with Airbitz. It is not popularly lately which shows that it is not fully possible. Would really love to know how it is done though.

Sure but the problem with sending bitcoins over bluetooth connection is that the network can easily be tempered with and bring about loss of funds. I have witnessed several situations where hackers used bluetooth connections in stealing people's data. I believe the use of QR Codes is enough and secured, let's stick with that folks.

It's not save if connection using bluetooth , Bluetooth and radio frequencies are very different. and also the distance of the Bluetooth connection can not be far from the distance of one user to another user.

Yes it is although it sounds like old fashioned but who knows this thing could be our last resort if the internet goes down like there's natural calamity happened and there is no electricity that could run internet and satellites had also been down. Yeah? Just take some risk for virus tho. 😅
