It might be good, honestly, but do we think bluetooth technology is really effucient these days? Because allot of issues concerning bluetooth connecrion are there, to transfer information, you need to pair it first which I find the difficulty in sending money. People might turn out to go back to traditional fiats if that happens so, I better consider retaining the ways we have right now and focus on making the transaction speed even faster.
Good ideas when sending bitcoin using bletooth and keep upgrade their system of bitcoin become most valuable at the future where many people become easy for sending and receiving bitcoin in their wallet, without have internet they can make transaction with bitcoin very easy and want to accepted bitcoin with many countries at the future.

Bitcoin is encrypted with the use of hashing and a lot of algorithms to make sure all of the information and address of the transaction is secured.  Most of the time we are using websites or application to make sure the operation will be secured and no intereaction and to make it safe, If Bluetooth transaction using bitcoin will be created it is more convenient to send to the people near you. Still, it is hard to communicate with the other party because of the limited range of Bluetooth but if they improve this signal is better. This kind of actions very prone to hackers because they can use the internet and jamming the connection to get or receive the money and identify the transaction.

As far as I know, only IOTA has used Bluetooth technology.
Maybe you have to do R&D before actually being developed using Bluetooth. Because so far the development of IOTA has also experienced a significant decline.
So it's better to keep using the existing system because bitcoin has also been running for a long time and still tops the top position of all existing coins.

I agree it will be more hard to transfer money if we will used bluetooth. In fact Bluetooth is not that useful nowadays. Because it needs to pair first and sometimes its not easy to find the other device.

Honeslty, sending bitcoin using bluetooth can be used because i heard legder NANO X wallet are been able to have a bluetooth support, which you can now send and pair with your phone, so you could send cryptocurrency.
It's true that this kind connectivity are prone to hackers because they can easily connect with you, but you can still see which address that you have send your crypto.

I've seen that it's possible to interact with the Bitcoin blockchain using mesh network antennas, satellites and even radio waves. This is great, because it further decentralizes Bitcoin as we know it. But I'm wondering if it's possible to send/receive Bitcoin over Bluetooth? Considering that most devices of today are powered by Bluetooth, it's much easier for anyone to interact with Bitcoin this way than using satellites, and other means mentioned previously.

Do you think something like this is possible these days? If so, how can I do this with my mobile device? Any recommendations or suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance Smiley

Please can you further explain to me how this can be made possible. This is not helping me understand why you think it might be possible to send bitcoin over Bluetooth. Further explanations might help people like me appreciate what you are trying to put across.

Is this for real? I've been using cryptocurrency all these years but I dont have any idea regarding to this topic about sending money through bluetooth. I think that idea is cool because sending through bluetooth is very easy and yes you are right it is really prone to hackers and bad people coz they can stole your coins but the good thing here you can see which user does the address belongs to  and in that way you can easily find who stole your coins.

You are not the first one to think about the possibilities of using Bitcoin over Bluetooth.

Offline Transactions and Bluetooth!. It was an old thread, way back 2013. But it looks like the project had died down. To quote:

Quote
Probably the easiest way will be Bluetooth based: It is based on work Mike, Grazcoin and me started at a Bitcoin Hackathon a year ago. Basically, it saves one "pairing interaction". By scanning the Bitcoin request a Bluetooth channel is established in the background which is being used to communicate the signed transaction back. Because it is a labs feature for now, both parties need to enable the feature in the settings. The merchant needs to actively request coins, and stay on that request screen. As soon as the customer has scanned the request and signed the transaction, the Bluetooth channel is used for broadcasting, in addition to the usual Bitcoin P2P network.

Interesting. This could've become a big hit if many people would've noticed it back then. Of course, Bluetooth is not safe by design. But it could be used as a last resort for P2P transactions when the Internet connection is down or even on emergency situations. Maybe someday, another dev team will revive this project to make bluetooth-based Bitcoin transactions more practical for everyday people. For this to become the norm of P2P Bitcoin payments, the Bluetooth protocol needs to implement some kind of encryption for security. With a new version/specification of the Bluetooth protocol, we might see this become a reality sometime in the future.

Until then, only NFC and QR-code payments will be way to go in crypto land. They're still convenient for everyday use, but not as versatile as Bluetooth is. With a satellite infrastructure and even radio waves for Bitcoin transfers, this may be all we need to send frictionless payments in a P2P manner. Smiley

Airbitz wallet is one of the well-known have Bluetooth features to send and receive Bitcoin but it is only for Apple devices.
Look at this old article from here https://edge.app/blog/bitcoin-nfc-tap-to-pay/

It was implemented in 2014 and the Airbitz wallet is rebranding to Edge wallet which is one of the recommended wallets from bitcoin.org.

However, the only problem of using Bluetooth your device might become at risk to any viruses and your wallet might potentially vulnerable this is a well-known issue on using Bluetooth.

Read this well-known Bluetooth virus before that may affect your crypto wallet: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2172056.0

Awesome. Never thought this would be possible with the Airbitz wallet. It's disappointing to see the Bluetooth feature available only for Apple devices as most people use Android today. Still though, Bluetooth is not encrypted by design which leaves it open against external attacks. Without necessary precautions, you could end up losing all your crypto balance in a "blink of an eye". With other alternatives like NFC and QR-codes, bluetooth transfers might not be necessary after all. Wink

Yeah I agree with some comments.
It's a bit old and slow.
There is a better kind of connection now between two smartphones and this is being done by most application now.
Let us use Xender as an example.
You will be using the WIFI connection to send the file.
The other phone will be opening its WIFI hotspot in his device and the other one will connect.
The good thing is the security because you can input a password thru WPA2 PSK. It is more faster.

This might be an old issue but it completely sounds new to me. I was assuming that for a transaction on the network to be completed, it has to be broadcasted there, which means there has to be an online connection reached.

But I guess the downside of this is that when doing a P2P transaction using a bluetooth connection, not only is it not safe it will have to be like face-to-face. It also keeps the anonymity away from such transactions.

I don't think it is great, some mobile devices have a slow Bluetooth connection which is hard to transfer files. I think NFC is way better than Bluetooth to use nowadays when there is no wifi connection. Sending or paying bitcoin using NFC I think is already existing.

I don't use Bluetooth for long now. I try NFC sometimes but not regularly. I prefer some mobile apps in file transfer. But if thru wallet to wallet sending of bitcoin then NFC is a good option, or let's stick to QR code scanning. If there will be something that will develop a no Internet needed transferring from one device to another like an offline wallet. It will be a great development.

It's not actually powered by bluetooth but it's just most phones today has still the bluetooth function.

But that doesn't mean that it's going to be reliable when someone finally creates a way to transfer bitcoin through it.

But thinking of the technology offered by the ledget nano x, they are connecting the hardware itself to the cellphone so you don't need to have a wired connectivity to your phone, but if you are transacting and sending actual bitcoins or cryptocurrency, your medium there is internet or WIFI. Just to make it clear, you aren't sending bitcoins over bluetooth, you are just connecting the ledger to your mobile device which turns out to have a very different concept. Still, Wireless transactions over internet is what making it possible to send cryptocurrency and broadcast the transaction to the network.

I recently just heard about this that you can actually send bitcoin through Bluetooth connection, but i think you can only send a bitcoin via bluetooth in only a limited distance because every bluetooth device can only make an exchange data for only a short distances using short wavelength UHF radio waves.

Do you think something like this is possible these days? If so, how can I do this with my mobile device? Any recommendations or suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance Smiley

Possible I think, and it may be a little thing for those honorable persons to develop it. The thing is that bluetooth doesn't have a wide range span of accessibility thus, it would be good for around of people that bluetooth can reach. However, transactions usually happened across the globe so, may be developing bluetooth features isn't as much as necessary, imo for now.

Is it possible to bridge the bluetooth protocol and the TCP/IP on which the Internet travels? I really can't answer this question.
It is not possible to bridge Bluetooth protocols especially ip addressing in bluetooth connection because it doesn't have IP addressing when transaction will be made on bluetooth, so it is very imposible to get and do transaction over it. So the bitcoin is very hard to made a transaction due to imposible ip addressing of it. TCP and IP are only applicable for internet connections in laptop and personal computers because that will be the one who will network in order to get the ip and tcp protocol of each events. If it will be happen a transaction through Bluetooth it takes some years and time to configure it by the developers and programmers as well.

BIG WINNER!

Actually sending bitcoin or any altcoin through bluetooth is possible because it is a peer to peer connection. And if this will possibly happen in the future it will much more easier than sending through internet. If this will happen it is a good idea most especially if you dont have an internet connection to send bitcoins or any altcoins.

It seems to me that transferring any data using Bluetooth is very dangerous, because there will be risks to lose your money.  Of course, it would be nice to use Bluetooth to transfer cryptocurrencies when paying for these goods in the store, because in reality not all Internet services are available.  In addition, my country has such retail outlets where there is still very weak communication between mobile operators, since the room is located in basements or in other places that are difficult to access for the signal.  In this case, bluetooth would provide very good opportunities for paying for goods using cryptocurrency.
