i know very well what nazism is, its nationalist socialism a langauge based group creation that then ads race, history and geography to the mix,

but renewables are cheaper and less complicated regarding the maintenance, plus they dont create a potential environmental hazard target.

Sometimes in the past, the countries that determine the directions of others have gold, at some other point, its was the one with the most industralized society, later it was the currency or military power but in this generation we are fortunate to be part of, its the countries with the highest amount of chemical weapons in its arsenal that control things which is why most countries are not concerned with renewable or independence of its people rather how its being perceived in the outer world. With the provocation that happened over the weekend, only few countries have made their position known and one thing they have in common is either they are being sentimental or they know the party or parties concerned can do anything because of the amount of the chemical firepower.

We'll probably have to eventually switch to renewables, even uranium can run out. But yeah, in the meantime, nuclear would be the bridge transitioning from coal and petrol. Plus they don't emit much CO2, for the greens that are worried about climate change.

The real reason why Iran wan't nuclear energy is most of the rival nation of Iran has it. Weapons are not only for aggression, they are also a defense strategy.
The whole world was used to be bullied by 2 superpowers in the past and they didn't wanted others to match their power. That's why they restricted others from gaining nuclear power and weapons. Even today you need to take sides to survive. But there are many regional powers that has rose to the level of superpowers. The Europe and most of the world is still divided into Russian and American lobby, but the regional power of China and India are also not ignorable.

Iranians crave nuclear strength mainly because of deep sense of insecurity they have and their vulnerability towards their enemies like Iraq, Saudi Arabia. In previous years , there have been tensions among arabian countries where Iran has found itself alone cornered by others and such incidents have lead to present attitude of Iran and its people.

the problem with north korea is that it is not religious, religious regimes are expected to be much more dangerous, as they consider the world some kind of a virtual reality, or video game.
additionally a north korea konflikt might still escalate.

I personally dont blame Iran for such attitude as history proves that any agitation in middle east leads to Iran being cornered at most times. Iran miss their persian times and control they had during that period. The sense of insecurity and scarce resources among its people leads to such attitude of hitting back and hard whenever required. This leads to them not leaving the nuclear notch and having nuclear missions to produce more such warheads.
