Iran already admitted that it was their own fault and they thought that it was a US military plane, I don't see why they couldn't identify it as it was took off from the air port.
Also Russians condemned this act as soon as Iran accepted it. I don't think there is any other side to this story. It was a human error and sadly it's too big to regret.

All hell is breaking loose in Iran, with students protesting against the government for lying. The only good thing that I see about this is that they're also calling the general who was killed a murderer, and so with the lack of support from the Iranian people we can perhaps avoid a war.

Its probably because people in Iran have seen that central government has done nothing for there betterment rather just working for there own interest in the region. The only reason they are surviving is because of oil, there government atrocities on locals never came out because of strict censorship in Iran. Iran need to focus on its own people rather then showing eyes to usa.
