One of the important topics we should learn regarding studies and innovation that we're creating is patent. The reason why I created this topic because of discussions about Craig Wraight who's non-stop of claiming as the founder of bitcoin. This is one of my course subjects and I guarantee that it'll be helpful on some discussions like this:

Most of the time when there's a news about CSW, it can be seen on btc discussion already. These are the articles related to CSW issues:and until now, he can't even show a valid proof for ownership of btc white paper.
So let's start the real topic about Patent and Intellectual Property.

Intellectual Property

Simple definition, a unique idea or concept that is made by your mind. It means all of the things you had thought and do are considered as IP.
The blockchain and bitcoin are the intellectual property of Satoshi Nakamoto, so if the real Satoshi applied for a patent with great evidence, It will consider him as the owner of BTC, BTC whitepaper, and blockchain concept not only in the digital world but in the whole world.

Patent

A patent is something you have to apply to claim as the creator of the invention.
For eg.
Craig Wright of NChain is trying to apply for patent on all of the things SN made but until now, WIPO still doesn't grant or approve due to lack of evidence of being SN. The reason why he's still holding the title of faketoshi or fraud for insisting to be SN.

The different kinds of Intellectual Property.
  • Patent
  • Trademark
  • Utility Model
  • Industrial Design
  • Geographic Indications
  • Layout of IC
  • Trade Secret
  • Copyright

How does the claim of CSW will be approved?

1. If he really holds the millions of BTC that are owned by SN.
2. Layout model or design for Blockchain, Trademark ownership of Bitcoin and White paper. These are one of the easiest ways to gain approval but I still, CW lacks all of it.

So here's the recent issue about a patent for bitcoin also known as patent wars.
Quote
The race to file blockchain patents has accelerated lately with one specific firm, Nchain Holdings, attempting to capture hundreds of distributed ledger-related patents. According to reports, self-proclaimed Satoshi – Craig Wright – and his Nchain business claim to have filed 666 patent applications to date, capturing a gigantic portfolio of intellectual property.

His patent application number is 666. [3]

Applying for Patent
Since there's a lot of countries that use Bitcoin, he must include those countries on the patent application to claim Bitcoin in that country. There's a chance that the BTC will be owned by the other people in the countries you didn't include and having also the same evidence but it's impossible.

There are so-called 'patent wars' where people are trying to compete with each other to be the owner of a certain thing because of the profit that will be gain in the market.

This is CW's patent application and a lot of countries are included in designated states. So it means he controls the ownership on those countries when he obtains the approval of the patent claim.

Therefore, Don't be fooled easily by those claimants as SN if they still lack evidence and avoid making false news in the Bitcoin Discussion about CW as SN.

CW can’t prove cryptographically that he is Satoshi or even controls addresses with a large number of coins.
The man is a fraud, a liar, a charlatan.

Every claim he has made is total fantasy. He’ll soon be a tiny, shitty, skidmark in bitcoin’s history. Early Feb court date is coming soon, tick tock!

What about those coins that contain "bitcoin"in their name? And how to solve the problem with other coins that also use blockchain technology? In the first lines of coinmarketcap, we see a large number of such coins, as well as various bitcoin forks. Most of these coins are simply speculating on the "bitcoin" brand.

Of course they couldn't apply for patent rights if their platform are simply an imitation of bitcoin original model of technology.

There are lots of patent wars happened before including with smartphones such as Apple and Google Android. The issue hasn't been settled yet since it's a overdue debate which is which. Same case for software such as blockchain. The only thing other coins can do is ask for consent if they technology or idea is simply an improved version of bitcoin technology.

OP just stating how and this intellectual property works but the solution to your concern still in progress to solve.

I wish Satoshi came back for real to file a case for those copycat coins. See how the world will react if that's happened.

2 more weeks, CSW will be proclaimed as faketoshi.

Obv, those are imitation like what @cryptoaddictchie said and all of the people in the crypto community knew they just did an innovation, meaning they didn't literally make it from scratch unless they made something different on the network to say it's unique.

Thanks for clearing this up with this intensive education about property ownership and frankly speaking i doubt he can ever show proof of the concept of blockchain technology, whitepaper. Not forgetting having access to the private keys holding the genesis bitcoins that were mined when bitcoin was launched. Someday, i wish the real Satoshi would come out and give this old man a break from all the false claims Huh

Maybe this is the reason why Craig Wright felt compelled to file the patent for the WhitePaper of Bitcoin. Since he is convinced with his own lie to be the real Satoshi Nakamoto, not filing the patent can be adding more evidence that he is indeed faketoshi but we know that in the Bitcoin community no matter what is doing he can never be the real guy and we already have many documents proving that fact. Just claiming for something does not make one the real owner of that something. The drama surrounding Craig Wright will continue and the latest is that he does not possess the private keys to the billions of Bitcoin he is claiming to have. Pushed to the corner many times, I am sure he is creative enough to deflect the issues once more. Anyway, I am beginning to love the free entertainment the guy is generously providing to all of us. Thanks, Craig for that!

I learned it from my course subject, I just wanted to share it here since it's very related to what's happening on the CSW issue. SN doesn't need to show up just to debunk this guy, We know he's laughing out there because of CSW's fantasy.

It's hard to understand what CSW wants to do. It was not at all ethical to apply for a patent before he couldn't prove that he was satoshi.
According to many people in the world, he is not Satoshi anyway! To me he could never have been! Satoshi was not such a selfish and ego-filled person, he could not be!
He won't read this posts anyway, but someone has to say to him that he should give up about BTC. He can create another cryptocurrency if he wants. It will never become bigger thing than Bitcoin but it may be good one.

This thread opens my mind now, I am not sure CW is the original satoshi even he often makes mistakes every what he announces always fails like the private key wallet ownership around 1.1 million bitcoin but in fact only the wallet address is scattered about, whether the original satoshi is laughing at him as the clown who is trying to become a real satoshi and finally the real satoshi really appears again this year or the following year, it seems like he doesn't know that he won't feel safe if he gets published unless CW wants to feel himself never safe in his life later, the funny thing is want to patent bitcoin but can't provide proof, hopefully people don't trust him anymore and patent his name as fakesatoshi

The term "Bitcoin" isn't a protected trademark,so every shitcoin/token developer might call his coin "bitcoin whatever".The Bitcoin Core blockchain is open-source code,so anybody could use that code for whatever purpose they want.Keeping bitcoin and the BTC blcokchain open-source and free to use creates some problems but it's the way to go.Only Satoshi Nakamoto can patent them, but he is gone.

Very well said. Correction Mr. Satoshi Nakamoto wasn't gone because nobody knows about his real identity and who knows if he is still trading and making a good money here in crypto world but he chose to stay hideous because of some concrete reason like he was protecting himself and his money and also his reputation. I think the idea of him of hiding to the public is cool and much safer because he have millions of bitcoins and other altcoins.

It's a nice thread mate, this was enlightened me about CSW patent and I didn't know that he was filed 95 patent applications to WIPO.
Probably this is all about his coin that was named Bitcoin SV, he continued claiming he is the real Satoshi Nakamoto even without providing concrete supporting evidence. Look, he is now deserving of those criticisms by our fellow crypto enthusiasts and didn't believe him because of that is only a troll, just to get attention for the benefits of his own coin.

CSW thought he got all he needs for this claim but he's wrong, we'll wait for feb and let see what happens.
Let the time will reveal the truth and let's wait for the result. Dont trust the creator of the hype project.

+1 for a nice and informative thread.

I don't know if I got my understanding all tied up but I've always understood patents to be a sort of bad thing. I know you have to protect your intellectual property, but it seems funny for me that you would try to copyright something that you actually never created in the first place. Like those guys who bought the trademark for Bitcoin. How can you imprison something that belonged to everyone, right?

Satoshi Nakamoto could not have foreseen that the bitcoin he created would have such a large number of imitators. It is the fact that bitcoin is not protected by a trademark that allows fraudsters to use its name in their fakes. I hope that Satoshi Nakamoto will return to correct this situation.

Actually, I am doubt that satoshi himself claim anything. So there is no one to claim any ownership on Bitcoin. Bitcoin is about the community. And its value so high because it is community-driven project itself.

No one disputes this. Bitcoin is created for General use. But we are talking about the fact that the "Bitcoin" trademark can not be used by scammers in their scams. Because trust in bitcoin is automatically transferred to other projects that contain the word bitcoin in their name.

Agree, it seems that people tend to use the term bitcoin or cryptocurrency to take advantage of those people who lacks knowledge about this. There are some countries that still don't trust bitcoin but when they get interested on it, the thing is, they're the common targets of those scam platforms. They're getting baited when they get curious about investments and get attracted to huge ROIs which is probably HYIPs.
