"2019 is an interesting year in terms of regulatory developments in the Philippines on cryptocurrencies and blockchain. We have seen financial regulators such as Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) take proactive measures to address the market’s need for guidance and clarity, from crypto ATMs to crypto trading platforms." said by atty Rafael Padilla,

BSP

Ang mga operators ng ATMs for virtual currency are considered as VCEs na dapat mag register sa BSP at magcomply with anti-money laundering/terrorist financing law and regulations.

AMLC

AMLC also clarified that cryptocurrency and other digital assets are considered as property within the context of Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations.

SEC

The proposed rules also include capital requirements, annual limitation on purchase of digital assets, and prohibitions on insider trading and market manipulation which are also consistent with the provisions of the SRC.

“In the Philippines, the use of cryptocurrencies particularly Bitcoin is becoming popular.”

According to PIC, cryptoasset can be classified in a business as an inventory (PAS 2) or an intangible asset (PAS 38)

Also in 2019, a bill for cryptocurrency "Digital Assets Act of 2019" was also proposed in the congress. We can look forward that the bill will be filed in Congress between 2020 and 2021.

I think, overall, 2019 was a great year for the Philippine crypto. Hopefully this year, 2020, we will see more progress than we had in the past year. Like having more Philippine-based crypto-exchanges or payment processors that accept cryptos like Coins.ph, more crypto-related ATMs and, hopefully, more merchants and establishments accepting cryptocurrencies as payments. All these will only come to fruition if magiging mabait towards cryptocurrencies ang Philippine Government. When I say mabait, meaning no bans, one-sided regulations, and corruption.  Cheesy

Despite the fact na naging bear market nga ang year 2019 but still naging good opportunity and chance pa din to sa mga kababayan natin, naging mas wais na ang mga pinoy now, compare nung mga nakaraan, maraming umalis sa crypto, pero marami din naman ang nagfocus pa lalo and nagtry ulit, and so far marami akong nakilala na naging successful, so overall for me, it's successful too.

2019 was a good opportunity for blockchain and cryptocurrency to gain improvement pagdating sa acceptance.

More merchants na nagaaccept ng bitcoin or other cryptocurrency for 2020.

Tama.

Madami ding mga new investors that are welcoming new technology and trying out bitcoin and this is indeed a good news. Our government are also not closing the door for bitcoin. Sana madami pang maging new progress this 2020 para sa bitcoin.
