Yesterday, I reported 12 posts made by this user. The user is advertising his/her website in other threads from one year ago and has not banned yet. All of the 524 posts made by this user should be deleted. So, the user should be nuked ( Archived.) Here is the comment I wrote in all of my reports. Advertising using external links. Please check the post history of this user.
But only reported posts were deleted. Should I report all 524 posts? Edit: Reporting all post is annoying to moderators (and very time-consuming for me as well). That's why I didn't do this and I wrote a comment in my report.

It takes time to handle all reported posts and make final decision to nuke or not nuke that user. Moderator who were received or will be received your reports will have to spend some amount of time to look at that account. Nuking one user is a serious thing to do, so when decision is made, it should be a right one. I don't know that there is option to revert nuke decision - unnuke ?, like what we have with perma-bans, so if there is no unnuke process, it is definitely require moderators to carefully handle such cases. Should I report all 524 posts?
You can, but I don't think you should do this because moderator will receive 524 reports from you, for a single case. It's annoying. There is benefit for you, increases for your report counts but for moderators it is annoying.

When you find users that have gone under the radar like this for a long time, i contact Welsh if he is free i am sure he will respond as he has responded to me and he will convey that to the global mod and will take the necessary action to ban or warn them according to their discretion .

Nuking is commonly done with accounts that have been recently created to spam and don't have much activity so i don't know whether it can apply to an account that is over 2 years old with an activity of 322.
Reporting all the spam posts would be the appropriate thing to do right now though it's very stressful and takes a lot of time.... that's why some members have been trying to suggest putting a report to moderator button on the post history of a profile.

Nuking one user is a serious thing to do, so when decision is made, it should be a right one. Well, in this case, it is an easy decision. ( Possible Comment ) The user has posted coindar's links besides 1 post in the bitcoin discussion board and a shitpost in coindar's thread... The user at least deserves a warning and a soft ban on posting URLs to external websites but it won't be effective as this account was most likely created for the purpose of advertising so nuking it won't be doing a harm to its owner... Here is the comment I wrote in all of my reports. Advertising using external links. Please check the post history of this user. How about a more detailed comment E.G what I wrote above... Gives more insight to the moderator...

Just deleting posts is solving nothing in this case, because even if posts are deleted he/she just create new ones (10+ yesterday) and 1 so far today. This is a user with 0 value for the forum, and with the previous warning and a temporary ban, if there is no change, a permanent ban would be the only solution.
If I'm not mistaken, only global moderators/admins can ban users.

Yes, this is the best way to put punishment to that user, posting a report regarding about this matter to the right thread will make the right person who could ban that user see it as soon as possible to take some actions. I'm surprised when I visited his profile, cause that is a pure spam he got there. I can't wait for him to be banned because that's what he deserve.

AFAIK,newbies will be nuked if they are found excessive spamming so that user also has activity but never ranked up from newbies so he could be nuked by global mods(Correct me if I am wrong).

I'm sorry, but you're a little wrong. Global mods and mods can nuke a newbie, but this newbie has to have a low activity (25-35, I don't have the exact number in mind). In this case, he can't be nuked. Edit: Reporting all post is annoying to moderators (and very time-consuming for me as well). That's why I didn't do this and I wrote a comment in my report.
In my opinion, you did the right thing. Edit : And I believe your wishes have been granted (temp ban).

Some users request accounts to be nuked or banned within the report comments, but I'd like to think this has no bearing of the effect of the way the staff member handles it. Doing what you did, and asking the moderator to check the post history is the best way of going about reporting users who break the rules continuously. However, what happens to the account depends on who is handling the report, as well as the rules broken. Sometimes, the staff member that is handling the report won't be able to ban that user, and will have to contact another staff member or send a request to those that can. This can sometimes take a little time.
However, the user has been banned.

Welsh, so this user is got a temporary ban which is, say, the first warning of a possible 2 or 3 before a permanent ban? Saying that is the case, it means that the moderators/staff will still have to deal with this issue for a while, considering that this user will not give up old habits so easily. I know that a permanent ban is not easy to give (except in the case of plagiarism), but in some cases (such as this one) it would save a lot of time.
What about all that spam posts, would it be appropriate to delete anything that could be characterized as spam or post-area advertising?

It really depends case by case. I'd probably expect a user posting similar content to this user to be banned permanently after their first temporary ban if they carry on with the same behaviour. There's no strict guidelines here on Bitcointalk where you have to hand users x amount of temporary bans before permanently banning them. Some staff members might have opted to permanently ban that user right off the bat. However, I probably take a more cautious route than others, and look to give users a chance unless its for a more serious offense. However, this ban was requested by myself, and I included a temporary ban suggestion, but ultimately its up to the global moderator or admin that hands out the ban what length the ban will be.
Those posts can be removed, but are probably low priority due to new reports coming in taking precedence. I'm actually a little more active after the Christmas break, so I could look at doing this in the next couple of days.
