I love this community and what it stands for, so im wishing to start a new project similar to Bitcoin but with some differences. What kind of features would you like a new Coin to have? As this is a community project, i will try to pick whatever features and name you guys want, please let me know.

Hello, Welcome to the Bitcoin community.

You can name your project whatever you want, as long as this is not a hype project just like BSV coin did that has a recent massive pumped up(IMO, obviously manipulated). The name of the project doesn't matter, the most important is how useful your project in crypto space and it will adapt to every crypto enthusiasts and investors.

Depends on what changes you will put, a simplified or extreme change.
Name it simply bitcoin or bitcoin extreme. As long as you will be able to specify the difference, since many were confident now in bitcoin than trying other, especially the new once.

Are you making another coin that will be the same concept as bitcoin and that's why you are question for another name? Because base to what you have said, the little difference is what you're just going to do.

What could that be? Do you want to attach the name of bitcoin with that project? If that's it, better not use the name of bitcoin because there's plenty of it that already did it. And give us more details about your project and what you're aiming with that so that we can suggest names close to it.

If you plan to make another coin, I'd really love to see you don't use Bitcoin name in it. Too many altcoins were made with Bitcoin in their name only to fool newbies into buying it.

This being said, the name can be either something related to its differences/new features you didn't disclose (FastCoin, AnonyCoin) or, even better, find some catchy name not containing "coin" in it, like Ethereum, Monero or Dash have. You know Dollar, Pound, Yen, ... they don't need "coin" in their name and we all know what they are. Make a proper new brand (name).

I think you're at the very beginning of the road. But it doesn't make much sense to look for a name in this way. Moreover, you use an assertive word like Bitcoin. I think you should think more. Take your time.

Hello. This community is indeed lovable. And you would love its history more, the only Bitcoin or crypto forum that has its roots directly attached to Satoshi Nakamoto himself.

You are referring to a new altcoin project I suppose? If yes, I don't think it will be easier for you to gather supporters if your coin will generally be another replica of Bitcoin. It is much better if it has a lot of new features in it. We already have so many coins out there. Many of them dead because they are below average in terms of innovation and particular use cases in real life.

I cannot think of any name in particular. What I am sure though is that it will be bad for your coin if it has Bitcoin in it, as pointed out by NeuroticFish.

New name for Bitcoin doesn't make any sense and if you are trying to make another coin that would sound similar like Bitcoin you better give up. That is not going to be successful and you will only confuse people.

Okay, I am happy to see you here with the desire to contribute something for the cryptocurrency and Bitcointalk community. Although I have to admit that maybe we don't need a new project for now in this industry because we are already swimming and drowning with so many introductions and many of these new projects will just be big waste of time and resources as they could not find the much-needed traction. So I am wishing you all the luck with your plan.

So I am suggesting these names: Bitcoin Big, Bitcoin Star or maybe Bitcoin Love. Admittedly, I am not good at baptizing a project. Anyway, the name does not matter too much what matters most is you can get the support that the project needs and that it can stay afloat for many years, survive and flourish. Good luck, man!

I think you should rethink your actions. Why build a new Bitcoin instead of building a service or a product on top of the existing infrastructure? Bitcoin doesn't have any major flaws so it needs a replacement. This far it has become the most reliable and valuable cryptocurrency. You can name it Bitcorn, Bitcoin Supreme, "BeeCash", anything you like, but you will probably end up wasting your time.

If you just wanna practice your programming skills go ahead and create a new blockchain, but for that you shouldn't ask the community for names.

Regardless to both, in renaming the bitcoin I'll bet to rename it like "bitcoin superb." In my opinion, if you want to start a new project, at least you already have a concept even naming the project being developed. if you want to choose a name like Bitcoin it doesn't matter. but it is good whether or not a project is not in the naming, but how the concepts and objectives to be achieved clearly.

if you have serious intentions, you need to make something different from the initials other than B so that your coin name is not considered negative and will always be compared. Then what network chain will you use, if you still use erc-20, then you can make coins with the initials x, d, or something that is easier to remember.

I don't think that you're providing enough details for people to get a feel for what it is that your going for? Why you're creating a new cryptocurrency isn't relevant so much as what it will do, and whats under the hood (code)?
What is your company focused on? What approach are your taking? Will it be proof of work? Maybe proof of stake? Is it going to be a private blockchain, or a public blockchain? Several key factors come into play when deciding a name? You could at least spare the details, thus giving us some lead way to help you pick a fitting name.
  Without details about the project and it's initial approach and direction (roadmap) how are we supposed to get a feel for a good name?

There are already thousands of coins that are Bitcoin clone and pump and dump coins, there should be something unique on your coin, if this is just another clone I don't think you are going to get a lot of support here before you pick a name you need to tell us what your Coin will be like and what's it's purpose for the community.

You can do whatever you want, but keep in mind that your project must be quality and beneficial to the cryptocurrency community. You should not create useless projects and only serve the purpose of pumping and dumping. In this market we already have so much shitcoin like that and we don't need to add new projects like that. I think you should pick a name that wasn't associated with the word "Bitcoin" to have an originality because if you would copy the name Bitcoin in your new coin people will definitely criticize you to hell especially here in the forum since the Bitcoin word only associated I think to the bitcoin fork.

You can create or pick a name that's original and I think you should be the one to create it not by picking up names from forum users it's shows the reputation of the coin itself and the originality of the creator and in regards with the features decentralized, fast, anonymous and untraceable transaction will do for me.

^ Definitely right, your upcoming project will belong to altcoins. So far no one who can defeat bitcoin and yes, there are a lot of altcoins similar names with bitcoin and one of the examples is BCH(bitcoincash coin) until now this coin did not overtake Bitcoin throne. It is easy to have the name on your project but the difficulties are how to make something helpful and useful to the ecosystem.

dude honestly, the interesting features have all been done already, and most of them have 25 different coins doing the same thing even...
if you have technical bandwidth to lend, you should just consider adding your talent to BTC itself, as most of these features others coins have COULD be done on BTC
its just with BTC they dont 1/2 ass things like other coins, something will need to be tested as much as possible before core will add it

bitcoin will remain the leader of other coins. especially until now mastering the total volume available, there are some good altcoins, but even that is far behind in terms of volume. especially even though there are bitcoin puppies, but I don't think they can match it

What elements would need for the new coin to exist?
To me, it would need to be rooted in the community at large as the main feature. What kind of demand would we have? It would have to be market-driven of course. It would also need to have its own blockchain so maybe not ETH-based token. That would also create and need to be a relevant system for payment processing to happen.
We would like to see a completely user-friendly and secure cryptocurrency with a familiar appeal too.

So youre a coder I presume. Maybe just dont use bitcoin as affiliated with your name as a starter cause it's confusing actually. You can pick a lot of good names. By the way, why you asking a specific feature? Can you handle some heavy load to implement it? If yes, then try a double consensus of PoW and PoS a hybrid mechanism that has a full scalability and good tps.

I personally believe that the cryptocurrency space is saturated with diverse projects and concepts which has rendered the value of altcoin almost worthless. Several people are no longer considering the fact that they can invest in altcoin because is too rampant. My advice is that we suspend making new projects and focus on the development of the projects we have in the space.

Agree, if the project is made similar to bitcoin, I think investors will still choose Bitcoin because it is already trusted by investors and also has great liquidity. To create a new project, I think what is needed is which business sector has not used blockchain technology because this is one of the factors investors are interested in investing

This is true. For the majority of the well-informed people in the world of crypto, it is either Bitcoin or nothing. Bitcoin-like altcoin is not interesting. We already have them. What is worse is that we already have Bitcoin forks and another layer of fork from these. We do not want anything like BSV or something. It is either create a unique altcoin or dump this plan altogether.

In creating a new features for a Bitcoin, for me it doesn't matter how was it named. But I rather go for how useful it is to all the crypto traders and investors will get benefited from it. Just like the Aci coin, its features really good about being used as a realtime payment transaction. So in that case, forst thing to do is to make it better and in that way many investors and traders will surely loved to invest in it.

New projects that try to emulate what already exists in my opinion precisely the project will fail and may not be able to develop even though what imitates is bitcoin though. Why project similar to bitcoin, have you planned what kind of similarities because many developers tried to imitate bitcoin but most of them failed to so i think it would be better to have another idea which is similar but there are somethings to offer more than the features of bitcoin i guess. And if you ever want to don't relate the name bitcoin itself like others did because it might end up in a bad way of thinking.

New projects that try to emulate what already exists in my opinion precisely the project will fail and may not be able to develop even though what imitates is bitcoin though. Maybe if for the name itself we know that there are some names that can be said to be similar to bitcoin but actually it's different and for new projects if you don't have new innovations or try to develop things that already exist I think the project will fail and it is difficult to develop.

There's a lot of projects who happens to change the possible alternative perspective of bitcoin, but can't sustain. Bitcoin will remain stronger even though it was in the middle of several controversies, because it has been tested for the past years. For me it's already a legend. You can't expect from newly promoted projects, my impression for them was only a waste of my precious time.

In creating a new features for a Bitcoin, for me it doesn't matter how was it named. But I rather go for how useful it is to all the crypto traders and investors will get benefited from it. Just like the Aci coin, its features really good about being used as a realtime payment transaction. So in that case, forst thing to do is to make it better and in that way many investors and traders will surely loved to invest in it.  

As long the features that can have benefit the users on it. Many project already trying to duplicate the features of bitcoin but mostly failed. One of the features that users will like is the fast transactions for sure many will adopt the system. Being creative to the project this way many user will get interested.

Hello, I'm not interested in now about new projects let alone want to be similar to Bitcoin and add some features to be different. Bitcoin will not be any substitute for its popularity that makes the cryptocurrency famous. But if you want to create such a different project you have to talk to your team and develop it confidentially so that your project is good there is nothing to emulate or plagiarize if you seriously want to develop your own blockchain.

What is worse is that we already have Bitcoin forks and another layer of fork from these. We do not want anything like BSV or something. It is either create a unique altcoin or dump this plan altogether.

Actually, @OP is fine if he wants to make coins like bitcoin, but @OP can't expect much about the coins he makes because after all bitcoin still has better trust. If later bitcoin no longer has trust, other coins will suffer the same fate, other coins and altcoins will always be correlated with the state of bitcoin, so indirectly bitcoin is the main coin.

I have no idea with the new features of bitcoin or any alts. Because I know this market is all about profit, they never expect technology. alts with great technology like EOS, CS, Tezos, Matic are always crushed, only alts with manipulation organizations will have a reputation. Even if you create one of the best performing coins, investors don't care, so don't try to do anything. Our market is only manipulated, you better use your money to invest in coin tops like BSV, BCH.

OP is not going to be fine if his efforts and expenses and all are just going to be wasted because what he is creating is not the one thing that matters. That would be a total waste. Efforts and expenses and talent could have been focused on something else more important or useful. All of the features have already picked by various project and just focus on the improvement of the existing feature. It will be so difficult if you are aiming to create new crypto with the new features. It's much better for you if you are creating a new service rather than create a new coin and that will be much more useful if you can do a lot of improvement in the existing feature.
It will be useless if you are creating a new coin with the same feature without any improvement on it. Just make it easy.

New project that i want is, i think as long developer can really prove it can listed in big exchange already good for me. Because main problem is exchanges really strict about rules coin/token that want to listed in their site. And i consider that thing maybe can be make the coin to be success.

Why similar? Create a better one.
If you have the right instrument to do so then make it.
Maybe you will be the next satoshi or maybe even better.

There are many coins that are being created and they all just look alike in features and strategies.
If you make something unique, chances of investors coming in will be higher than what you are trying to imagine.

Agree, if the project is made similar to bitcoin, I think investors will still choose Bitcoin because it is already trusted by investors and also has great liquidity. To create a new project, I think what is needed is which business sector has not used blockchain technology because this is one of the factors investors are interested in investing

I would actually disagree here to be honest. Many projects actually try to NOT be similar to Bitcoin, but when you look and check it out,,, actually many of them I would say are exactly like Bitcoin, but faster and cheaper, although not even probably even 10% as secure.

We do not need a new Bitcoin,,, if we do Bitcoin would upgrade it.

Of course that his project doesn't have innovations, of course that his projects is without vision. Can't you notice that he asks the community to give him ideas and directions where to start! He is just one of the people that come here to ask people for ideas, it's what is the most important, idea, and he doesn't have any idea what he wishes to create, except to be similar to bitcoin, and we all know what bitcoin is.
Instead, to ask for fresh ideas he need to read this forum from the start till now, and in that reading to find something interesting. At least that is some work, at least it is some effort from him, and you need a lot of work and effort to create something great! Asking others for idea will never help

Maybe if the project you are going to make later has different features from the others or has its own advantages compared to other coins, I think the project that you created will have many investors and also many people who participate in it and for your own name I don't think you should use a coin name which is almost the same as bitcoin or just add a few words behind it, make your own coin name based on the features or advantages that you bring to the coin and make sure you bring a feature that is very helpful to many people or very useful later.

Name can't be a big effect on project although new projects you are planning to launch, must be light speed so you can call it LightCoin. Without new problem all feature already exists in cryptocurrency. You should add a website where your coin can be usable to buy & sell any product. Suppose Amazon or eBay is using your coin to buy/sell and transaction should have more privacy than Bitcoin or monero.

In all honesty if you do not have something completely original then we do not need yet another project that is similar to bitcoin with some small differences, the market is full of them and the few projects that had an original idea or two became really popular but at some point in the future those characteristic will be added to bitcoin and their reason to exist will disappear, so do not bother a coin that is too similar to bitcoin is not going to have success in the market in 2020.
