If the premier league and football league was completely cancelled for the 2019/2020 season meaning there were no winners and there were no relegations/promotions throughout - then it will hit hard for many teams. some are fighting in the championship to get promoted to the premier league and some are in the premier league trying to avoid relegation to the championship. The same scenario is played out across all
More than any other club facing winning their respective league in England, it would be an absolute disaster for Liverpool FC and its fans if they were to have the 2019/2020 season ended early before they mathematically made it certain they were winners. They waited 30 years to win the top league, they won 18 Division 1 titles which was the forerunner to the premier league but since the premier league was created in 1992/93 season - Liverpool have never won it.
Just 6 teams have won the premier league. Only Manchester United have won it three times consecutively and they did it on two occasions. Chelsea and Manchester City are the only other clubs to have won the premier league in consecutive years. Blackburn Rovers shocked the world with their win in the 1994/95 season and so did Leicester City when they won the premier league in 2015/16 season:
Premier League Winners:Manchester United (13)
Blackburn Rovers (1)
Arsenal (3)
Chelsea (5)
Manchester City (4)
Leicester City (1)
Total Top League Winners:Manchester United (20)
Liverpool (18)
Arsenal (13)
Aston Villa (7)
Sunderland (6)
Manchester City (6)
Chelsea (6)
I wonder how the Liverpool fans and the team would feel like if the remaining season was cancelled and all teams start again next season in August for the 2020/21 season.
I will be absolutely fucking fuming if they cancel the PL season. We (Liverpool) haven’t won the title for 30 years & we’re almost guaranteed to win it this season, only 6 points needed. Luckily I think common sense will prevail, the Euro’s will be delayed & the PL season will finish when the peak of the Corona Virus has passed.
