Since Blockchain's inception, there has been an interest among developers and everyday people in decentralizing everything. The introduction of decentralized marketplaces have proven to be a great alternative to traditional services such as eBay or Amazon. After all, there's no middleman involved in the process. The seller can simply list his/her items in the decentralized marketplace without the need to worry about paying fees (like it's the case with eBay) or even getting his/her account banned at will.

So far, I've heard about OpenBazaar which is a decentralized software that allows people to buy/sell stuff in a P2P manner without middleman. The software accepts popular coins like Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, and even Zcash as payment. While OpenBazaar is a great alternative to eBay and Amazon, I'm often curious to know if there are other decentralized marketplaces like it out there? It would be great to see a decentralized marketplace based entirely on the Blockchain to provide true censorship-resistance for both the buyer and the seller.

Any recommendations or suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley

You might want to check from the list I made sometimes ago. Perhaps you might find some of your choices from it.
It has been a while I updated it. I think it's high time I did that.

2 weeks ago I joined a campaign from a decentralized marketplace-based project, Origin. The transaction is without an intermediary or third person, so the buyer and seller directly interact.
There I also saw not only goods, but some also were offering services.
If you are interested, you can visit Shoporigin.com or download the application on Google Play or Appstore. On the website, you can also get an Origin token by following the campaign that will be held every month.
I am not part of them but just want to tell Smiley

Speaking of decentralized marketplace, although I haven't used any before that relate to selling and buying of service or products, I have come across numerous of them during my time in the industry but the easiest to remember is Coinmarketads since I once promoted them through a signature campaign sometime last year. The idea behind the platform was initiated after several bans of cryptocurrency related ads was reported from the likes of YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.

Back then, you can easily advertise your product or services to get patronise while the general accepted cryptocurrency for payment was their native token of the platform called CMA. Haven't followed up the project since then but most likely it should still be active.

I just have one worry towards this type of platforms, my experience from decentralized peer2peer exchange platforms weren't pretty so what are the precautions put in place to reduce or ensure cases of scams aren't experience like in cases where the sellers doesn't send the bought product after payment must have been made since the platforms aren't regulated.

Other than OpenBazaar, there is also Syscoin's Blockmarket Desktop version. I've no idea how it is now since I haven't tried it after the first version. It's a shame that they couldn't make the Blockmarket Web version, that would have made a huge difference.

I've promoted this CMA too in social media and also tried their platform. It was pretty simple to use actually and any beginner can easily learn how to advertise or how to offer their services there.

I stopped patronizing the project during the IDAX issue. After calling the exchange for scamming them with the IEO, they suddenly turned 180 and started writing how good the exchange is.

There are two more that you need to add to this list. They are PublixhOx and lbry.tv

Recently lbry has seena high influx of new user, due to YouTube. Most crypto content creators are using this platform also with YouTube as it allows them to sync with YouTube.

After Medium and steemit, publishOx has become the favourite place for article writers and readers as it pays in BAT and DAI tokens. The amount paid is also good.

I saw a new project which is called Bizpaye. as far as I know, this will also be a decentralized platform where you can buy any stuff. I don’t know how the site will be settled and what kind of stuff will be there, but I would recommend you to study it. I think this is a promising project and I am watching their development.

Great. Never thought there were many other alternatives to OpenBazaar out there in crypto land. It seems that there's demand from people in the mainstream world into these kinds of services. I've checked the above services, and they greatly fit the bill nicely except the one called "Bounty0x". This is more like a place where people can post their bounties for freelance work instead of a decentralized marketplace where people can buy/sell stuff online without the need for a middleman. Still though, the concept is great and something like this could be used by crypto startups/companies to post their bounty offerings in a decentralized platform for the benefit of all.

The more decentralized marketplaces there are, the better it'll be for worldwide commerce. I'm often inclined to marketplaces which make use of Blockchain technology in order to provide censorship-resistance as much as possible. While the benefits are there, we cannot deny that decentralized marketplaces will become highly attractive in the underworld. Imagine another version of the Silk Road running in a decentralized marketplace powered by Blockchain technology. It will be difficult (if not impossible) to shut down the marketplace in its entirety. I wonder how governments will react once drug dealers make use of decentralized marketplaces for their own benefit?

Anyhow, I'm excited to see a growing number of decentralized marketplaces within crypto land. If the trend continues, we'll be able to see huge competition against traditional services like eBay and Amazon. People will be able to truly buy/sell stuff without the need to pay exorbitant fees or go through a middleman for payment settlement. The only issue would be the dispute of funds. But I'd bet it'll be easy to do with trusted escrows in the crypto community. Smiley

Other than OpenBazaar, there is also Syscoin's Blockmarket Desktop version. I've no idea how it is now since I haven't tried it after the first version. It's a shame that they couldn't make the Blockmarket Web version, that would have made a huge difference.

Thanks for sharing. I've never heard about this marketplace before. But it looks like a great alternative to OpenBazaar. The Syscoin cryptocurrency is not that popular, which makes me wonder whenever its decentralized marketplace solution will be a success within the mainstream world. A web version of the marketplace would've been great to have, especially in this world where people use their mobile devices for nearly everything they do in life. This would be a better option than a dedicated application for mobile devices, because of many obvious reasons (mostly security and modularity).

All of the aforementioned decentralized marketplaces are good. However, their crypto options are extremely limited. Syscoin's marketplace only uses the "SYS" cryptocurrency, while OpenBazaar uses BTC, BCH, and ZEC. A multi-currency decentralized marketplace would be best, in order to give people the choice to pay with their favorite cryptocurrency. Something similar to Blocknet's decentralized exchange protocol (Block DX) would be great for a decentralized marketplace that accepts a wide number of cryptocurrencies being traded on the market today.

Nonetheless, it's great to have these decentralized alternatives to giants like eBay and Amazon. This gives us freedom to choose the way we buy/sell stuff, instead of being subject to risks of censorship or single points of failure. I'd be surprised to see a decentralized marketplace living on the Ethereum Blockchain powered by smart contracts. Such marketplace would be truly revolutionary as it'll become unstoppable by third parties. And with ZK-SNARKS technology, it'll be a blast. Just my thoughts Grin
