Hmmm, can you try clicking tools and see if it gives you an option to show the addresses and what happens to the tabbing at the top?

I have never used Electrum on Linux, but a similar
problem seems to exist on OS X, maybe the following post may help :
Windows = Toolbars are on the top of the window itself, so if you make the window small and move it to the lower right corner, your tool bar will be attached to that little window.
Mac = Toolbars are ALWAYS on the upper left hand side of the ENTIRE SCREEN. Regardless of the size of the window.
