So... Our employee shiped units back to Bitmain RMA from canada (to hong kong) costing us approximately $450 CAD per unit, he didn't blink.  This is nearly half the price of the units.

1)  What have you discovered to be the most cost effective means of shipping units back for RMA?

2)  We had a "DOA" unit, does bitmain have a replacement option for DOA where we don't get screwed for paying shipping on a product that never worked?

3)  What is the most cost effective way to get the problem fixed, whether RMA or other channels...

Thanks guys.

Unfortunately you have no options. You either pay for parts and perform the repairs yourself or you shell out the cash and ship it back to them. There are very few machines that they will even allow you to just pull the problem part and ship back to them.
Especially in Canada we've always been screwed, at least in the US they had authorized repair centers, not sure if that's still the case. Even then you can't ship to them for RMA repair. If you are a large enough client you can try and get a coupon or something out of them but that's about it.
If you don't think you will ever recover the cost of shipping and have multiples of the unit, you can always keep it for parts... the ones that work anyways.

Thanks guys.

Dock the employee's pay  10 bucks a check till it pays the shipping.

Only do this if he did not check with anyone.

First off the gear may have been an easy fix.

Second off bitmain has a terrible rma policy.

I can give you a usa repair shop to at least compare what is better for you the next time.

Also come here and ask us as sometimes we can help you out.

Hint's
You buy a lot of gear buy some psu's

I have
2 of each units

Thinking about price... What do u think about the idea of driving a few miners across the border and ship them to the USA site?  Its about money, but have you considered that?

It's been a few years but when I had my issue it was just a dropped chain on 1 board. I believe I inquired about that and because I was a Canadian customer based on my order it was still a no from Bitmain in regards to driving over the border and shipping.

Your best bet is probably weighing the costs against the repair shop Phil was mentioning. It's annoying to have to think about that when you are under warranty. Before Tarrifs and stuff I would have said it may be worth having them shipped to the US and drive over and pick them up, but that would be pointless now.
