There has been so many issues about Libra (Facebook coin) since Facebook confirmed about the project. But this is what surprised me. This latest issue-- LIBRA COIN that was already created by scammers! And yeah, they have managed to  already fund raised about 200 ethereum. (as they falsely claimed)

It is so sad that scammers already impersonated Libra project, created fake ICO to scam people and promoting it directly on Twitter.

Here's the few insight:

Quote
A Libra scam has appeared on Twitter to conduct a fake initial coin offering (ICO) of its coin LIBT. The account has existed on Twitter since 2018, but data from Etherscan has shown that the ERC20 token was created on Jan. 26. While the scammers claim more than 200 ETH has been raised privately, the address the investments were sent to shows that most of the incoming transactions were empty.

  • It was created this January 26, 2020. And give an image to convince investors that this is the relaunch of LIBT (Libra Token) as an ERC20 token.

  • And this one is obviously a "bonus-scam scheme" in which a user will send out .1 eth in exchange of 300 Libra coin. What a lame, it was an obvious scam act.

  • Another, this one of the transactions that shows they only raised a total of 3 ethereum only with the same address and not because they gained that 3 eth because of the public sale.

Quote from: SparkToro
More than 40 percent of @CoinLibraToken’s 12,000 followers are fake.

Be informed, guys.

That's really sad. I just hope people are aware that Facebook and those major companies are capable of managing their own blockchain instead of piggybacking off ERC20 or any other external all the time.

Was the official Libra coin launched? No, it's still only on test chain.
Is Libra something to invest into? No, it's a stable coin.

While I agree that these Libra scams are disgusting, I fail to understand what the so-called investors think they're doing.

Real investors are not going to believe on this, if you are following what's happening in the Cryptocurrency, you are fully aware that Facebook is not yet launch and if they are going to launch popular media will cover their launch and if you are an old investor, you know the recent updates about Facebook and when they are going to launch.

Yes but a lot of investors are not following the news and just want to earn money
And, of course, without doing their homework... so if you don"t know what's a blockchain and what's an ERC20 you can invest money in it right ?
Some people are still sending money to "Vitalik" when he's doing Ethereum giveway, so why not to Libra ?
After it's a shame but it will not damage Facebook reputation, of course.

I think those raised funds are probably on their fake team. Many investors or the real one wouldn't fall for this. Come on, a project like Libra will not do this kind of cheap ICO. This is called a selfdrop on which you will send eth and will received corresponding bonus token.

I hate that they are using the eth platform for creating tokens of the Libra which not even announced that will be on eth blockchain. This is some sort of trick cause they broadcast their address and I'm pretty sure the one got fall on this scheme are the one looking for hype and easy quick bucks.

It's because they never change their mindsets, they used to risk their own money by thinking that it's going to be worth it but they don't even bother doing their own research and that is the reason why they end up losing their funds. They get easily blinded by the amount of money they can possibly earn but they don't analyze every decision that they are making that's why scammers are taking that opportunity to deceive them. It's the reason why doing your own study is suggested and recommended because it will help you determine if something is real and legit, especially nowadays that's why we need to learn from it and used it as a guide to avoid having the same problem.

~snip~

On the one hand, it is tragic to see that there is such a percentage of naive people who have no idea about the fact that Libra does not even exist, and on the other hand we can only say that opportunity makes a thief a thief, so it should not be strange that it is possible to sell something that does not exist. There is so much nonsense written about Libra, including this forum - from becoming a Bitcoin killer to making ordinary people profit from it. As you say, it can only be one more stable coin, so why would anyone invest in such a coin?

Human stupidity and naivety know no boundaries, and the digital age has become the perfect platform for fraud. Imagine a guy in a robe and slippers drinking his morning coffee, selling Libra coins, and says, "Thank God for so many idiots in the world".

While I agree that these Libra scams are disgusting, I fail to understand what the so-called investors think they're doing.

Investors don't even know that real Libra has its own blockchain. And scammers released fake Libra on the Ethereum blockchain. They don't want to be interested in news about Libra and don't know that this coin hasn't been released yet so they buy a fake.
And this fake Libra site is not the only one on the network, I know more: libra.io, uplibra.io
Everyone should know that the real Libra website is located at https://libra.org/ The rest is all fake.

I see it as scammers utilizing the opportunity they are being faced with or presented with. Scammers don't joke with such opportunities and there are people who have the habit of believing whatever they see without due diligence and such people are easily defrauded by scammers, although not all. Another good example is the scams which has happened with Corona virus, where many scammers have created different coins through which they exited scam with. So in conclusion, every opportunity that scammers see, they will leverage on it, thus let everyone be careful of what they invest in; in the same way, there are still opportunities that gives rise to good projects, in all due diligence matters.

Real investors are not going to believe on this, if you are following what's happening in the Cryptocurrency, you are fully aware that Facebook is not yet launch and if they are going to launch popular media will cover their launch and if you are an old investor, you know the recent updates about Facebook and when they are going to launch.
other than that Libra also doesn't have ICO they have private investors that can full fill all the money needed in case they are going to launch it.

Before investing persons always need to check if they are following the right channel to the project they want to invest even how popular the project is don't invest blindly search everything you need before put your money in.

Fake Libra creator team are many. Some were even conducting a self airdrop on telegram while the origin team were having a running battle with SEC. People really need to be careful.

I can´t imagine whou would really trust these scammers.  Roll Eyes It is more than obvious that all of these attempts are pure scam because Libra is only for private investors and not for retail investors.

Their target is newbies. Those who have no idea about such scams. These scammers take everything from them as soon as they start their journey in crypto. Those who are old know that these are scams, but those who are new to the crypto market believe in such promotions and send money to scammers. Since libra is Facebook's currency, it's easy to believe here for newbie. Because they think from the beginning how their fund will grow fast.
