Trump has unveiled his Middle East peace plan and as expected it has left the world leaders divided, while many are being cautious some leaders are already rejecting the proposal. It’s pertinent to note that the Palestinian leaders are not at all happy with this plan, and I wonder what will happen if Israel pushes ahead with the proposal?.

It not something new that the U.S. attempts to push its own solution for the matters involving Palestine. Their 'peace deals' might seem quite appealing in terms of an economic sense, but promising to drown Palestine with cash and development isn't something in their interest, at least I'd say not any more. Those people have learned to survive in post-war conditions, have gone through wars, and never allowed to experience sovereignty or real stability in what they consider their own land.

The very core of the Palestinian issue is the demand of sovereignty over claimed territories. The deal promoted by Trump was automatically rejected by Palestinian authorities. Mind you, they've been sanctioning the entirety of the Trump administration ever since Jerusalem was recognized by the U.S. as Israel's capital.

I'm fairly certain it's just a joint push from Trump's administration and Israel to attempt and make Palestinian authorities bad. The U.S. might be attempting to remind the international community that Palestine hasn't had proper. But that doesn't undermine that the U.S. didn't even entertain the discussion of Palestinian demands, instead promising land, sovereignty and investment if they back down on claims. This agreement brings in no progress and is instead making matters even more complicated.

Is trump just trying to make the financially poor Palestine look bad for not accepting 'bribery' in the scale of billions? Who knows. I'm sure that doesn't help Palestinians consider the proposal when the promised sovereignty comes with a guarantee, a country that supports Israel in breaking international accords.

America has strong ties with Israel. In Security council any resolution against Israel is veto by USA. Its very unlikely that USA will do anything that will make Israel unhappy. ME countries will not agree to accept Jerusalem as Israel's capital. So i don't think this plan will move forward.

US has always been divided politically as it's a form of oligarchy. Normal people have very less involvement in politics.
As of the middle east plan, it's one of the first step by US to insure a peaceful future of the middle east. Though the current offers sounds very bad with the perspective of Palestinian claims, at the moment, Palestine controls much lower area and if this deal is not made, this would decrease every year.

things like in the OP's bbc link, saying Mr. Trump instead of 'president'
in previous presidents they said president obama and president bush not mr bush or mr obama

anyway. anything trump says has to be passed by the nation (senate) so all i can see is the senate try delaying anything trump proposes for another 11 months and hope someone else gets elected in so that they cn veto anything that is deemed as a dumb trump plan
and it seems media is already trying to sideline trump as just a man and not a president by not using the formal title when describing him.

but hey with november approaching i wonder what trump will plot to try and win people over in a hope to stay in place. or what foolish things to do to ensure he is not elected because he has had enough

Trump isn't doing the dividing. Rather, the people are doing it.

The talk against racism doesn't stop the differences between the races. It only causes agitation among everybody.

People are different. For example, there are some 70 different nations/tribes in Ethiopia. They might be similar in some ways, but they have big differences... big enough to cause agitation among them.

All that Trump is doing is upholding everyone for his own nation. You can't easily combine nations when there are big differences among customs/religions/ideals/etc.

Why fight it? Let everyone be his own nation. But let them all live peacefully. All Trump is doing is attempting to make peace between different nations.

First and foremost I would like to correct OP when he says that Trump has divided America. The Democrats are the ones who have divided the country just because they couldn't live with the fact that Trump was able to win over Hillary Clinton and they started the Russian collusion allegations which took three whole years and amounted to nothing.

The Israel PM -- pardon me as I don't know how to spell his name and I'd rather not butcher it -- is going through a very similar process right now, as he needs the peoples support during a time where he's being indicted and it's unknown on if he'll be able to form a government.

I guess we'll see what the document looks like in the coming days.

As always USA favoring Israel. This peace plan is rejected by Palestinian authorities. Peace can only be established only if someone can mediate between Israel and Platestine, not doing any unjust to any party.

I don't think he cares about the Jewish vote nearly as much as he does his relationship with Israel.  I think its pretty common for American Jews to consider themselves American, with little or no loyalty to Israel.  Also, there are only ~7 million Jews in America and half of them live in NY or CA and those that live in other states are mostly Democrats due to Republican anti-immigration stances.  (at least that's been my perception after some reading over the years and personal experiences, i'm not going to cite a bunch of sources right now though)

The relationship between Trump, the Kushners and Netanyahu goes back a long time though.

Netanyahu lived in NYC during the 80s when he was the Israel ambassador and became friends with Trumps father, Trump, and Jareds Father.  Both the Trump and Kushner companies have decades of history involving real estate, loans, and other other business stuff with Israel.

I mean as I said, it's more about the evangelical Christian vote then the Jewish vote. As most Jewish voters are democrats who feel no political affiliation -- I'm talking about the reformed Jewish ones here, the less religious type. We can assume the more religious you are you'd be more conservative (at least when Jewish, or Christian)

I have some friends who are in areas with a good amount of hasidic Jews, who are VERY conservative. Anecdotal. but yeah.

The evangelical vote is the big thing here, not the Jewish vote.
