'Grin' - The first altcoin accepted from Bitcointalk?

I was just browsing through the options for upgrading to copper member today, and noticed this:

I would have never thought that the Bitcoin forum would start accepting Altcoins for payments related to the forum. Afaik, transactions involving the forum were so far being completed solely with the use of BTC.

Do we know since when Grin started being an option to pay for copper membership? And what's the rationale behind accepting it?

It's a coin being used as a test-bed for MimbleWimble i.e. for Bitcoin tech. Nothing else nothing more.

As we now know that Grin and mimble-wimble is not really private as people was thinking,

No one says that Grin is really the most anonymous coin but it really offers good privacy protection.

It is NOT offering any privacy protection.
Any privacy offered by Grin is pure delusion and nothing more.

Grin was fun to mine about a year ago, and I liked it for it's privacy features. Now that it's known to be a less private than originally thought it just feels like another altcoin, but one that's kind of a pain in the ass to use. The MimbleWimble protocol still has scalability and efficiency features that are worth building on.

Are there any forks of the Grin yet? If it has some usable features there will probably someone want to improve it.
