I bet we're all familiar with Minecraft. And if you love Minecraft, I think this news will be interesting for you. SatoshiQuest is a new mod in Minecraft that just hit the front page of Bitcoin subreddit. It is said by the creator that it give players a unique bitcoin wallet linked to their uuid in Minecraft. Players will have to log in and they will receive an address where they can deposit a small amount of money like $1 worth of Bitcoin to purchase lives. They can explore the game but the game becomes more thrilling when a certain player is close to the loot, other players can steal it. SatoshiQuest creator says the transactions are done on-chain and the game will reset after finding the loot. Here's the link for more information about this news:https://dailyhodl.com/2020/02/02/bitcoin-btc-treasure-hunt-launches-on-minecraft/
Minecraft is a famous game that even different ages were enjoying to play this game. Now with it's new mod, it looks really fun especially for those who are also into Bitcoin. It's like you're treasure hunting in the game but with a real treasure. What can you say about it?

Cool idea of treasure hunting but why is it that they have to announce the player's location when it is about to get the treasure? Now, thinking that with the system that selling lives in order to play the game, and millions of possible participants on this game, this is a good money grab option for the mod creator. There will be sure a huge blood bath here fighting for that "treasure" thus, good sales for the lives requirement to play the game.
This also beats the idea of navigation, exploration and treasure hunting, instead, people will just wait for the notification that someone is near on the treasure and just pk that poor player. Though, I know that there is some positive side on it though I only see developers raking huge profit on this one.
Unless the treasure is worth hunting and pk'ing, I will stay away from this kind of game system.
But, personal opinion aside, this is really cool since it will introduce crypto especially Bitcoin to millions of minecraft players.

This will make Minecraft more interesting among bitcoin enthusiasts who love the game. And as many that do not know about bitcoin, but play the game, this will also be an opportunity for them to use bitcoin and maybe it could arouse their interest do more things with the bitcoin other than playing the game.
I don't play Minecraft, but this news will make me try out satoshiquest on it, as long as its safe to do so.

Will this kill his idea? I don't know but; since Lightning Network is there, I guess it would be better for him if he had implement way to use Lightning Network. It would be very efficient and more attracting in my opinion. However, it's a big deal for the bitcoin community. Most of the people have very good idea about Minecraft.

Imagine having the server filled with anarchist people and making it the next 2b2t server with a real goal. A fun and harmless approach in making people dig deeper about bitcoin. Of course we know that this wouldn't be easy knowing how big a Minecraft world is to begin with. It would be nice to have some clues to this treasure hunt though I think by doing so it would take the fun and thrill away.
Since we have ran out of ideas promoting bitcoin, perhaps integrating them into games in a fun manner would make up for it. Personally I think that it's a clever way to promote a server that actually helps get the word out.

It seems to me that the idea has not been finalized, the cost of transfers will hit very hard on such small amounts that are offered to operate by players. In any case, the idea is quite interesting, although not new, I am knowing many projects that tied cryptocurrencies to games, but nothing good came of it.

Is this true? Then I should come back and play Minecraft again. This is one of my childhood game and it really amazing to imagine that your favorite game and cryptocurrency has merged. but... considering all the factors when transferring the money? it'll cost a lot and we can get to the point that's not worth it if all of the transactions are on-chain. I guess LN should be applied to this... SatoshiQuest creator says the transactions are done on-chain and the game will reset after finding the loot.

There's also a server that already existed called BitQuest (also in MC) with the implementation of LN on that server. Only a few people know about BitQuest since it was made during the early days of BTC and now they aren't existing anymore.

Uhh, no it didn't. The reddit post linked in the article barely has any comments and upvotes so, the author is lying. Though, I know that there is some positive side on it though I only see developers raking huge profit on this one. This guy gets it. This mod sounds like nothing more than a poor man's 'Pay-to-win' battle royale. And like this user also said, from a gameplay point of view, the game has a major flaw because, unlike one of the biggest battle royales in the industry like PUBG where you at least need to keep moving all the time, in this "Treasure Hunt" mod you can just stay still until you know who's got the loot and then try to get it for yourself so, the game doesn't really encourage you to do something right from the get go.

Cause if they didn't, the game would be quite boring now won't it? Plus, it's treasure hunting, so if you actually found the treasure before anyone else did, and you didn't even have the chance to fight anyone, it kinda kills the fun of fighting against others no? Plus, Minecraft is mainly centered around playing around, so even if money is involved, having fun is still a must. As for the money part, It's kinda difficult for the mod creator as well, since he did create the mod, and additionally, rewards are given to those whom wins. The mod creator would probably have close to zero if he gives out a huge pot depending on the number of players and deposits the mod gets.

When it involves real cash many people will surely be interested in it, I know Minecraft for certain but I don't usually play it yet but I am familiar with what I am going to do and explore, it also includes houses you can take rest on when the night comes that is very dangerous outside because of various zombies lurking,
Well, the idea for a Bitcoin treasure quest would surely take it to a whole new level, Minecraft lovers would surely take interest in what is bitcoin and how to earn it, and Bitcoin enthusiast that doesn't play Minecraft would take a plunge in taking the opportunity in playing it, and it really takes a more significant combination Bitcoin and Minecraft because Bitcoin starts with the process of Mining it to take a block and Minecraft here have surely introduced it to all players of Minecraft all I wish is for the game wallet to be secure when someone has looted the treasure.

Thanks for sharing. I've been waiting for something like this inside Minecraft. But it's been years since i touched minecraft so i might not be even close to win the challenge, but i might introduce this to my son, and to get next generation interested in BTC while playing what he likes to play anyway. This is like a perfect platform for treasure hunt and BTC always seemed like an obvious winning price to me. I wonder if this is a new development on the mod scene, because i would be surprised if it hadn't been done before.

I was like 13 when I last played Minecraft. I think there should be another mod from the devs that will emphasize the introduction of Bitcoin to users, like probably there will be a lot of kids and teenagers that are still playing this game. There are a lot of currency mods in Minecraft from my past experience and I think digital currency simulation mod in Minecraft isn't a bad idea.

~snip
It would be a thrilling game for every player, knowing that real money is the prize so everyone is eager to win the game. And based on what I have found on the internet, 90% of the total money raised from depositing goes to the treasury fund. While 10% goes to the developer. And I think that's fair enough for both the treasure is. Source:https://bitcoinist.com/minecraft-meets-bitcoin-with-satoshi-quest-treasure-hunt/Since we have ran out of ideas promoting bitcoin, perhaps integrating them into games in a fun manner would make up for it. It's an interesting way to promote Bitcoin. Some people wouldn't bother to learn things about Bitcoin maybe because they find it too boring. But with this development, players can have fun playing Minecraft while learning about Bitcoin at the same time. I've seen some of us here in the forum before were looking for a game where crypto can be applied and now, this is our opportunity to enjoy the game. Not only for us but it can also target other players for a possible awareness on Bitcoin. If they would first encounter Bitcoin through this game, it can increase their curiosity to learn more about Bitcoin *snip* Minecraft is a famous game that even different ages were enjoying to play this game. I also know for a fact that I am not that good but engaging with this kind of game would be really fun. It's like you're doing both things that you like. You can introduce it to your son cause I know most kids nowadays like Minecraft but wouldn't it be too risky to let your child play when it involves real money?

I have the same concern about the mechanics and this is like the actual gold rush. People will rush to get the prize and this is the actual scenario that happens when someone is near to the treasure/loot.
I don't play Minecraft but with this integration, I might try it since I have time to explore the game and test it. This is what we need if we are for the games, a connection of bitcoin and other cryptos which we can use IRL.

I find myself suddenly interested to play the game, my cousins who are just kids are playing this game, it doesn't really look very attractive game to me. Someone will report here they looted about 1BTC in there for gamers to be motivated. If it can be done with BTC, it could also be done with some other altcoin like ETH, LTC of BCH. I bet Justin Sun can do a lot better for his TRON promotion.

Reminds me of 2013 Minecraft BTC servers. Good initiative especially considering the huge number of players worldwide. Wondering if and for how long will it last. It sounds and looks way more fun than the servers which paid BTC in 2013 for destroying blocks. If the game style is completely open-source, I guess more servers are going to adopt it. Let it become a Minecraft trend and Bitcoin would hit the headlines again. snip
I doubt pk'ing would be allowed. If so, all players would execute the command and basically all die instantly but 1 lucky player. The article doesn't mention anything about the way this "battle-royale" style was planned, but I guess as soon as a player gets close to the loot, the player's coordinates are revealed.

Such events seem very strange to me, I am not sure that they will actually attract many new investors to the crypto industry.
Not everything is about attracting more investors, sometimes people just do things for fun and engage with community. Bitcoin is not some Ponzi scheme where every member must recruit multiple new members to keep the price growing. I dunno if this game mod is good or not, but it's an example of Bitcoin adoption, and this in itself is already great.
