I'm sure that those who are into crypto since last year knew that downloading new mobile wallet from play store can be dangerous, well this is for newbies who just entered crypto space this year, most top popular mobile wallets have fakes built by scammers too, before you download any wallet find its website and download through the link instead
oh i think its better to have a hardware wallet because most of the people here said that its safe from thieves.

Hardware wallets do support most of the major cryptocurrencies and tokens, but there are also some coins which don't have a hardware wallet support, take for example MB8coin. For such coins, if you need to hold them you'll need to go for a desktop/mobile wallet which supports it. So when looking for Desktop/Mobile wallets, it's always better to go to the official website and then download it from there than randomly shared download links.

personally for me i am not a big fan of cellphone based wallets there are lots of security issues so i would suggest few security tips to follow:

Must enable 2FA and it would be better to keep separate phone one for every day use and other for your financial activities as your might lost your phone so it's always good to have a backup ready to go.  Avoid installing apps from unknown sources and don't install wallet on rooted smartphones as some shady apps/games can steal your data quite easily.

I agree on you somehow but you know what? I can't help but to think sometimes that answering newbies' questions are already an act of spoonfeeding (more particularly on questions which have obvious answers). Don't get me wrong guys, I love helping others especially the newbies because I once become a newbie as well and I know that feeling of struggle Smiley. However, searching for a legit wallet which suits for you is one google away and you can verify it on your own by means of reading articles, testimonies, asking friends or even by digging existing threads here on our forum; right? So I expect that even a newbie will not easily fall on such trap made by the scammers as long as they research very well Smiley.

It is more safer to download from a wallet for a specific coin's website link. Downloading a wallet from Google play store any other untrusted source is very dangerous for the users who have downloaded. It may steal information from devices which may hack other crypto wallet for that user.

I think most mobile wallets on google playstore are now safer, this issue of fake applications have been attended to last year when many are complaining about fake apps on playstore, I download on there and update my wallet apps from time to time
that is the problem - MOST of them are safe, but there still are dangerous ones.
as the user who is deep into crypto it won't be hard for me to understand which one is which.
However, as the name of thread goes - it is for newbies only

I don't know if it's only me, but I feel more comfortable and safer downloading apps from Google Playstore than from the Google browser and websites. I trust Playstore so much when it comes to security and safety of the apps and games.

If not, then it will be safer to download the wallet from the official website of that wallet or crypto project. I would also like to remind everyone that not all wallet/crypto projects are safe even if they say they are. Some "bogus" projects will ask you to install an application or software in your phone or pc/laptop. Having an antivirus is also a plus especially in this business.

It's too dangerous for you to download new and unreliable wallets to your phone or computer. They can steal all your information and private key whenever they want, in 2018 my friend was their victim. He had stolen more than $ 20k because they stole his private key

I often advise anyone that it is not easy or tempted by the big lure that requires participants to download cellular wallets to claim project tokens. it's very vulnerable to hacking, unless the company that you are following is really official, including the developer, the real website and the wallet is safe to use like Trustwallet, I don't think it's a problem.

I would also suggest they search on coinmarketcap for the cryptocoins they wish to download. It's much safer to get their wallets and websites this way.
Not really a good idea to get them through google, twitter, telegram search due to the numerous fakes that exist.
In able to store your coins you need to dowbload an app in the playstore. But please be careful becauae some applications are created by scammers that are shaped for their scams. Before downloading an application you must research first for the legit sites in where you can keep your coins. Through that you can make sure that you have a legit application for the storage of your coins. You must also look for a bitcoin user so that you may have a living testinomy and someone to be your mentor when it comes to bitcoin.

Yes sometimes their link description is not applicable and accurate to the real crypto wallet. There are some cases that the wallet there downloaded is not the real one and after they store their coins it's gone. They transfer the coins without any authority and other thing crypto wallets should have security features that verify every transaction in you make especially in withdrawals and transfer to main to trading wallet. They should verify via email or google authenticator to know every transaction and to have history ledger. We should be careful in downloading apps, sometimes they manage to open even our personal accounts and data.

Play store have some rules and regulations before they will list some apps so there is a very less chance that scammers can penetrate but if there are dangerous wallets that were able to penetrate the apps store then it is best that we should be careful especially if we have huge money to store. But in my case, I only trust our local exchange mobile wallet and I didn't use any wallet in which I am not yet familiar with so I can safeguard my money.

Aside from that, I also make sure that I will not put that huge money in one wallet only so I can lessen my loses in case one of my wallet will be expose to scammers or hackers.

It is true, there are so many projects now that requires downloading new wallet. Not to mention names, I have also felt how safe is this, I did not download my ethereum wallet from play store though. We have to be very careful, one cannot afford to just loose ones wallet. But how do we do the new project too. Would we ignore them?

Researching may require an excessive amount of time and exertion however it is unquestionably valuable since it will give you a superior comprehension with respect to various crypto wallets. Despite the fact that occasionally newbies fail to acknowledge how researching can control them on choosing which wallet can make their assets safe and made sure about from con artists and hackers. They have to understand that it is our obligation to secure our assets that is the reason finding a dependable wallet is an absolute necessity to guarantee that hackers won't discover a chance to abuse our assets and resources

Researching should also be backed up by personal use. I agree we should go for most secure all the time,,, but if you are just trying out for the first time, and you may not have much, you might want to experiment with a few wallets, and also to try out using them. Maybe you do not need multi-assets. Maybe you do not need multi-sig, etc.

I agree with you, I personally  like your suggestions. Don't store your coins with something that you use every day because that will be dangerous for your assets if someone can break your mobile phone. Many instance happens about the hacking of mobile wallet and it is because of those scammers and hackers. So I will give the same advice to new comers don't do such kind of mistake .

The extent to which a website has gained its trust depends on its reputations, reviews, commitments, criteria, and running activity. If there is one thing lacking here, then there will be some nonsense. And that should be discarded.

You can download wallet by checking downloaded times. Always some users left useful feedback on play store about this app service. At least for first time use only top wallet. Use trust wallet or coinbase, if you like control on your wallet than use atomic wallet. Trust wallet is also good for mobile users.

The popular wallets like blockchain info are secured and can also be downloaded from playstore and user friendly especially newbies, but these has to be well researched by newbies while it could be dangerous to experiment with wallets whose security and credibility is questionable to avoid losing some hard earned coin

Actually mobile wallet not big safety for your assets because if anyone just one moment catch your phone then their can be hack. Equally if you haven't hide your private kyc documents then hacker will attack your wallet easly. So like to better use hardware wallet be safe always your assets and you can be worry free.
