The new update enables you to use a hardware wallet (Ledger Nano X) with Blockstream Green wallet on an iOS device! (They previously supported the Android system.)
We're excited to release #BlockstreamGreen v3.3.3. This update includes @Ledger Nano X support via Bluetooth for iOS (USB on Android), GDK 0.0.27, support for #LiquidNetwork payment URIs, & bug fixes. Download now on iOS & Android! #Bitcoin 🌊💚 https://blockstream.com/green

The offer will be suitable for those looking for some discounts + enhance security.

For those who ask about the lightning network:

Quote
Lightning is on the roadmap. Stay tuned.

Generally, I am not a fan of that wallet and I advise everyone who wants to use it to take this matter into consideration:

Quote
A Blockstream Green wallet associated with a hardware wallet creates a 2-of-2 multisig wallet where one key is held on your hardware wallet, and the second key is held by the Blockstream Green service. The second key serves to authorize transactions through Two-Factor Authentication.

If you use Blockstream Green paired with a Ledger Nano X you would have a multi-sig wallet, and are there any other advantages that it could give other than the additional layer of security? Installing another application for another wallet is too much, I think. Ledger Live already does the job for me.

Probably I would use it when there's already a lightning network. I can't wait for that  Grin

I wouldn't call this an extra layer of security, I'd call it an extra risk factor: you don't have a backup of all required private keys, so the classic "not your keys not your coins" rule applies.

Using a multi-signature wallet will increase your risk more than enhance security.
You need to sign the second signed message before making/broadcasting any transaction, and therefore you need them to send coins.
It is true that you can obtain signed transactions before, but why all this this complication?

Also, you will need a lot of luck if you want to clam hardforks

I don't get the reasoning behind this.  Why is blockstream wasting time and money developing this into their app?  Bockchain.com has a very similar feature, where you can use a hardware wallet as a 2FA device.  Odds are anyone who owns a ledger has the understanding that he has sole control over the funds held in his wallet.  So why would he choose to use what is essentially a custodial wallet and relegate his hardware wallet to a 2FA device?  It makes no sense.

If you are a risk-taker, probably. I was thinking about it the wrong way, for sure. Then it's meh for me.

I don't think it's necessary to use that kind of service anymore. It's just going to be more complicated than it already is, so why bother?? Maybe when there is lightning support?
