OctaSpace is a public cloud platform with the main idea to implement services build on top of hardware provided by users.

The sort of hardware may vary, from low-performance devices or cheap VPS to mining rigs and carrier-grade servers located in data centers.

The project goals are:
 * Provide a marketplace for renting computer power focusing on GPU instances
 * Implement a VPN marketplace using popular VPN technologies
 * Provide infrastructure to deploy applications and databases mostly close to the end users
 * Implement distributed data storage and use it as a backbone for CDN service

The sort of tasks the project focused on:

 * CGI rendering
 * Digital image processing
 * Scientific modeling
 * Data storing and distributing
 * VPN technologies
 * Other tasks/fields which require massive computation power to get be solved

The project is a little bit similar to the projects like GNT and RLC in ideas but different in implementation plus some unique things going to be implemented.

More details is described in the whitepaper which will be published soon.

Right now we are focused on the kernel of the project - compuation units aka octa-nodes.

As a backbone we use aeternity technologies but separate chain.

You can contribute to the project by installing the node and help us with testing.

The technical demo (phase 1) of the project has been released.
It's a PoC to show how it is possible to distribute the tasks among the nodes using Octa.Space infrastructure.
Three types of tasks were implemented for the testing purpose:

 * BW converter - convert your color images to black-white one
 * Neural Style   - generate images using NST algorithm
 * Mining            - Ethash mining

The testing period is 1 week, there are three nodes launched for this purpose: 2 CPU based, 1 NVIDIA based (1080TI)
Please also note that mining tasks are limited by 5 minutes execution.

Feedback, bugs and ideas about which tasks would be cool to implement are welcome.

After a long time during project was postponed we are happy to announce the new phase of development.
A lot of things were changed, a lot of they is reimplemented and now we have working system which able to solve real tasks and needs.

What is Octa.Space now? It's a platform to build a cloud based services like computing, data storages, VPN access points and so on.
Anyone is able to become a host by renting out their hardware: home PC, mining farm, VDS or VPS.
Users has possibility to use this resources according to their requirements (computations, vpn, ...) and pay for the usage.

At the moment we have two services implemented:

 * CPU/GPU rental service which may be used for the following tasks:

    * Maching learing using TensorFlow or PyTorch
    * 3D Rendering using Blender
    * Any other tasks which needs massive computation power

 * VPN service which provides access points around the world

For billing operations project uses Ethereum network and accept USDT for payments.
To reduce the operational costs dedicated PoA network is used.

Current roadmap:

 * Make system more stable, improve UI and API to be ready go to production
 * Implement distributed storage with S3 interface as a new service
 * Develop project's specific internal/public software to make ecosystem more usable
 * Release own crypto-currency to use it as alternative to USDT and which will be backed by Octa.Space

Now project is operate in beta mode and configured to use Ethereum testnet.
Anyone can setup own node to provide project more power or use existing one to test.
