The bullish sentiment is back and investors have started pouring money into their favorite blockchain projects. The question that most investors think is which currency will have the largest rate of return (profit)? Is Bitcoin - the largest capitalized cryptocurrency in the market, or smaller altcoins?

i will say go for top 5 altcoins because i don't think any one has such type of money to buy 100 btc rather than the cheaper alts like BNB which for sure have some potential. Market is showing positive trend i don't know what will happen next it is really a bull run or a bull trap but BNB is good for keeping it for sometime regardless of bull or bear market it has potential to give huge return in the bull run as well

I am sure that Bitcoin provides a very big profit, because when the price of altcoin increases very high then the price of Bitcoin must also increase very high, but if the price of Bitcoin rises very high then the price of altcoin may not increase very high (even the altcoin price sometimes goes down), therefore I am sure if the price of Bitcoin will provide a very big profit and make more money in 2020.

Some investors recommend to diversify your investment portfolio, some not. I prefer the first option because I reduce the potential risk when the chosen coins do not suceed. Now I believe kostky in BTC, ETH, ChainLink, ICON. This four coins solve almost every blockchain use case.   Cool

if more of the altcoin will increase its price well you will make more profit when you invest in altcoin. The only question is what kind of altcoin you want to invest and if this one will really follow what other crypto currency movement.
For smaller altcoin there are high investing since it will be depend on the investors if they will also addopt those currency.

If we are talking about history, there is no way you would not see Altcoin go for 50x or even 100x back then.
What does that mean? that means altcoin gives you more profit than Bitcoin but it has a higher risk compared to Bitcoin.
I can say this because I did it by myself, just in a single month I made around 200% of my capital investment, investing in the altcoin.
Are not we used to hear a higher risk equals a higher return?

For profit in 2020, Bitcoin is the choice. They are having a halving in may 2020 and everytime that happened, bitcoin's price had an impressive growth. And it could be a safe way to tap some profit in this year too. But if you are into long term profit and an overall development of crypto industry, altcoins are the option to go.

Alts gives you that opportunity to make more money than btc but just like what others have said, it is very risky with alts because we all know that many alts are not to be trusted, it is very easy to lose your investment in the process, especially when that project turned out to be shady or scam, or the team do an exit scam,
It is always safer to hold btc no matter how small it is, but if you feel that alts is very trusted, then alts will be a better choice to gain more profit especially during bull run.

You are asking a question which can't be answered by anyone. Huh

Because no one has power to predict the future.

But bitcoin block reward halving is going to be catalyst for bullish trend to begin so better choice will be bitcoin than any other coins.

We will see the exact answer to this together over time. But always altcoins with potential can offer greater chances of bullish. However, the risk is also higher at the same rate. The most important thing about this will be timing. Sleepless nights may be approaching.

Bitcoin still.

In the past, there were altcoins that pumped more than bitcoin does but it's not the same anymore. The market is unpredictable and bitcoin is more of a safer option than the rest. So, if you are okay with that and willing to take additional risk with altcoins, buy the known ones.

I am for both though.

When Bitcoin and altcoins are growing together, it depends on the trader/investor what he wants to choose. Every trader must have a different strategy, so we cannot state which one is the best. However, for me, the safest one is still Bitcoin. Moreover, it potentially raises the price significantly after the halving schedule.

I'm here for some time and there's no doubt to me

If you invest in BTC, you'll always gain money if the marketshare rises, but in a slow way

if you invest in altcoins, you have to guess which altcoin will give you more return because there are tons os alts in the market, and some alts won't rise as much as anothers, the market is more mature nowadays

I prefer to stay in BTC in my largest portion of portfolio and have some small percentage in the the biggest alts like ETH, XMR etc

The answer must be both as it's not the only bitcoin that was getting the bullish trend. It should not always be a small altcoin but you must need to put it into the whole altcoin. The small altcoin is not always become the main target for investors or buyers top make some money. They will always try to choose the medium coin of altcoin.
Bitcoin will always be the first choice and then altcoin will be following it after that. The portion of bitcoin will always more be compared with altcoin.
But altcoin brings more possibilities to give more return compared with bitcoin as it's still having small valuation compared with bitcoin.

Of course some shitcoins will outperform Bitcoin, but this fact is useless, because no one knows exactly which shitcoins would do so, and combined with another fact that the rest of shitcoins won't be doing so well - either they'll go down or just have underwhelming gains, it's objectively better to invest in Bitcoin which has higher returns and lower risks. Think about it, if Bitcoin goes down, shitcoins will go down even faster, it's always like that, but when Bitcoin goes up, it's not guaranteed that shitcoins will go up too.
