Bought 1180 bitcoins in 2011 for $2.87 each, now they are worth 18 mil+. I will pick 10 random people who retweet this and give one to each of you. Happy February! #Bitcoin #BTC #freebtc #bitcoingiveaway #XRP #LTC (DM your Bitcoin Address to enter) must own crypto to win!

The accompanying image

shows the wallet address 3BMEX9CJEp8CmS1oauX3D3Kv2Kd8sAXELk which had BTC 120 up until six months ago and is empty.  None of the deposit addresses has / had anything like the 1180 Bitcoins promised in the tweet.

If this person says they have paid out winnings, it would be worth noting where the funds came from and more importantly where they go.

The "must own crypto to win!" tells me that he will be asking all "winners" to send him some crypto first before they could claim their reward OR he will send a few then offers the winner a double your bitcoin scheme.

Looking at the account's post history, I think it's a stolen account. I don't see any crypto related posts prior to this giveaway tweet.

Yeh I did wonder about that - might be a way to gather intel on who has what at a given point in time - who knows?

It's been 22 hours so I guess we only have another ~26 hours to wait.

That 3BMEX address likely isn't his, or at least not one he controls the private keys to. Gambling platform bitmex.com has made it a habit of assigning their users vanity gen addresses starting with 1/3BMEX. Of course, he could also create a 3BMEX address for himself, but why would he.

So, it probably makes sense to also check the addresses which funded the 3BMEX address to get to his private wallet. Smiley

.edit: misread the OP, nevermind.

.edit2: there is only one address with an amount similar to the 1196 stated BTC: https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/36ULNbsgQvyS2xDQKPEEhWsBFzrjtrszn6 - and this address has nothing to do with his screenshot (it has only one transaction).
Not sure, though, if the list here is up to date.

...and wouldn't you know it - all the tweets have been deleted, but the user picked up quite a few followers.

No winners, no "I've been hacked" either.  Roll Eyes
