I still think I understood you right the first time. You mean we should switch to hobbies that don't have an element of gambling in them, right? The problem is that not all gamblers can stop gambling if they use gambling for fun to turn into an addiction. Many gamblers will still play gambling, although they know they slowly become addicted to gambling. That will grow bigger if they win for many rounds, and that can make their greed bigger too.

I don't think this is enough. A gambling addict cannot heal his/her addiction all by himself/herself. We are talking here of an addicted gambler. We are not talking here of a gambler who still has the control over things. I don't think by merely thinking of these points a gambling addict can leave his/her vice. Indeed, actually I knew someone here inthe nearby who is really addicted to cockfighting. I sometimes heard their quarrel with his wife about his addiction, he often promised that he will stop once and for all and yet he still continue lol. His addiction is worse up to extent that his budget for his family are now greatly reduced. Well, I heard that sometimes he won but in most cases he lost lol. This is definitely true. We all know that gambling is addictive so we should know how to take full control of it. It involves our funds and it could even ruin our lives if we'll never know how to handle things appropriately.
A friend of mine has lost all his assets including their family business because of gambling addiction. We should wait for that kind of scenario before we stop gambling.

And gangsters videos are probably where they mostly learn the habit from. I don't think this is totally the case though. I tend to believe that people who gamble regularly without being profitable are gambling addicts.  "Enjoying" gambling (without being profitable) can lead to addiction or can be considered an addiction. .

Reasoning about profit is quite controversial in this situation. Indeed, even if a person loses money, then in return he receives adrenaline and relaxation/stress relief. It is possible that this is an equivalent fair exchange (if we are talking about reasonable expenses).
