Well, epayments sent me an email yesterday telling me their service was suspended for AML reasons. Probably a brexit effect?

Anyway, what's the situation on the debit card world as of today? What are working ones?

I want to load BTC and spend EUR, with acceptable fees. I am not particularly interested in anonymity.

Wirex? Advcash? Others?

thanks

The latest centralized info I know is almost one year old https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DRbTeMCzb4UeXI0YlAzBxMc2u2i0cN_17Ql6eMngK6E/edit#gid=0
Wirex and Advcash do work. In some areas TenX too. Crypto.com (ex mona.co) and Coinbase card may be also working.

Edit: the fees are not nice though. You can read for example https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5215053.0

According to this article, epayments is only available for EEA residents, so it's worth adding that you can order TenX only if you're from the APAC region (Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Thailand) and the card is only available in USD. Same thing with Monaco, only available in U.S/Singapore.

@OP There are other cards like Paycent but the fees are not that attractive... You probably should go with either Coinbase (unless you're from Malta or Czech republic) or Wirexapp, they're the best options (for EU) right now.

Thanks a lot for valuable information. I think I'll go for Coinbase. I already have a verified account there. But I am afraid that brexit will affect their fiat services too. They sent me an email days ago saying they had to change banking partner... I hope I can still order it.

CoinDeal exchange just launched their own crypto debit card (they are giving away 50k of them - 49k left, you can clearly see that still, not many has interest in it and neither do i) and similiar to Coinbase one - it's also Visa. It's a nice exchange, they are from EU, i've been using it for couple months already. I follow their thread on the biggest polish crypto forum, where they've said that you can pay anywhere with this card, using paypass, having only crypto on your balance. Coinbase's fees are known to be high in general so maybe coindeal's card is cheaper.

I see they're just using these cards to prop up a shit token. That's not something i'd be interested in if i were to use it for various purchases. I'd want something that is regulated and trustworthy.

What if coindeal goes bankrupt or their provider does? Are they collateralized?
In case of insolvency- do they have a structure where customer's funds are guaranteed? Coinbase and Wirex both have this.

They've already given away 45 millions of these tokens to their users, giving away some more won't make a difference. Maybe coinbase and wirex are better options, but I don't trust any exchange, especially when they use the magic word "guaranteed". Op asked for alternatives and this is one.

I see where you're coming from. I'm just saying that Wirex and Coinbase have legal barriers in place from preventing their creditors to access customer balances in case of insolvency. I'm just wondering if that is also the case for CoinDeal, - if not - i'd be wary of using them.

I forgot the name of the company, but there was a KYC-free company that also gave out VISA cards, and when the card provider, (or vice versa, i don't remember exactly) went bust, - a lot of other smaller companies relying on them (the card provider) held users funds/ stopped operating.

I am currently using VISA Bitcoin debit card from Coinbase. I need it exactly for same thing as you, so topping up in a cryptocurrency (here all wallets available on Coinbase) and paying in EUR.
Which crypto you want to pay for, is selected very easy through the application on your mobile phone (the change is immediate).
I paid 5 EUR for the card and it came within a few days.
Every Coinbase user must be verified, so there is no anonymity.
When it comes to fees, unfortunately I didn't compare with other cards, but as far as I know Coinbase is not the cheapest, but in my opinion it is the safest and the most userfriendly. Here you can check fees:

https://help.coinbase.com/en/coinbase/trading-and-funding/other/coinbase-card-faq.html

Check if the card can be delivered to your country here:

I have nothing great to contribute to this thread, as I've never used a bitcoin debit card and don't care to--however, I recall DaveF mentioning that he often uses one and I think he said it's through Xapo (yeah, remember them?).  I also seem to remember him saying it's only available in the US, but I don't know the details.

This thread is interesting reading for me anyway because of things like this:
I am currently using VISA Bitcoin debit card from Coinbase.

I think it's great that Coinbase has something like that, because they're probably the most popular exchange for the average person just getting into bitcoin and looking to buy some through a good exchange.  And the reason I think it's good is that it makes it so much easier for bitcoin newbies to spend their coins if they want to, which might well increase adoption in the long run.  Anyway, much like bitcoin ATMs which I don't seem to ever use, I hope to see more btc debit cards in the future.  Cool stuff.

The recent situation with FCA is not clear and one of the CEOs has resigned from the position. All these updates are not good and hope everyone will get his money back soon.

I strongly advise using the Crypterium card after the Epayments collapse. There is around 2% loading fee and the limits are higher than average crypto debit cards. After 5 months, the team decided to open the new orders and the users on the waiting list have been able to order both plastic and virtual cards. Only express shipping is available and the card+shipping costs around $50. Honestly, Cryptierum is better than Paycent in all means.

P.S: I don't have any connection, affiliate with services listed above and all given information indicates my personal opinion.

Wirex is the best

Wirex card loading fee is around 1% IIRC and their service is limited to EEA countries plus some Asian countries but there are better alternatives as always.

I don't have experience with BitPay, but as far as I know it is only available for people living in the United States. Winstar78 wrote that he needs a payment card in Euro, so I'm afraid that this is not the solution he is looking for.

Had Xapo, had Coinbase both gone now. Now just BitPay (US only IIRC)
Somebody else just partnered with Metropolitan Commercial Bank, don't remember who, about starting another BTC card.
I'll see if I can dig up the post.

-Dave

I don't have experience with BitPay, but as far as I know it is only available for people living in the United States. Winstar78 wrote that he needs a payment card in Euro, so I'm afraid that this is not the solution he is looking for.

Crypterium is the answer if we filter the all possible BTC debit cards. Even if you want to withdraw BTC as fiat, only Mastercard and Crypterium Mastercard moneysend feature is enough for this. The app works in one currency: EUR.

Mobile pay will replace plastic cards.

QR scanners are very sensitive, I can flash my phone 1 meter away and it can read it.

Takes 1 second.

Mobile pay will replace plastic cards.

But not many merchants show QR code and instead ask for debit/credit card details. For international payments, I think it's still a long way to go. Even virtual cards are hard to find right now unless you live in the EU or the US.

Crypterium is the answer if we filter the all possible BTC debit cards. Even if you want to withdraw BTC as fiat, only Mastercard and Crypterium Mastercard moneysend feature is enough for this. The app works in one currency: EUR.

Crypterium uses Unionpay aren't they? Is Mastercard & Unionpay related? I don't think they are the same company. Still, I might check this out because it seems that UnionPay is also popular in my country.

I compiled a list in the French forum here 1 or 2 weeks ago with the current debut cards working
90% of the time, only European citizens can apply to get one (Great Europe Grin) The old time with Wavecrest card without KYC is finish :p However there is 1 service on the list that requires only an SMS.
I heard crypto.com started to ship the card in Singapore and the USA, and Europe is the next.

No they aren't related. UnionPay is like the popular version of Visa/Mastercard. The card also work in other countries but it can be hard to use. For example in my country not all banks accept these cards, so you may not find an ATM to use it.

Yeah just did some research yesterday. It's not as popular as I thought it would be, so I guess not exactly a good choice for me. I could use it when I'm travelling to big cities, but that's still not good enough. Mastercard or Visa is still preferable.
