Best mid-range GPU for mining?

I've been off the mining topic for a while, what GPU nowadays would yeld better profits, Vega 56, RX 5600 XT or GTX RTX 2060? And on what algo?

Mid-range I would say RX 470/480/570/580 8GB for $100 second hand on Criagslist. If ETH keeps pumping you better buy those GPUs fast before the miners stop selling them and start mining with them again.

From what I can tell the most profitable coin right now is ETH as it has been since Q1 2018. Coins like XMR are more CPU based and the rest all got ASICs running on their networks. Not too much you can mine with GPUs anymore these days.

I have the same opinion as adaseb, I consider mid range GPUs like 470/480 or 570/580, and if you buy used you can find good prices, even in different countries than US because it's very popular, not only by miners but for gamers too

Vega 56, 5600xt and 2060 are more expensive cards and we are at a medium term of mining, the profits are making sense to people who have cheap electricity rates, but it's not worth to invest heavy yet

The most important thing to consider before picking up a GPU is to look at the Algorithm you are going to mine. For example, for Cryptonight-GPU(RYO) RX 5600 XT would be a good choice as compared to other algorithms because it is a core dependent mining algorithm and it is perfectly good for CN-GPU. So, if you thinking about mining Cryptonight coins such as RYO then I think RX 5600XT would be a good choice.

Vega 56 and RX 5600XT would be good, but if you are going to mine Cryptonight coins. And also don't forget to check the best miner like xmr-stak which can increase hashrate and make it stable.

Whichever card you choose to get, make sure its 8GB or if there is some Nvidia model you want, it might have an 6GB option. Don't buy any 4GB or less video card. You might be surprised to find Craiglist or Kijiji loaded with RX 580 4GB even in a profitable mining time and the reason why is because they are running out of DAG space to mine ETH.

The DAG is only important to mine ETH and not other coins like XMR but keep in mind most of the time, ETH or ETC will be the most profitable coin to mine. So its should be of priority to get a 8GB model. The 4GB might work now but in a few months you will run into issues. You will need to download Windows to version 7 or switch to a linux OS. However eventually one day, no matter, what you do, the DAG won't fit and they will be useless for ETH mining.

Does someone currently mine with RX 470-570? I was curious, how my ASUS RX 470 4GB is doing at mining Ether (Phoenix miner). I strapped my VRAM, i OCd memory to 1850MHz (Elpida) at 900mV. And i can't get stable speeds. Range is between 12-28MH/s. I was trying different settings and BIOS versions, the behaviour is similar, sometimes it's stuck at 19MH/s for 30 minutes then it goes 27MH/s for 5 minutes and then it goes 18MH/s for another 50 minutes and then it goes for 24MH/s for 10 minutes, and so on. I'm on the newest drivers. Is it normal? Maybe it's because 4GB of VRAM is not enough to achieve stable full speed? Or is it drivers fault?

Before buying any GPU first you need to about the algorithm which you are going to mine, then you can check profitability on what to mine.

I'm out of mining since I have a n expensive price of electricity, but I used to mine for some years
With 470 and 570 I used to achieve 27 or 28 Mhs so I'll give some ideas and as always in tech, you'll have to try until find the problem

Samsung are the best memories, so if you see some guys saying you can achieve high hashrate on 470 and 570, it's probably Samsung memories

You can have unstable overclock, put your card in stock and look the behavior, is it wrong? Maybe your card have some problem and need RMA, but if not, your problem could be the OC, most of cases are

You can have a defective Riser (sometimes a bad riser can cause some strange effects)

Check if your power supply is enough to keep your machine working, with a bad PSU you can have similar problems

I can exclude all the problems above. I'm not using a riser, my PSU is fine.
Right now i'm having over 27MH/s in the benchmark (nicehash) but when mining it goes down to 24MH/s. Sometimes it goes for 27MH/s for a while but then drops again for a long time.
I think it's the problem with DAG file size or i have some kind of virus in my PC, because i don't see any other sensible explaination.
In 2018 i was mining with GTX 1070's so i have some experience. But i never had Radeon GPU mining, so i really need someone who is currently mining with RX 470-580.

Yeah, it's the GPU memory issue, Windows 10 reserves about 0,5-0,6GB of VRAM, and Ethereum DAG file takes over 3,5GB so my 4GB GPU is getting out of VRAM, in this situation, miner is starting to slow down because the memory speed is also slowing down, due to slower system RAM is being used as a additional VRAM for GPU.

These GPUs you mentioned aren't mid range, they are the latest graphic cards in the market right now, with their latest architect that makes them to consume lower electricity makes them better choice for mining, the AMD variants are good for XMR (Monero), I'm not that good with Nvidia Variants

I think that the 5500 XT or 5600 XT is the gold standard based on mining power and price.However I would suggest used Rx Vegas as another best alternative.Make sure to buy cards with Gddr6 memory and at least 6Gb in size although 8Gb is the safe option.Try to find deals in the forum here,in Ebay,Amazon or Craiglist.

Is their a progpow miner for the rx 5000 series?  I have a lot of RX 5700s and love them but if they are going top continue to be profitable we need a progpow miner.
