Disclaimer: This list is just a brief summary that should help you to get an overview of the various blockchain explorers around. However, this in no way replaces your own research. It is also not possible to guarantee that the given information is up to date. In addition to that, I have no connections to the mentioned blockchain explorers below.

Blockchain Explorer (BTC, ETH, XRP etc.): 02/2020

Q: What is a Blockchain Explorer? A brief explanation:

Block explorer is a website or a tool that allows one to browse through blocks, view wallet addresses, network hashrate, transaction data and other key information on the blockchain. Block Explorer is simply a search tool. Just like how you use web browsers to browse through the Internet; block explorers allows one to browse the blockchain. They are search engines made specifically to search the blocks of a blockchain. Each and every cryptocurrency that relies on its own blockchain will also have its own block explorer. So you must use block explorers specific to that cryptocurrency. For example using Bitcoin block explorer, you’ll not be able explore the chain of Ethereum or Litecoin. For Ethereum you’ll need a Ethereum block explorer and for Litecoin you have to use Litecoin explorer.

Source: https://coinguides.org/block-explorer/ (For a far more detailed explation don't only refer to the quote, please also check the whole article! Its worth reading, especially for newcomers!)

Q: I have another Coin / Blockchain Explorer, which I use on a regular basis. How can I add it?

A: That's awesome, thanks for your help. Just post it here and I will add it to the list as soon as I got time.

Remember: The following list only shows an overview and does not rate the named blockchain explorers below!

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

I know you say the list isn't in any particular order, but it is absolutely right to put blockchair.com at the top since it is easily one of the best block explorers, and to put Roger Ver's scam site bitcoin.com at the bottom (although I would be tempted to remove any mention of that site altogether, since its prime function is to trick beginners and newbies in to buying a trash altcoin masquerading as BTC).

The other metric I would be tempted to include on your list is whether or not they show fees per virtual byte, rather than just per byte. Some explorers such as blockchain.com still only show fees per byte, which since the implementation of SegWit, is both outdated and inaccurate, and can lead to people overpaying in fees because they think their transaction is larger than it actually is. Fee per virtual byte (sometimes vbyte, VB, kVB) is a much better metric to use.

I agree with o_e_l_e_o
Some block explorers doesn't even support segwit yet, and you can properly see transactions of native segwit addresses ...

Blockchain.com can't even show native segwit addresses yet. (It shows the address but not clickable,  at least last time I checked)

They do actually. It has been the case for a couple of months now: https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/bc1qwqdg6squsna38e46795at95yu9atm8azzmyvckulcc7kytlcckxswvvzej

@OP There is no point in listing Trezor, it's just a fork from BitPay's block explorer (Insight).

@OP There is no point in listing Trezor, it's just a fork from BitPay's block explorer (Insight).

Thanks for the information, I will edit the thread and remove the Trezor Block explorer.

Fee per virtual byte (sometimes vbyte, VB, kVB) is a much better metric to use.

Thanks for the input. You're right let's remove bitcoin.com. I thought about not to mention it at all when I created the list, but after all I added the link for completeness.

The fee topic you mentioned sounds very useful. Let me do some research and I will add it to the list at a later stage.

Blockchair.com also supports exploring in the cardano blockchain. It seems to be one of the reasons why it's indeed the best blockchain explorer around.
https://www.etherchain.org is also another explorer missing in the Ethereum blockchain explorer list. It has been there since the existence of Ethereum network  Wink

Great list about blockexplorers, especially for known Altcoins. Honestly, I've never used other ones besides BTC and ETH (including ERC20 tokens). I've considered to buy some Waves in early 2019 but I didn't do that finally (guess I was lucky ^^), so maybe you can also list Waves, this Altcoin has some more recognition although I wouldn't recommend to buy it.

Waves (WAVES):

Code:
[size=12pt][b]Waves (WAVES):[/b][/size]

[list]
[li][b]Name:[/b] [url=https://wavesexplorer.com/]Wavesexplorer.com[/url][/li]
[li][b]Name:[/b] [url=https://wavesdesk.com/]Wavesdesk.com[/url][/li]
[li][b]Name:[/b] [url=https://wavesgo.com/]Wavesgo.com[/url][/li]
[/list]

And there's also a nice tool on Coinmarketcap, where you can check famous blockexplorers for each Coin when you move your mouse across "Explorer...":

Blockchair is excellent, automatically detects blockchain for entered address unlike others, and has some other nifty information.

I don't have interests in your list of exlorers. The main reason is your list mostly present block explorers links and very limited additional technical information.

I know 3 topics which have good information for you.
List of useful Bitcoin block explorers
(Compilation) What is the best Ethereum explorer? (already 19 reviews!!!)
Aleth.io - make Ethereum data work for you, best analytics & visualization.

If you simply collect and present list of explorers with less information about them, your list is mostly the same as of what are given by coinmarketcap.com

Thanks, Etherchain.org will be added!

Thanks for your kind words. I will add Waves, thanks for putting it in the correct format. I really helps!  Smiley. I will also add a section explaining how to use blockchain explorer search on CMC.

You can add the following to the list:

Ethereum
https://www.etherchain.org/
https://enjinx.io/eth/transactions
https://blockscout.com/eth/mainnet/

Ethereum Classic
https://etcblockexplorer.com/home

Blockcypher also covers LTC, DOGE, DASH, and GRIN blockchains.

I will add those too, thanks!

snip

Thanks for your feedback. I think you got the purpose of my thread wrong. My intention was to keep the list as simple as possible, so every newcomer here in the forum understands the topic at first glance. In addition to that not everybody knows, how to use the blockchain explorer search on CMC. If you are not interested in this (simple) list, because you are a well educated Senior Member of the forum, no one forces you to post in this thread. But on the other hand that does'nt mean that this list can't help newcomers, which are new to the whole field of cryptocurrencies. Thanks for sharing those additional links, I will add a link list to the thread.

I don't say anything negatively about your topic and I don't attack you, bro. What I said is your topic should be improved with some very basic details, technically for each explorer. If you have a list of explorers (many) you should add PROs and CONS of each explorer, that is what I adviced and gave you 3 topics about that.

Your list will be expanded over time, I guess so what you are going to do with 100 coins here. 1000 block explorers' links, and no more details.

If I was you, I would have created a topic on steps to do to find out block explorers of coins from coinmarketcap.com. It would be more useful for crypto newbies than what you did.

From your post, it is not what you are going to so good luck to you.

If someone looking for any particular coins explorer they can check in Coinmarkrt.com because most coins explorer has mentioned there. I always prefer to check explorers there.

Coinmarketcap.com, did you actually emphasize about it? Did you make a typo with the site's domain address?

If it is what you did, please correct it (edit your post with correct domain address). There are phishing sites so the given address should be correct.

I created the trial table for OP. If you like it, let's use the format and edit OP. If not, please ignore my given table.

Thanks for the table, looks good! I will add it when I have more time to rework the thread.

Edit: Added the table and some other stuff. Will rework the notes section when I have more time.

Thanks for all the input. This is amazing! Thanks a lot. I am currently figuring out, how to add it to my list. There will be an update in a few days. I am a little busy with work currently, so I don't have too much time to edit the thread.
