It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

With CPU you can mine monero, but if you want to get some extra hashrate then try out mining with RagerX. The mining monero with this platform has many benefits such as built-in features, which makes it easy to use. 10% extra hashrate as compare to other mining platforms.
Give it a try.

CPUMiners Club has a list of CPU Only coins, might be a little outdated now:

List: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pkp8tfUK70Fs-HsdKL9PJpEcpcYhnMO0cKylyV8QVt0/edit?usp=sharing

The Discord I believe has a more updated list (a channel for each coin)

For CPU mining I think monero will be a good choice but for extra hashrate try out mining with fastest monero mining platform RagerX, which is also easy to use due to its built-in features.
