Why do you think it is a currency? They only integrate payments into their apps, and they use the entire currency present in the world to pay depending on the location of each country. You seem to have confused the currency and payment applications.

Mate, there are speculations that Google is a step ahead to enter crypto currency, however is no confirmed news on this. Crypto is a billion dollar market where already a lot of big companies have jumped on this. And yes if Google step in to crypto I am sure it can be one of the top coin to focus on investment due to its popularity in the entire world it can easily gain public trust which will boost them to rock in crypto market.

I do not think that google will jump into the crypto market space as they very well know the regulatory pressure Facebook is getting when they planned to enter the market and as long as the regulators are giving them a hard time to come up with their private currency they will not spend their time on on.
Even if a private company comes up with a centralized coin, i will avoid them as i do not want them to have my records registered and have a control over my finance.

Facebook is a pretty famous to the people too but they didn't even leave a great impression on crypto.
People on crypto wants privacy that is why we choose Bitcoin,

There's a huge difference between supporting Google for what it does and supporting Google and what it provides. While we may be consuming a lot of their services, devices and applications, that doesn't necessarily mean that we will support them in everything that they do. Mind you, they collect data like crazy even in your sleep, or even when just trying to browse something on their search engine, you're automatically subject to Google's data snooping.

For cryptocurrency, before they could lay the red carpet for such, a lot of oppositions would arise, especially from the ranks of the US and the EU governments. Not that I'm saying that it's impossible, it's just that it will be hard for them to launch one without having to explain why they do such. Not to mention that even if it gets launched, the coin would be centralized, so there's no way it would get a ton of support from a community that has seen the wonders of decentralization.

Google having its own cryptocurrency is inconsequential because they have different protocols and that of Bitcoin protocols are far better than them own. Google has their gateway payment method which they use google pay and can't be compare to bitcoin. Libra coins was speculated to have more chances to defeat Bitcoin, what has happened so far with Libra?  Bitcoin is the beast that can consume any other shitcoins.

First Google Currency which came in my mind is google's own google play credits. But if we talk about a "real" Google Cryptocurrency then I would say that it could end up like Libra. Bad reputation, Governments getting mad etc. Google will probably wait until the Libra topic is sort out and see what happens with it.

Yeah, but it's more convenient, right? In the end, that is what matters for 99% of the population, and 99% of the population has also 99% of the money!

Not to mention that even if it gets launched, the coin would be centralized, so there's no way it would get a ton of support from a community that has seen the wonders of decentralization.

Low fees for everything including merchants and the "community" will forget everything and go with it.
Don't underestimate what choices people will make when the financial aspect comes into play.

Just imagine what an official "airdrop" announcement for a few free goobucks  would do!

google will never touch that area i think about this decade, since it will get attention like LIBRA which brought by Facebook but get stalled since US as nation asking what purpose they have when building this project. Such a thing can happen too with google if they tried to build the same project. That's why my guess they didn't take this cryptocurrency as their next roadmap as far as i see at this decade.

Agreed. Bitcoin offers decentralization and pseudo-anonymity which 'crypto' projects like Libra cannot offer. The question is, do people really care about privacy and stuff? Would the majority actually value it over the stability of such solid companies like Facebook or Google can offer? I don't think they will. However, perhaps these people won't use these such coins either. Being Google does not guarantee to be successful at everything. They've failed in making a social network (maybe you remember Google account circles lol) and an OS, so they might fail with offering a centralized digital cryptographic currency as well.

I think some people that are mentioning G–Pay are wrong. G Pay is not a wallet like PayPal, I think it’s kind of a payment gateway that is used in managing funds transfer. When you create your G pay account you will have to link your cards, the money is not saved in your G Pay but remains in your bank account.

When you want to make payment the money is debited from your bank account through the debit card you have linked and sent to the receiver, unlike PayPal that is a wallet and the money is stored in your wallet and also debited directly from there. So there’s a difference. And nobody knows whether they are interested in creating a cryptocurrency or not, Facebook tried and it wasn’t a success.

Well as you said that it was only your opinion. but I'm sure if that were realized and google will enter into the cryptocurrency industry it will be considered as a major Bitcoin competitor the same as other Altcoins too, but in terms of who will be the best, I think that title would remain to Bitcoin because it was the pioneering cryptocurrency thats why it has huge user base compare to others thats what I think.

We still have to see how Facebook coin performs in the market, because beFore Google launches it's own Cryptocurrency it will have to deal with regulation first and if they will be allow by SEC first before they can launch their own, they will also subjected to senate inquiry and have to convince these lawmakers to allow them to launch

Indeed and bitcoin have already establish its trust with people and we have seen the nature and patterns of bitcoin so it pretty sure if google will create its own cryptocurrency it would not beat bitcoin, just because a crypto was made by a major tech company doesn't mean it will be greater than the ones we already have. Cryptocurrency is different from the other field so if you are strong in one side may not be strong on the other and will need time to be trusted just like how bitcoin have experienced since it was created.

Yes and they also have to follow the rules being the biggest company on the planet and making their own crypto would probably be the last thought in their mind and talking of taking over bitcoins, no crypto would ever be able to take over bitcoins as long as bitcoin is there because these alts are known bywhats their value in bitcoins. As strong is USD in terms of currency similarly is bitcoins in the cryto market and there seems no one who can move bitcoins.

IMO does not, because what I observed is that Google is very compliant with the regulations of a country in the world and also the Google company maintains user convenience with the foundation of a regulation. if indeed Google will make its own currency, it might make a centralized currency and of course it is no different from a central bank, paypal, or the like. it's true that google marketing it is very easy, because it's already known in all corners of the world and will there be support by people around the world?
I think "decentralization" will remain the strongest.
