I had no idea about this page or any of these gangs hahahahhaa. This gave me such a great laugh this evening. I guess if I was in any gang I would most definitely be in or associate myself within the collective of the collectibles section   Having spent most of my time on this forum hovering that area and also making some great friends through that channel I would say its also one of the main reasons I even have an account here in the first place.

I would pay 10,000 BTC for a Pizza replacing Laszlo, if only I had enough Bitcoin to pay 10,000 BTC for a Pizza.
Laszlo is a true hero, and If I had more than 10,000 BTC I would spend those to help the spread of Bitcoin.

I like things like onions, peppers, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, pepperoni, etc.. just standard stuff no weird fish topping or anything like that.  I also like regular cheese pizzas which may be cheaper to prepare or otherwise acquire.

I decided to start this topic - Gangs of New York BitcoinTalk - as a reaction towards the funny idea that the forum is full of gangs. I will update it in the future, hopefully with the help from the other members. Thank you xtraelv for inspiring me with this topic after seeing your threads about the forum history!

Please treat this topic as a pamphlet.

Of course that guy paid 10k Bitcoin for pizzas but at that time a very few people had the mindset that in future Bitcoin can reach $67k in value and if he was among those people then he would never do that. The guy would be a multi-millionaire or a billionaire if he hadn't bought those two pizzas but even with billions no one would remember his name. However, those two pizzas that he bought with 10k Bitcoin made him famous and people will always remember his name when they will read the history of Bitcoin. He became a celebrity for many people just by purchasing pizzas.

He didn't buy a $10K Pizza. He bought a 40$ pizza (or actually a couple of pizza) with 10,K BTC.
The guy is still a millionaire, as he paid the back then, market price for bitcoin.
He also contributed to bitcoin benefit making them circulate.

Ops, sorry for my mistyping, I always use dollar sign during calculation that's why I used $ before 10k. I was referring to 10k Bitcoin not $10k Bitcoin, thanks for highlighting that I'll edit and fix the post. I won't say that the guy isn't a millionaire but he would not be remembered the way he's remember if he didn't bought those two pizzas for 10k Bitcoin. He's a true hero and I admire him for his contribution into Bitcoin and I believe that he's be remembered forever for those pizzas that he bought back then.

No it's not wrong to be overly bullish about Bitcoin. We love it and we believe that it will reach high values overtime and that believe is the most important thing we have. Bitcoin is bullish, it was bullish, and it will be bullish. Let's hope to see that as a part of reality in the coming two years.

While pondering your question, I can't actually think of another discussion forum I've been a part of that's had such an odd and arcane trust system as bitcointalk does, so I'll be damned if I can think of an answer.

But we both know how Theymos rolls.  It's not exactly like he acts like the forum is beneath him, but more as if he's above all the petty nonsense that goes on here, so he's not prone to engage in personal attacks (of which I've seen many through the years).  I guess you could call that thick skin but when you're the boss, criticism has a much different level of effect than it would if you were just a regular member.  People here with no power at all who let attacks slide off them as if they were nothing get more respect from me than someone who's essentially unaffected in any meaningful way by jabs, insults, trolling, etc.

It's less about him being thick-skinned and more about him hoping people will do the right thing and keep these insane wannabe extortionists out of the DT network.  Unfortunately, idiots like you care more about trying to punish honest people who hurt your feelings than actually building a reputable system.  So he has a negative trust rating until people like you grow a pair and start acting like men instead of cowardly little dishonorable weasels.  I am watching and wondering what will happen first, DT getting cleaned up or intervention happening.

This is how I see it... Theymos is cool -- way beyond what any self acclaimed thick-skinner would be... He's potentially driven by his own "rules" -- "that the forum must be as free as possible" That may not be the exact words he used to express it
