...It's been 2-3 months, I guess? Since the admin adjusted all of our allocations... Just been thinking as time goes by there are quite a number of people who keeps earning Merits Everyday / every week - it keeps on increasing IMO...

OR is it just me who have been using all of my sMerits...

I automatically adjusted all merit-source allocations. The average amount of merit you sent per month (including both source merit and personal sMerit) in the last 6 months was computed, and your new source allocation was set equal to 175% of this amount. However, if this would've caused you to have a source merit of less than 10, then you were removed as a merit source.

You have received a total of 806 merit. This is what determines your forum rank. You typically cannot lose this merit. You have 1 sendable merit (sMerit) which you can send to other people. There is no point in hoarding sMerit; keeping it yourself does not benefit you, and we reserve the right to decay unused sMerit in the future.

You are a merit source. The next 0 merit you spend will come from your source rather than your sMerit balance. Merit spent from your source will come back in 30 days. Unused source merit is wasted. It is not allowed for merit sources to sell their merit.

I believe there is a rationale behind the total number of sMerit allocation to the merit source economy. I doubt the total number of source merit allocation will change every six months, but maybe those who constantly do not use all their source merit would have a reduction, and those who are nearly always out of merit will get an increase.

I don't know the specific rationale behind the total amount of merit source merit, but my presumption is that variables such as traffic, traffic from probable new users, registrations, registrations from probably new users, posts, posts from probable new users, traffic and posts from probable users here for between a medium range timeframe (such as 3-6 months) (that would indicate they are a new user who will use the forum on a sustained basis.

So basically the problem is that you're running out of sMerits, right?  I think whether that happens to any given merit source depends on their merit-giving and what their individual allocation is per month.  I'm pretty sure there are some members who have extremely high allocations, because I've seen the numbers and there's no way they could have given out so many merits even if they earned a lot.  Not all merit source merit allocations are equal, that's what I'm blabbering about.

And my suggestion would be to request that Theymos up your monthly sMerit allocation, because I don't think other merit sources need the same increase.  I made a thread last year begging for more sMerits because I kept running out, and Theymos did increase what I get.

Anyway, props to you for running out of sMerits--that means you're probably doing a good job as a merit source.  I need to step it up myself.

Basically, Yes 😁... Am not a good earner so I might be lazy about this... and if somebody will tell me to be a good earner that's ridiculous, its not all the time users will agree to my posts and they'll give me some of their sMerits besides I'm just going with the flow even though I really wanted to get into the Legendary...

Back on November I really thought that my 181 sMerits will be enough for my Local but things has been changing ever since we got a Sauce. Am not that active anymore to other Sections ever since I became a Sauce for them, been watching all of them day by day...

As far as I know, sMerit for other members, on average if other members receive Merit 2 sMerit 1.

If I compare it with sMerit and Merit which is received and issued by TMAN a hundred times different from other members.

TMAN: received Merit from other members, in feb 58, and was issued in feb 276 sMerit, If distributed 58; 2 in general only: 29 sMerit in the can.

If I think for a moment it seems like I have to ask this to TMAN, how can this happen, is there a proposal that must be submitted to @theymos, to get like TMAN.

Yes, you might be able to ask something to TMAN, for that.
I think 1; 4.77 for you to share in your place (local), I think that's more than enough, in overcoming the empty sMerit, maybe.

Way: maybe a proposal, a group, a gang, or other things that can be submitted to Theymos, to help you overcome the blank sMerit in your local.

• Best solution: a list of good topics that need Merits and the best alternative account can be a source of merit to @theymos or members who get a lot of sMerits to give their opinions.

I wouldn't make this an automatic process every 6 months, as the only possible long-term outcome from it is centralization of the merit system. Sources who send a lot of merit will get more sMerits to send, and sources who have been lax for a few months will see their sMerits reduce and eventually disappear. Sources who lose a large part of their sMerit allocation will find it difficult to work back up again, and few new merit sources are being appointed. I agree that periodic readjustment is good, as is reviewing for new sources, but committing to the same change every x months is probably not the way to go.

I'd say: "Don't spend them all at once" If you spend your source Merits evenly during the first 30 days, they'll also replenish regularly, so it'll never take long to get a few new ones.

Easy: just give more per post, theymos prefers when Merit sources empty their source:

It's best if sources try to exhaust their source allocations, even if it means giving posts higher amounts than is typical.

I think the number of merit that is obtained by each MS will not affect the number of generation of sMerit for the source and sMerit obtained will remain by the formula 2:1

Sample case:
- If X as MS gets sMerit from Theymos 200 in one month and X gets 50 merit from other users, the number of sMerit that can be sent by X in that month is 225.
The calculation is:

- 25 sMerit self-generated
- 225 sMerit is the total that can be sent

The number of sMerit obtained by MS can increase or decrease depending on the number of sMerit sent in that month. So the point is not on the merit received, but the sMerit that is spent. Please correct me if its wrong.

Only theymos knows exactly the monthly allocation of sMerit for each merit source. It's very difficult to work out exactly just by observing sent merits since you don't know which merits sent were from source sMerits and which were from personal sMerits, and how much of a pool of personal sMerits the source in question has to dip in to. You can get a rough idea of who the biggest sources are by looking at this list: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=topsendat

Sort of correct. Source merit is replenished exactly 30 days after it is spent. If I had an allocation of 50 source merits, then I would be able to spend 50 source merits every month. If I spent them all one month, they would replenish and I would have 50 to spend next month. If I didn't spend any in one month, I'd still have 50 to spend next month. So the number of sMerit which replenishes is based upon how many you sent last month, but the amount you can award in a single month is always the same as your allocation.

To be honest, I didn't understand how we could calculate the amount of sMerit we get, I don't know if there's any rule there. I remember the time when the merit system was launched, then, every time I received 1 merit, I would have 1 sMerit (pretty sure about it, because when the merit system came into being, I was quite interested about my merit). But now it is calculated differently, the rate is now 2 merit for 1 sMerit   Maybe this rate depends on each user, right?
Anyway, I am still fine with the current merit system, although it is difficult for me to get some merit

That's incorrect. It has always been 1 sMerit per 2 earned merit, for all users. Here it is in the merit announcement post from theymos:

Additionally, when someone sends you merit points, half of those points can be sent by you to other people.

 1. Be a somewhat established member.
 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.

The craziest thing I get refill almost all the time, so whenever I run out of sMerit takes around 2-3 days and there I have again enough for a week. I doesn't really matter if I post " don't send merit " they keep sending, here a fresh example from today so I really gave up on that.

Now we have two persons asking for more merit,so it's time to release the Kraken unlock the thread, for a second round
