Gambling addiction is a mystery because you may not realize that you are getting addicted or even after severely got addicted.

Let us try to find how safely we have been into gambling so far.

Level 1 to level 3: (beginning levels)
1. New gambling ideas flashes in your mind even you are too busy with your studies or work or with friends/family.
2. Already lost in hundreds still you are strongly believing to recover them by innovating new strategy.
3. Made $50 then why not $100 or $500.

Level 4 to level 6: (intermediate levels)
4. Allocating 10% to 25% for your monthly gambling expenses from your regular income stream.
5. Forgetting your regular responsibilities and giving gambling the high priority.
6. Lost most of the friends as they are not supporting your view on gambling. You want to prove them how genius you are in gambling.

Level 7 to level 10: (severe levels)
7. Planning to be a full time gambler because your day job is not supporting you to live as you wish.
8. Facing problem of debits even you are into a highly paying day job.
9. Your spouse warn you about divorce or your family member discuss abut rehabilitation centers behind you.
10. You already became a Warren Buffet of gambling still not sure what is going on around you. You must need 50 hrs per day to fulfill your gambling needs.

Beginning level of gambling addiction do not need any treatment but taking break from gambling may cure you. If you are unable to take break then you are already into intermediate level ask help from friends to keep you busy.

Severely addicted category must need to visit doctors to change their life style. For this category gamblers, taking break from gambling temporarily solve addiction thirst but professional guidelines will help to recover completely. Rehabilitation centers will be the ultimate destination when everything else fail.

Find yourself where you are doing and get back to level zero.

Level 0:
Gamble while gamble and may forget it for months. Gamble only with friends and gambling is not an option to kill boredom.

i think this belongs to the first level of gambling  . im at the beining level of addiction . im always busy with my job online and being online i got distracted , i keep on opening a new tab to visit a gambling site . i lost but i dont give up  . i believe that sometimes i can won a decent amount and whenever i win something decent , i cant stop because i think i can earn more than that and i got fcked up eventually  . all of those levels needs an imediate treatment so that the problem wont worsen at the future

Level 0 and Level 1

Gambling isnt the only thing that do entertain me when im in boredom. There are lots of activities that i can choose from to enjoy myself without involving any money.
Also i do play on my vacant time and using up my excess money to play without compromising responsibilities in real life. Needs first before anything else because
i dont like to mess up life or making my own problems that will come out late on if i do prioritize gambling.

Was level 3, but now I'm back to 0.

Am one of the lucky gamblers who've ended the addiction on profit. I ended mine when I started thinking thoroughly the consequences addiction implies. I knew this would one day end in a big loss I couldn't recover from - only few are lucky enough to earn a fortune and not lose it.

My routine back when I was addicted was like: wake up - make coffee - play on PrimeDice - sleep - repeat. It was an endless cycle of me betting, but to be honest, the chat on there was very fun so were the tips and random rains.

I guess there were some that came up to the point of level 7 to 10 thinking to become a full time gambler because they were winning. I can say that I'm in Level 0 to Level 2.

I'm believing that I can recover my losses somehow by renovating strategies although I have an idea that it will be a difficult time for me. But, I can verify that I'm not totally addicted to it and still fine with my mental and emotional issues.

Nice topic, I'm somewhere between zero and one because I'm never going high level unless I seriously get a good streak or enjoy a particular game alot and even then I'm gambling profits hopefully not out on a limb and a prayer.

10. You already became a Warren Buffet of gambling

This sounds like a combo best summed up as 'completely delusional' because if you are Warren Buffet of gambling you should have it made and why the heck would a wife be mad at someone making bucks with a regular successful system of gambling.    If the cash flow is purely one way and you are obsessed with gambling and losing so much as well as ignoring the wife then yep this could be the final step to losing touch with reality Shocked

Actually, beginners to intermediate levels can still be avoided, only if the gambler themselves allows that to happen. That's why never blame gambling for this addiction but how the person is dealing with it.

Those on critical or severe level aren't only because of gambling why they turned out like that. They are having difficulty in the real world and facing personal problems that's why it contributes to their desire of doing gambling thinking it's the only way to solve those especially the financial part. They think they don't have other choices that's why even they don't want to gamble, they will deal with it.

6. Lost most of the friends as they are not supporting your view on gambling. You want to prove them how genius you are in gambling.
Do losing friends belong to the "intermediate" level? For me, it is not intermediate but belongs to "severe" level. It is a serious risk that may happen if we are not able to control ourselves. I assume, once you lose most of your friends, the "prove" will only be in vain. If you are really a genius, you won't be addicted to gambling, right?

There are many ways to divert boredom instead of doing gambling, but it's beyond control of a person who choose to stay on this entertainment. It's more fun and exciting because the use of monetary involvement, that's giving you the chance to win a lucky price. However that amount of money couldn't be an assurance for us to win exactly at 100%, since the probability was too little. Level of addiction can be assessed to 10% up to 200% level of an extreme habit.

I also do gambling for entertainment at times but focusing on it whenever we feel is bored would be a big risk. There are still lots of other things that we can do just to earn except for gambling. We must dig into something that could make us grow financially and not into something with no guarantee of winning. Gambling is a matter of luck so we shouldn't risk our funds without having an assurance of gaining someyhing in return.

It usually becomes very apparent even without any sort of 'level' system that you're addicted to gambling if you just take a minute to think about yourself and the past few months of gambling, and the amount of money you've spent on gambling and the effects that has had on your life. If gambling's affecting your life in any negative way, that's already reason enough to consider stopping or finding professional help as the OP said. A lot of people don't fit cleanly in any of these levels or might even be seeing some of the negative sides of gambling being below the first level of this scale.

It also depends how you look at gambling and to what level you consider it to be significantly affecting your life. I'd probably take a step back and reconsider gambling if I start excessively thinking about gambling during work or in my free time, even despite it being in the first level of this scale.

With all honesty, I'm level 0.

I sometimes gambe once and forget about it for a month. I have so many things to do that I'm never bored and have enough money to live by so I don't have to treat gambling like a way of making more money or anything like that.

I'd say that if a person thinks about gambling all day he's not lvl 1. You should think of something in between the current lvl 0 and lvl 1.

I am allocating maybe 10% to 20% from my income per month, but I did not fall any of the levels in the OP since I am not addicted in gambling anymore.
Based on my experience, when I am addicted in the past, I don't allocate any, I just gamble to win but I have no plan on stopping, that's why I get easily addicted.

A poll would also be helpful to get an easy picture from people who have addiction that will participate.

Props to you on making a nice scale Cheesy. It was simple but for me it already sums up every intensities of gambling addiction, good job. Anyway, going back to the topic, I think I only lie from Level 0 to 1 right now since I'm still busy due to my preparations for board exam. But given that I already finished this and find a decent job, it's weird that I can feel that I will suddenly jump into Level 4. Honestly, I think of someday that I will allocate few percent of my earnings just to try my luck on gambling Grin.

Most people don't notice they are addicted unfortunately.

It's the same with drugs and most other things too, they only notice when they realize what they have done to themselves/family/friends etc.

So this is my situation. I am addicted in the past and the reason that I am not that addicted now is because of my wife. I am gambling my money around $4 to $10, so I don't know where would I put that. Despite that, my wife usually warns me of leaving me if I continue losing money around $10-$50 since the value of the USD in our country is around 50 pesos. Maybe that will still fall at Level 1 to level 3 since most of them I can really relate.

I was on the level 1 to level 3 but I am glad I cut it out early and I am gambling now not because of addiction but because I just love to do it.
It's nice if we will be able to see that addiction early so it will not become a serious problem that would lead to self destruction in the future.

3. Made $50 then why not $100 or $500.

This is pretty like my mentality in the past.

Level 0: Gamble while gamble and may forget it for months. Gamble only with friends and gambling is not an option to kill boredom.
I am still on this stage (level 0) and it means not addicted to gambling. I can gamble whenever I want, and I can forget it for weeks because of busy with real-life activities. But I never think to gamble only for fun, I have a serious purpose/goal. I think it is the same with others, that I want to win the games (for money). But honestly, I don't depend on my friends to gamble because mostly I gamble alone.

Before I’m on a level 3 where I keep on playing after winning until I made a zero profit that day. Fortunately, because of my busy work and my growing family, I was able to go back to level 0 to the moment that I almost forgot how that game works. I’m not addicted anymore, for me if you find your purpose in life then for sure you will not waste more time in gambling because you want now to spend it on what matters.

Well I'd say that a lot of those descriptors are wildly inaccurate bro.

It's quite possible to plan to be a professional gambler, and even be a professional gambler and not be in debt.

Likewise, it's often possible to be warned about having a gambling issue, when actually you're a profitable player making an above-average income.

In any case, I'd say I'm a zero. I literally just play for fun whenever the mood strikes me.
