Wallet itself looks so cheap and funny, but original Trezor software is open source so anyone can use it.

I have been chatting with SatoshiLabs CTO about it a bit today. He said he saw these come around a little ways back and they were being actively sold. The first link you provided shows one turned on..not that bad looking. They are open source, but you sure as heck can’t just use the name and logo as well like this.

I am not sure in anything, and I would not use this funny wallet.
I just say that Trezor is open source, and they stated 'exact equivalent of trezor code'
They also added word MINI

That's a hell looking clone of trezor, funny but it could cost you  $ if you're one of their victim. Silly thing, that its called trezor "mini" while it looks larger than the original one.

I thought I had heard about this before, but I couldn't remember the source.  I seem to recall reading that the Trezor has been imitated before, or at least had the their hardware configuration copied in exact detail.  I've also heard that the KeepKey is essentially a copy of the Trezor One.

Regardless, a company that obviously attempts to mislead their customers by appropriating the name of another doesn't instill a lot of trust.

- Reduced size (no idea how much smaller it is, but it is minimal size)  
- Waterproof and dustproof (I guess you can swim with it and go to Sahara desert)
- Increased information security (You will never know exact location of developers, Estonia, Latvia or Russia... but somewhere in ex SSSR)
- Reduced cost (maybe... I don't know exact price)
- Wide choice of colors and materials (so I guess they can make it from cheap plastic or from gold if you want)

It looks like he thinks it's a scam.  So maybe it's not just a mere copy, there could be some malicious intent.  That wouldn't surprise me at all.

Couldn’t agree more. Let’s not forget how lazy and uneducated most people are. Hardware wallets are the next best thing for us, but they are the only thing “safe” for most.  China is likely already producing fakes/fakes to scam, as we speak.  It’s only a matter of time until a load of Trezor or ledger great looking knock offs make their way on to e(scam)bay.  Many would easily fall for it. So that’s why I can’t get behind this what so ever, despite open source code.

I have not heard back from SatoshiLabs CTO, but hope I do. Would like more content, which you’d think they should  be going out of their way to provide.

Anyone who is not intelligent enough to buy directly from a manufacturer or authorized reseller has nothing to look for in the world of cryptocurrency. Such people will mess up sooner or later, even if they have the original hardware wallet, because having something like that doesn't mean they're safe.

These devices in the pictures look like children's toys, and most know that Trezor does not have a model labeled Mini. I wouldn't worry too much about this, because the Russians, and especially the Chinese, copy whatever comes in handy.

I would worry more about identical copies, which at first glance are hardly different from the original.

This is actually very troublesome. The two pictures look almost alike. The only two differences are the holograms and the bar-code stickers.
I am surprised that Trezor still uses the holograms. I think Ledger stopped using them because they offer no extra protection and can easily be faked, plus it is hard to know the difference.

One can always look at the digits on the barcode and remember a few things.

If the numbers on the right are genuine the digits "7 10882" show the origin (country) of the product and company name. Therefore, all Trezor devices must have those same numbers on all packaging. The next 5 numbers will be different since they denote a specific product. In this case "35061" is a Trezor One and all Trezor One devices should have those same digits. Trezor T would have a different sequence for example.
The last number is the checksum.

Pmalek, article I posted is from late 2018, and I don't know what kind of packaging Trezor is using these days. Also one important difference is that the fake device is labeled "Made in China", and as far as I know, the Trezor is produced in Czech Republic EU.

I wouldn't cover the modified hardware wallet. Their headquarters is in Talin, Estonia, and their production is in Saint-Petersburg, Russia.

Damn, those are pretty close indeed.

I wonder how many people have actually been scammed by these though? Surely the Trezor Bridge software would detect a fake wallet, or do they use some other wallet client? That should be an immediate red flag for anybody.
