Don't just hold your altcoins for a long time!

I think investors should take care about those things because the coins swap is regularly happening in crypto market because of changing their blockchain platforms or launching own blockchin. So if we are a investors then we have to check the details about the coins status and prices daily or weekly base otherwise we will lose our funds if anything happens like that. So we have to take care those things.

Losing our valued tokens that we have been working for a long time is very much possible if we fail to make updates from them. As an investor, we have to keep track the details every now and then of all the tokens that we are keeping in our wallets. It's good to hold potential tokens but we should not let them just sleep in our wallets for a long time without any updates from them because if we do, we might wake up in the morning seeing all of them turns into zero value.

You are so right . One of the reason why these new coins is very dangerous is because of these swaps that just comes at will. If you are really following them, you won't know what's going on. It's always good to trade your coins and in case you invest what you can't afford to lose , make sure you give it the time needed so will be able to know the next move on any coin you are holding.

Don't hold some good but random altcoins for a long time. If you still want to hold then don't leave their telegram group or other social accounts, check updates on a regular basis. Because if you just hold and keep it in a wallet for 2 years then who knows after 2 years your coin's value may turn into zero value, because of the swap!

Recently Insolar is swapping their token, I did not know about it, because I have been holding for two years but did not care enough as the price was very low! Today I was checking the Coinmarketap android app and saw Insolar coin increased by 530% but their ticker is XNS when I knew it was INS! So, I joined their telegram and get the updates about the swap! Unfortunately, If I fail to swap on time then all of the value of my holding coins will be zero! So, except Bitcoin, Ethereum, don't trust any coin for just buy and hold for a long time, rather keep updating yourself!

If you are telling for random altcoins than I will support. Another main reason is project roadmap before buy any coin. All token hasn't future plans to swap own coin, so by whitepaper you can confirm it before buy token for long time. Even I don't want to gathering to seap for few tokens that I got in bounty rewards.

Same here. I lost many coins because of these swap thing. Naturally I don't  like to swap any coin basically because of the procedures involved in it.

The only coin am happy holding today is Atomic Wallet Coin (AWC). Even despite swapping to Bep2, the Erc20 AWC is still much valuable as holders of it can still trade on exchange or swap for AWC Bep2.

This is a lesson that I learnt at least two years ago. 99% of the altcoins are hopeless, as they don't have any real life usage. Holding them for long-term is not recommended. You will get a fair idea if you follow the development news. If the project is going to fail, then you will get enough hints in the first six months. And that is the time when you should make your exit.

I have learned my lessons the hard way. When I was new here I have earned and invested in some promising project (which I think will have a long term potential). And ended up losing thier value down to even multiple folds compared to their ICO price as time goes by. Take note that wise investors come and go, and jumps from project to project to earn.

We are heading the bearish trend caused by covid19. The world is in the urgency about the spread from covid19. That doesn't matter what kind of altcoin that you are holding it right now as long as it's a popular coin and it has big liquidity

For shitcoin, we should always not hold them except for high alts, I will say we should always hold them as long as we will. a powerful project like ETH will provide massive profit for future holding. you'll be able to hold a brand new project coin too however you must study that project that has enough potential to survive the market or not.

It's  always important to visit the ann thread of any coin that you are holding, like what happened to you regarding to the swap that took place
some of the project give specific time for every holders to exchange their tokens if you failed to do the task then those coins that you have will
be stuck forever inside your wallet,.

This is 100% correct. Keeping up to date with project developments and latest news. Swapping of tokens is the most dangerous thing for you if you don't know about it. Recently TEMCO, WITH projects also did swap their tokens and many users who were not connected with the Telegram group lost their investment.
Another threat is that the project may get closed at any point in time. Recent examples, CPT and blobflow.
So I believe we should convert our coins into BTC or ETH as soon as possible.

Keeping new altcoins are very tasking, you have to visit their channels everytime to stay updated and not miss any valuable information, you have to make that decision from the start before investing in new altcoins

ouch i feel you man  . the same thing are going to happen on one of my token before but before the swapping happen i luckily sold my token at  a decent price  although the price rise a little bit more but still fine because i dont invest a money on that token but i only got it on the airdrop that i join  . i also dont track thier progress and i dont think i have the time to check them because i was also busy but now i think this serves as a lesson to us if ever we obtain newer tokens and altcoins  just to be safe from probable swapping  .

Honestly it's wrong to buy altcoins and locked them away and never look back because many thing can happen in short period of time, unlike bitcoin and eth that one can hold without looking back new altcoins are different, from testnet to main net, from an algorithm to another algorithm, this happens alot, it's good to keep an eye on your coins

I agree with this thread, the market landscape is continuously changing in a year to year basis, thats why for me as a cautious believer, I don't recommend for holding any cryptocurrency for a long term purposed, I still remember what was happening during 2018 bearish market condition most of my altcoins was doom and almost half of my portfolio was wiped out. thats why now I'm very careful with all my actions when handling cryptocurrency to prevent those 2018 experiences happening again.

That's right, if you have a lot of different cryptocurrencies in your portfolio, then you should constantly check all the news and updates related to your cryptocurrencies, because you can skip the huge pump of any token or token swap.

Good morning. I am having pretty similar approach. Another aspect that makes sense from my point of view, how team delivers experience. So I always conduct own analysis, evaluating many factors etc. So just wonder whether you are just following any project with innovations.
