Testnet BTC for 1-2 Weeks

I just saw your post while searching like crazy for someone or some faucet to send me 50 BTC for some testing with a friend and mine project. I would send them back in around 10days after we finished.

Check out mocacinno's thread and contact him, he might be able to help you. 50 BTC is quite a lot, I am not sure if he can help you with such an amount but you will have to take it up with him.

He has 100+ tBTC in his wallet and lended 10 tBTC to a user some weeks ago. However, he asked for a $20 collateral to be hold by him while you do not give the tBTC back. For 50 tBTC, some equivalent should be asked, so be ready for that, OP.

There is no reason to need any specific amount of tBTC, other than a trivial amount. If you are conducting any kind of tests you can tweak the parameters in your program to handle 1/1000, or whatever ratio amount of tBTC as you would expect to handle when your program goes into production with real coin.

I am also opposed to using valuable collateral to ‘borrow’ tBTC because this implies it has some value and may lead to some people actually selling it or trading it for value.

OP there are many tBTC faucets that allow you to obtain trivial amounts of tBTC. Here is one you can claim from https://tbtc.mocacinno.com/

We all understand that. mocacinno already answered someone about this concern and I personally agree with him.

I know some have criticized me for asking collateral, but if i'd lend out tBTC to newbies without asking any collateral, i'd end up with an empty tBTC wallet and i could just shut down my faucet altogether. tBTC is worthless, but that doesn't mean it's free to mine, so if i loan out tBTC and you default, i need some real BTC to mine tBTC to replenish my faucet's wallet...

It's also a somewhat trivial programming change to mask the fact that the reference client is running on testenet. Probably other clients also can be changed somewhat easily not to show that it's on testnet.

But yeah for programming 10=1=.1=.01 should not matter how many coins you have.

And if you are any kind of non scammer you can just rent hashrate be it at nicehash / mining rig rentals / wherever and for a few bucks get them yourself.
If you have a real project it's just the cost of startup.

The OP kind of proves the point that I have been trying to make. A newbie coming in asking for a lot of testnet and never coming back.
Someone should make a generic post kind of saying that if you are newbie and want massive amounts of testnet coins provide a legitimate reason why you
1) Need them
2) Have this awesome project that you have does not even have the $50 of financing that it would take to mine some coins
3) Need more then .1 to do your testing
4) Cant use some other altcoin that is a BTC clone to do your testing
5) etc.

Exactly. For example there are many CPU-only mining coins (like CPUchain or other yespower-based coins), where you can use an average PC and get something around 50 coins per day.

there is no need to use an altcoin that may be different or even have serious bugs that could give you false sense of correctness after you performed your test. instead you can easily use regtest mode of bitcoin core to acquire any amount of bitcoins in as many number of blocks as you like and spend them.
100 blocks take about 1.5 seconds to be generated on regtest due to its low defined difficulty.

And your point too.
Which is why I said someone (or a group of us) should come together. Make a generic statement of why you are not getting 500 testnet coins and why you don't need them.
And when someone comes in and asks for them it's a copy-paste of the same statement. Eventually I would think people would get the message.
