As much as I liked and were used to seeing the previous username "The Pharmacist" in posts, after such a long time period you finally manage to change your username to the one you requested. Thus, congratulations on your achievement, I don't think many users have managed to switch their username. Personally, I like the twist in your name "Sceptical" instead of Skeptical and "Chymist" instead of Chemist.

Personally, I like the twist in your name "Sceptical" instead of Skeptical and "Chymist" instead of Chemist.

It's not a twist I came up with, but some very old spelling from a very old book by Robert Boyle. 

The name change request stems from very personal reasons which I won't get into here (or elsewhere).  And I've gotten quite a few PMs saying the new moniker looks strange after all this time.  I have to tell you all, I'm still getting used to it--but every time I see it these little bubbles of glee start being emitted from somewhere within me.   

It's called appreciation and respect.

Congratulations The Pharmacist the former and welcome The Sceptical Chemist. I would have to type the name for sometimes before my keyboard memory will have to save it. For getting your name changed after so many years of request shows that everything is possible in this forum, just at the appointed time.
Or when the right process is taken. Can you tell us if you used another strategy to convince theymos and other admins apart from opening thread and sending pms?

I am afraid to ask at this point. I think I have PMed theymos twice about it and called him out in public a few times to answer the questions. But I have something else in the works right now that should be interesting to read. I am hoping to wrap it up soon, and when theymos sees it, he might rethink my request on his own. Stay tuned...

I was even thinking of shortening the new name to The Chymist instead of twisting my tongue to pronounce The Sceptical Chymist as a full phrase. The Pharmacist name was simple to pronounce, but we will adapt to the new name soon. Congratulations The Sceptical Chymist.

I think a great number of users are going to alternate between TSC and The Chymist than going all full. Perhaps, a few of those who like being formalistic will type out The Sceptical Chymist. I know, expectedly, they're going to be more name change requests from other users in the future. If I may even ask, and this is directing it to the entire community; may be specifically to theymos, is there any standard rule for name change? I ask this because the two cases we've experienced here so far didn't have the same reason demanding name change.

This has been already answered in the previous posts of the thread.
No nobody can register with the username "The Pharmacist". Theymos has only changed the display name. The username hasn't been changed at all and it's still owned by "The Sceptical Chymist".

The Pharmacist has been asking our boss (theymos) to change his name to The Sceptical Chymist and today I discovered that the username has finally been changed. My brother from another country The Sceptical Chymist congratulations. I believed the additional merit allocation request also also granted. theymos thank you very much for granting him the request.

Congratulations to The Sceptical Chemist on the change of his username, I've also come across this recently with the thread from Coolcryptovator when he also requested for a change of name even though his own was changed base on the request that his username was abused by many and thereby change the alphabets from capital letters to small letters, as for me I'd liked both the former (The Pharmacist) and the new one (The Sceptical Chymist) because they both have a unique blend of beauty in pronunciation and meaning.

Nigerian Board is also on the request Queue...we also appeal to him for the creation of the board

I think it's all about time and chance with patience, i want to believe that Theymos has plans regarding this since he has approved some local threads to be pinned, I think its the first step to granting the local board requested and i believe that not only Nigeria is involved in this.

Congratulations to you The Sceptical Chemist, For finally having your request granted. When I first saw the name in a post that I was reading, it took me like some minutes to actually figure out that it was him, I guess you have some joy now having this name changed for you.
Though Could take us some time to actually master the new name.
