The system of merits of the forum, can not be compared with the likes received on social networks, when a user sends a merit to a publication, thread or comment, it means that their contribution has a value for the community.

This thread is to make a small tribute to the first person who sent you the first merit, he probably believed in your first intervention worthy of receiving merit.

If you do not know or do not remember, on the https://bpip.org/ page enter your username in the search box in the Merit Information section, click on "Earned" and you will see all your merit history received.

I don't remember who exactly gave me first merit and I'm a bit lazy to check. But I remember that I got after verifying someone's staked Bitcoin address with signed message.

Probably very few people can remember who rewarded them with the first merit, and I admit that I am not one of them, yet 2 years have passed since then. Looking at bpip my first merit is come from user AGD for this post.

It might be interesting to see who we sent our first merit, and in my case it is go to theymos for Merit & new rank requirements.

I remember very well poptok1, who gave me the fist merit for a answer of question regarding the merit system, but before that I sent my only airdropped sMerit to theymos, for the merit announcement. Damn, like it was yesterday.

Wow!  I haven't visited the bpip site in a long time, and I just had to check who sent me my first merit.  It was a member by the name of shesheboy, who wasn't exactly a fan of mine (and hasn't been active in a while):

that is a genius idea lauda. i see that is already happened to the pharmacist as he nows a member of chipmixer because darkstar gave him a permenent spot in order to avoid the competition and wont be biased to anyone else. i think darkstar did a good job there to help stop the evil of the pharmacist or maybe not? And maybe pharmacist will still continue his good deeds?

Very weird that he merited one of my posts, and I remember thinking it was weird at the time too.  Ah the good old days of the merit system, ya gotta love it.  Also what I remember from back then was that people were getting huge amounts of merits for their posts, even if those posts were just mediocre.  The system was brand new and a lot of people didn't realize how important and valuable merits would become, particularly to lower-ranked members.

It seems like now everyone doesnt have to bother searching for posts where their first merit gets. BPIP gives us the ease to find out with step: https://bpip.org/smerit.aspx?to=your username and you will see who sent the first merit to you and its at the end of the list.

I always remember my first Merit as being from Vod, but it came from OgNasty:

I do recall it quite clearly, although I have revised it a few times to prove a point (i.e. it took me over a month and a half to receive my first merit), so the memory is more vivid. As with @JSRAW, @Paxmao was person behind (no pun intended).

Oh my first Merit.. that was such a long time ago, I don't even remember how life was during that time.. good old times.. Haha just kidding, I am pretty new here in the forum and I got my first Merit on the 14th of January from 1miau. Thanks for that buddy  ! I really appreciate, you gave me a good start in the forum.

Well, I really can't remember who was the user that sent me the first merit but I was able to identify it using DdmrDdmr's Bitcointalk Merit Dashboard and find it was this user Continuous.

You can extract it via his dashboard > User Summary > search for your ID or name > then go to Received Merit TXs. You can find there the thread where you posted your reply as well as the user that give you your first merit. You can click the three lines there to put it in ascending or descending order so you can easily find it. Credits all to DdmrDdmr it is really a great tableau.

Can't quite remember who it was that sent me my very first merit, my guess would be either mprep, Vod or Ddmrddmr.

Edit: I just checked it out and I got my very first merit from Coolcryptovator for this reply, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5044840.msg46563286#msg46563286 about 18 months ago. Ddmrddmr didn't merit me until after like six other people had, I probably remember his cause he accompanied it with a couple of encouraging words for the newbie back then. I don't know why the other names I guessed came into my head.
