why? someone who understands the language has to find out.

You're right, merit is impossible to obtain if you're only using the forum the way you do and it's a good thing! If you're not able to earn a few merits, than, what are you doing here?

The account was NOT BANNED, it was locked by the previous owner using the link when changing the email address (so you can see for yourself why people that are selling/buying accounts cannot be trusted) and since you have no way of proving ownership, it will remain locked! Just create a new account and start fresh, the easy way is not always the best way as you can see for yourself.

That's right, it's kind of the same with hacked accounts, if an account gets banned for something that the hacker has done, once it's recovered it gets unbaned as the ban has nothing to do with the original owner.

Mr.Big confirmed a few posts above that the account is "Possibly Compromised", that means that the account was locked. When the email is changed, you get a notification on your old email address where you have the possibility to lock the account in case the change was made by someone else.

I added email notifications for some security events:

Whenever your password is changed (except by an administrator), you will get an email about it.

Whenever your email is changed (except by an administrator), your old email will get an email about it with a link to lock your account. The link is valid for 14 days.

Let me know if you find any bugs.
