1512 out of 3979 delegate votes have been counted but 2467 pledged delegates are still to be won.

Elizabeth Warren has dropped out of the race to become the Democratic Presidential Nominee and said she needs time to decide on who to back (Sanders or Biden)

--------------------

5th March 2020:

Who will be the Democratic nominee to face Trump in the November 2020 elections?

1215 out of 3979 delegate votes have been counted but 2764 pledged delegates are still to be won having said that it is fairly safe to assume the Democrat nominee will be either Sanders or Biden.

Super Tuesday brought about a lot of success for Biden which means he has gone in to the lead but even though Sanders did not win as many primaries as he would have liked but he managed to win big with California. The race is wide open but between them two, I cannot see Warren going on much longer but it seems clear when she drops out she will definitely back Sanders.

All the younger candidates have dropped out, the voting public seems to be believe that an older or at least experienced politician is needed to take on Trump in November and they believe that is the only way to dislodge Trump and make him a one term President. What is apparent is that Bernie Sanders (Bernard Sanders) at 78 years old and Joe Biden (Joseph Robinette Biden Junior) at 77 years old have shown those voting in the primaries prefer a senior candidate over a younger one.

-----------
Trump is already the oldest US President in history at the time of taking office (he was 70 years old). By the time the November election starts:

Trump will 74 years old
Sanders will be 79 years old
Biden will be a couple of weeks short of being 78 years old
-----------

This race to be the Democratic Party Presidential Nominee to face Trump in November just got very interesting. Who will be the Democratic nominee to face Trump in the November 2020 elections?

No way the Democratic Party will let Bernie be the nomination.  It was no coincidence that when Sanders started to pull away from the pack the more moderates drop out and endorse Biden.

Showing straight up delegates is great and all, but I think showing something from 538 would do this a lot more justice. Obviously it's going to be changing as new polls come out, more states have primaries, and if a scandal or two occurs.

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2020-primary-forecast/

This thing has been wild to watch, and I'd be pretty surprised if it changed further but still would be interesting to have this being tracked on here.

No way the Democratic Party will let Bernie be the nomination.  It was no coincidence that when Sanders started to pull away from the pack the more moderates drop out and endorse Biden.

If the voters wanted Bernie he would have won more votes. The Bernie / Warren / Kamala wing topped out at about 40% of the Democratic vote (see polls going back a year).

And once the average voter saw that Sanders had a chance they coalesced around Biden. Biden would be a poor candidate even if he was mentally all there (which he isn't) but the party - and the average Dem voters - thought Biden was preferable to Bernie.

I was hoping for a contested convention so I'm a little disappointed. But, there it is.

I think Bernie has far less of a chance than does Biden / Hillary / Michelle / Bloomberg / etc...

His appeal was based on him being for labor and borders and wasn't into identity politics.

He's backtracked completely on immigration.

He's backtracked on the Second Amendment (goodbye Michigan and Pennsylvania)

And he's accepted identity politics as opposed to sticking with the traditional socialist dichotomy of workers and capital.

We know he will lose the suburbs so if he doesn't make HUGE inroads in capturing labor then fuggedaboutit.

By abandoning his position on borders / immigration to capture the woke left he's lost his appeal with labor Dems. Now add to the fact that this isn't 2016 when you didn't know for sure what Trump would do. What has Trump done? He's gone hard into the border. The left has blasted him for this and he's kept to his guns. You think labor is going to switch back to Bernie after this? Fuk no.

Bernie is toast. But I'm rooting for him to break up the Democrat party. I've long thought that it would be the Republican party that would break up first but now it looks as if it may be the Dems. So GOOO BERNIEEEE!!!

Roughly one quarter of Americans are first or second generation immigrants. Are you saying that this group of individuals are not concerned about the rest of the world? And there are MANY third generation Americans (Irish, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Korean, etc... who also give a damn about the rest of the world.

Americans do care about the rest of the world - or more particularly - parts of the rest of the world. Does the average Russian or Chinese or Indian citizen really give a damn about what happens in Suriname or Ghana or Canada? I would guess the wouldn't care anymore than the average American (unless they came from Suriname or Ghana or a neighboring country).

The only rational solution to the Democrat candidate problem is to tie them all down, and take body parts from each, creating a Frankenstein monster with Bernie arms, Hillary toes, Bloomberg and Hillary dual heads. This way everyone will be happy. Oh and it needs remote controls so the fat old white guys in the back room can manipulate it.

What in your opinion are the advantages Biden has over Sanders (or Sanders has over Biden) ?

What in your opinion are the advantages Biden has over Sanders (or Sanders has over Biden) ?

No way the Democratic Party will let Bernie be the nomination.  It was no coincidence that when Sanders started to pull away from the pack the more moderates drop out and endorse Biden.

Full disclosure.  I am a Republican.  But I think the Democratic Party did Bernie dirty last go around.  I will have to say that I respect Bernie in that he has had the same message for over 40 years.  He does not change his message based on his audience or who he is talking to.

Biden is more relatable to the average Joe.  Pun intended.

To be fair, in other places and times, the Marxist dialectic has been exactly what related to the average Joe. Soviet Russia late 19th century to early 20th century. As an example.

Still the case with America's young.

Biden will be it.

Most people don't look at details. All they see is a name. Both Trump and the Dem leaders have been throwing the Biden name around for months and years... to say nothing about his former vice-presidency. People have seen it and will vote it.

Look at all the bad Russia stuff against Biden and his son. But nobody has arrested him/them, so it's all fake news. If Biden can overcome all this, he will make a strong President.

If Biden got rich by being a crook, and if he got away with it, why can't we get rich right along with Biden?
