They are giving away Bitcoin to all who attend and educate about Bitcoin...
There is always a catch.

Here it is:
The general admission tickets cost $299, Bitcoin giveaway is $100 but...
tickets are free if you sign up through eToro - which is the title sponsor of the event.

So if that was really the case, it's pretty much no payment admission, but instead you pay with your KYC/AML information. Somewhat like Coinbase Earn[1]. The $299 ticket is just there to pretty much make the "free ticket" through eToro look like a great deal.

Not that I'm in love with giving away my identity for something but at least with Coinbase Earn you actually get some currency out of it. Sure, it's measly today, but it's something to sit in your wallet to remind you what paod for it.

But what do you get if you sign up eToro? Another account you don't need, your money back minus fees, and a lifetime of spam to remind you of the time tim Draper took your identity in return for spam.

I seem to remember eToro always "gave" some amount of money to "play" when you brought your own. You could never withdraw that as it was meant for "playing" only. Yeah i know it sounds like a Casino for some reason, but the "game" is like "trading" with forex, stocks, other assets like metals, oil, and even some crypto. It has a term "cfd" or whatever.

Its a promotion to get you hooked to their site. Are you sure those "$100" aren't really for "playing" inside eToro? You can probably NOT withdraw that...

Why shouldn't they pay it directly to everyone's bank accounts if they signed up through eToro and not deposit it to the said platform? From the looks of it, they are just making a gesture of paying you when in fact, you cannot really withdraw the money on the platform unless certain conditions are met say, you need to trade first or you need to give level 2 KYC verification or whatever. If they really are willing to teach people things about bitcoin, they would have done so already without the different loop-d-loops they are requiring for the people to go through.

No idea, and not going to find out. But if I understood posts above correctly, the $100 is hard money, and you get it in Bitcoin, the rest of the fee is waived if you sign up for eToro.

Essentially: $299 ticket becomes $100 if you sign up for eToro, and then you get back the $100 in BTC.

So, it's "free" in terms out outlay (cept like I said you lose on fees heh).

All brokers give you a practice account. that's your play money. You normally can use it to play the contests though and best performers get moneh. Not sure it's ever been done with Bitcoin, but I wouldn't be surprised if so. They just make more money from losing traders.

Because eToro wouldn't sort of "partner" with them if they wouldn't get anything out of it. It's safe to assume that they worked it out this way to hopefully get a good number of traders to their platform.

In the end, we're just assuming that this is the case lol. We're making too much assumptions.

So does this mean the "free" thing isn't really free and you somewhat just reinvest it and cannot be withdrawn?

That word "FREE and Give Away" it is really catching to the eyes of the people but somewhat like they don't realize what was the end of this or something behind that. This is how some scammers tried to attract users and investors and it for sure many will be caught into this.

And what happen if they don't reach their target participants? Do they still give $100 worth of bitcoin for return? It is just given to the doubt that might not and you have just lost you $299. People should be very careful in this kind of work and must have to listen what the other say's before taking action.

One of the good marketing strategies by the people who would like to caught the attention of their target audience is the word free and give away because most of the time we want to get a lot of information, advantage and also earning with the use of these words. Today we have different ways of earning a lot of knowledge with the help of the internet because by the help of the search engines we does not need to take a lot of time to find the information with the use of network and peer to peer transferring of files and information came from the different sources it is already compiled in just second, and it is good too if you have a lot of sources that you will use this to avoid losing time to make earning. Also having talks or orientation with the help of the introduction of using bitcoin is good too because they are getting a lot of information that we don't know that came from the other users and base on the experience by that knowledge too it can help towards to our earnings.

You know the saying "If something is for free, then you are the product."
This is just marketing gimmick.eToro has an affiliate program and pays commission for every referred new member. The article title is very misleading "This billionaire will give you money to learn about bitcoin" WTF?Do you really believe this?A billionaire giving away money for education?
I would appreciate the effort of somebody trying to provide education about bitcoin for free, but without any marketing tricks.

If this is not guaranteed then Tim will lose his reputation, the guy is a billionaire so he can afford that, it will be different if a random guy just come out and offer $100 to attendees, it's a good gesture and whales should also follow this lead if we have 50 whales doing this to people who do not know anything about Bitcoin, we will have more people believing in the power of Bitcoin.

Yeah, it's a well-known reaction I think for tickets. If you sell tickets and someone pays for it in full, and find out others got it for less or even for free, then they do get pissed and this happens a LOT for conferences actually. But since most people actually attend at the behest of their company, it's not their own money so they don't feel the sting.

This could be different, cause it seems to actually be marketed to individuals (as they want individual KYC).
