Hello,
I have held my sol noctis eagle since my original purchase or pre order in November 2014. (Loaded 2015 and still there I believe as I checked earlier in the year) I have since purchased 2 more and given one of those away. The interesting part of this is that the 3rd one I bought was loaded in 2020 and I contacted TWC on eBay and they said it’s newly minted when I bought it off them. (I do have screenshots of that communication)
I also own 10 binary bulls, some of which are still in there plastic bags and cardboard box etc I wonder if anymore information will come out from TWC about that crazy sweeping and then reloading.
The bottom line for me when I bought these coins is because I liked the look the design and idea, I have no intention of redeeming these even if BTC were to reach 1-10 million USD. The fascinating point of most of these collectibles is the stories that come with them so even if mine are sweeped one day at least I still have the physical coins to maybe have my young one show and tell one day.

This thread is slightly misleading. No sol noctis coins have ever been swept. There was a couple issues early on with some loading issues on a couple coins. One coin had no funds in the secondary market. I believe these coins are safe from TWC. They are great coins and collectables.

Hoping someone can offer some advice re the 2 x Sol Noctis Eagles I purchased direct from TWC back in 2015 I thought I would check the BTC addresses on them the other day to see the balance but the addresses come back as unrecognised by the block explorer. Has anyone come accross this before? Feeling stupid for not checking them when I got them but trusted the maker and wanted to keep them mint. Do I have to peel the hologram to check the private key and use DaveFs instructions?

Do I have to peel the hologram to check the private key and use DaveFs instructions? Don't peel and try checking the firstbits- the 1st 8 characters of the address. If I recall, there was something funky about the complete address on the coin where a couple of characters were cut off. You could also post the firstbits here and one of us could double check for you.

I see now that on both the coins the last 2 letters of the address are not printed. Coin 1 last visible letters are Mgh Coin 2 last visible letters are q1D I had the idea to add some more sats to these addresses that's why I wanted to check the balance I was going to use them a bit like a savings account that I can't access easily as would have to remove the hologram. Emergency funds on a coin being portable and virtualy no one recognises it for what it is. Reading this thread I'm uncertain that might not be such a good idea. Eagles are OK, Bulls are questionable? If you had one of these coins what would you do? - Use it like a savings/emergency wallet. - Keep it Mint - Get the BTC of it now. - another idea Thank you so much for helping. You've made my week!!!

Glad to be of assistance, happy it worked out for you! These 2 coins are like their own savings account; however, I wouldn't add anymore sats to them. I would recommend setting up a wallet (many to choose from but look into Electrum and see if that works for you) and adding sats there- your keys, your coins. I would say to keep your coins mint, perhaps get them graded if feasible. While keeping your coins mint, they could still serve as cold storage/saving account; you could always get the BTC off if/when needed; or you could sell or auction off on this forum if you want BTC. If you decided to sell or auction here on the forum, you would receive a premium over 0.01 BTC, unless the coin is in bad shape. How much premium, not sure as other factors come into play.

Great advice. Selling is an appealing option I hadn't thought of. I'll have a search of this forum to see what the demand has been with other Binary Eagles. The coins are in their original boxes, case, cert and capsule. Also have the TWC receipt for them. Only been taken out once to turn over to see the BTC address, they shipped with eagle face up, and then take the photo so I could blow up the address as thought I must be reading some of the letters wrong. Thanks to your detective work I now know there are 2 missing letter/numbers during manufacture. Would you think I would need to get coins like this graded before selling? Wouldn't they be better in their orginal form or is it really only the coin that matters? Thank you!

As you can see here, plenty of things are sold ungraded and do quite well. It's just that graded items typically have wider market and go for a modestly to significantly higher premium. Basically, it comes down to what you're trying to do and then determining if grading is feasible and in your best interest.
