Coronavirus Hits CPAC - Ted Cruz puts himself under self quarnatine

Well here we go again with the crazy news stories. We're hearing now that there was someone who went to CPAC who was infected with the coronavirus and had a brief conversation with Senator Cruz, they shook hands and such as well.

While Cruz doesn't fully reach the criteria for putting himself under self quarantine, he's doing so anyway to protect those in his staff and such. 14 Day quarantine is now underway for him.

While I think this is just a way for Cruz to throw his name into the media again, people are truly going to start freaking out more and more as the news covers this more and more.

14 Day quarantine is now underway for him.

My reading of his statement is that it will actually be something closer to a 4 day quarantine. He had contact with the person infected with coronavirus 10 days ago, and the statement read that he will remain in self quarantine until 14 days has passed from when he had contact with the person.

I hope that the epidemic will decline in the near future. I have an assumption that the peak of the epidemic has already passed, and soon the epidemic will be eliminated (except for single cases)

You're without a doubt right, I kinda skimmed through his statement so that's what happened. But the other lawmaker that is under quarantine is Rep Gosar from Arizona. He's said that he had sustained contact with the infected person as cpac, so I assume he meets the criteria to be put under quarantine.

Hopefully some science pours in, cause the media is really running away with this one (as they usually do)

Here is the statement he released.

According to the statement, he didn’t have enough contact with the person to meet the criteria for self quarantine and he doesn’t have any symptoms. Per the statement, testing is not effective for those without symptoms.

The self quarantine is out of an abundance of caution due to how many people he interacts with every day.

I don’t think you are at a high risk of catching the coronavirus from brief interactions with someone who has it.

Why not. 4 days break. How can that hurt. Self quarantine is the only smart thing people do.  If he is infected he will most likely noticed earlier then in 4 days. Also you can do so many things even under quarantine. It is not end of the world.

Couple more have put themselves under self quarantine. One notable person being Rep Mark Meadows, the presidents incoming Chief of Staff (unsure on when he's going to be taking his position) who also shook hands with the President. The media is probably going to try to blow out of proportion, and say that Trump has the coronavirus.

But ya know -- Mark Meadows has no symptoms and has tested negative. Just like the rest of the people that are under quarantine.
